Does anyone have any expectations on this. I'm looking forward to it because I understand it's based on a great graphic novel.

it takes a few liberties as far as staying true to the graphic novel. in the graphic novel, they're not assassins, they're supervillains who rule the world after they teamed up and defeated all the superheroes. and the main character lives a very mundane life, unknowing that he is the son of a supervillain who has recently been found murdered, so he is recruited by the supervillains to take his place and find his father's killer.

Only 7 reviews on Rotten Tomatoes but all positive so far. I like that they are screening it for critics so far in advance. It shows they have confidence.

Not as much as Samuel L. Jackson. Those two are some stereotype breakers.

What the American trailers don't show is that this will be a violence fest. Check out the Russian trailer. It has a nice scene that you don't see in MPAA-castrated America.

It's directed by some Russian dude who made a couple of movies I dig (Night Watch and Day Watch).

I think I'll check it out.

Wanted was a fantastic comic, but the thing is that it was so moral free, that there was no way they could have stayed true to it in the movie. Let's just use Fox's entrance in the comics as an example. She just showed up and killed every person in a store (can't remember what it exactly was). There is no way they could have that in the movie.

Besides they couldn't have made Wanted into a movie if they didn't change them from supervillains to assassins. My only regret is we don't don't get to see Shithead or Johnny Two-Dicks

From what I have heard they have kept much of Wesley's initiation true to the comics though. They have the wings being shot off the fly in the trailers. Supposedly they have Wesley being left alone in a room to fight Fuckwit, much like the comics. Unfortunately they don't have Wesley killing his old Geography teacher or what he did to an actress (it starts with r and ends with e), in the comic.

I do wonder if they have that little twist at the end though. I doubt they would have kept that, but it would be fucking badass if they did. I suggest that you guys get the Wanted comics (they are only about 6 or 7 issues). The money is well spent.

I like the fact that they are doing it a bit differently than the comics. It doesn't rooooone the surprise element.

You are not a fan of Millar, I take it. I don't care if he is not a fan of superheroes. Wanted was something different than the usual same shit we get (Superhero shows beats up bad guys). Wanted was a comic where the villains won, and it showed the world after that,

that's bullshit. they could have done all that in the movie. hell, they're making Watchmen into a movie, and there's :rap: and a huge body count in that one. and Snyder is known for staying incredeibly true to the comics, so i have little doubt that all of that will be in the movie.

Millar is probably the worst "name" writer working out there today. I've never seen a man who has such utter disdain for the medium he works in yet has his fair share of fanboys.

The guy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near superhero comics. Outside of maybe Superman, because that's about the only comic book character he has any respect or reverance for, and thus doesn't royally fuck up the character whenever he writes him (as Millar does with just about every OTHER comic character he writes).

I gotta agree with Vyce that Millar is dogshit. His characters all have the same voice, and he keeps writing the same fucking story with the same character set.

That being said, if the Wanted that made it to the screen was the Wanted that was in comic form I'd go see it. If only to see analgoues of DC villains take over and blow shit up with a totally amoral protagonist as the center of it all. I'm not down for this faggoty Matrix horseshit, even if they throw a twist in at the end.

BUT THATS NOT A HAPPY ENDING! HOLLYWOOD WANT HAPPY ENDINGS OR ME FEELINGS HURTY BAD STOP PAIN NO WANT! <--- the average mainstream viewer, they should be sprayed with napalm and kicked off a building. The best comic movies are the ones that stick really closely to the comics, there also the most critically acclaimed. The comics are both a story board and script in one so to not use them is only something a fucking fool would do.

I was pretty underwhelmed by the whole thing. Did the comic book start with a pretty obvious Fight Club ripoff? I didn't notice it in Atonement but James McAvoy looked oddly like Zach Braff throughout.

I just read all 6 of the comics and liked them pretty well.In the comics Fox is black, and NO bullet curving bullshit. And everything else is different (by only looking at trailers). We'll see if it works as a stand alone, but looks like it's nowhere near the comic as far as sticking to the story.I looked on IMDb and I didn't recognize 99% of the characters 5 minutes after reading the comic.Typical hollywood.Anybody read the Stephen King story "Lawnmower man",then see the movie? Only good one I ever saw was "Clockwork Orange" I read the book a dozen times and Kubrick's movie was almost word-for-word.

Just read the comics. SOOOOO different from the movie. I'm not even sure why they even decided to make them connected. They could have not given credit to the comic, and no one would have noticed.

And I actually liked the movie a little better. An assassin group from 1000 years ago, killing to keep balance in the world is better than a bunch of super villains causing havoc just because they can. IMO.

I enjoyed the movie, it was very fun, sure it had its over the top scenes(the bullets hitting each other in mid air was kind of overdone) but it was still cool, it also had a very good narrative.

I think that the last lines spoken by James McAvoy sum up the movie beautifully. It's somewhere along the lines of:

"This isn't about me getting revenge for my dad or saving the world or getting back at my boss. This is about me taking control of my life. What the fuck have you done lately?"

In the same way that the movie is about special effects, crazy action sequences, impossible stunts, etc. It's also about a dude who lives an existential, uncontrollable life that is redundant. He's wasting away. And finally he learns to just fucking break free and do shit. Take control.

Just got back from seeing it, and I really enjoyed it, I've been planning on reading the comic series, but I think I'm glad I saw the film first, so I didn't get disappointed.

I thought the action was awesome, it was very balls to the wall and intense in that way, and you don't see that too much in film anymore, everything is watered down, and marketed to a PG-13 audience, it was refreshing to see, a violent, yet highly stylized action flick, for a change.

On the side of acting and all the other nitty gritty, I think the director among others did a very good job of not only making a great, although over-the-top action flick, and making characters that you'd actually like and care about, but having actors, actually, ACT. James McAvoy is fast becoming a great actor, (after other good jobs in The Last King of Scotland and Atonement), Angelina Jolie was herself, hot, and asskickingly good, and Morgan Freeman was suprisingly my favorite character, he did quite a good job. The script, also, wasn't bad, it was all very well put together, and probably the best summer movie, SO FAR, and I'm saying that, because I know Batman will R A P E the comptetion.

So, do yourself a favor, if you haven't seen this, check it out, suspend your disbelief for about 2 hours and just have fun at the movies.

Watched it over the weekend, and enjoyed it immensely. Angelina Jolie was very hot throughout the movie. I liked the twist they had with Cross, but I still like comic book twist better. The only thing I was kinda bummed about was the ending. I appreciated it, since you don't really see an ending like that in Hollywood, but it would have been nice if they kept Fox alive. I get the feeling they are going to try and make this into something resembling the Bourne trilogy with Weasley taking on the rest of the Fraternity, in the following movies. I just think it would have more potential if Fox was there with him.
