There will be a PS3 version. The Flamethrower looks like a nice addition! It is treyarc and not Infinity Ward, but they are using the COD4 engine.

Doesn't matter, gonna pass on CoD5, just like I did CoD4. For team based gaming, I have TF2 on the PC.

Not a fan of the archaic WW2 weaponry. Id rather have enhanced modern.

I, for one, actually enjoyed CoD 3 on the Wii. It wasnt the best game I ever played, certainly, but I enjoyed it, and for a launch title its controls were pretty good. Im willing to give 5 the benefit of the doubt for now, especially since it looks like this one might have a little more mature slant to it. Itll probably still end up with a T rating, though.

Fuck this stupid franchise. Socom has had them beat for years now and COD is just ruining the somewhat descent game they had. Why the fuck would someone want to play a modern warfare game and then jump back and play a wwII game. It's just ridiculous.

For what it's worth(which isn't much), pay close attention to the name of the game at the end of the trailer. This actually isn't COD 5. Infinity ward will be producing COD games exclusively after this, so their next title will probably be COD 5.
The thing about the WW2 angle is they probably weren't sure the whole "modern warfare" thing would work out the way it did. You have to take into account that this game has been in production since way before COD 4 came out, so they took the safe route. People just mindlessly buy WW2 shooters.

WWII or not. Even if offline might not be what you want. Same story, too quick, boring, etc. The online would be worth picking it up to me. no?

Strange how this one is not called Call of Duty 5 but just Call of Duty World at War. They did the same thing on the PS2 with Call of Duty The Big Red One, it wasnt a sequel but just a spin off Call of Duty.

No kidding.
I honestly don't mind that they are making another WW2 game (nothing compares to BF1942 IMO), but if you are going to call it a sequel, how about use a new engine? I guess that would take too long and not get you money as fast as you'd like, eh?
The video game industry is slowly turning into the movie industry. No original concepts or titles, just clones to pump out for a quick buck.

What are you talking about look at all the original games that have come out lately like Metal Gear Solid 4, Call of Duty 4, Final Fantasy 12, Dead or Alive 4 etc etc.
Its really hard to come out with an original IP. But When you sit down and think about it todays day in age the cost of making a game is equivalent to a big budget movie. So its hard for a company to take a chance to on an original game. Look at some new IPs that have come and failed. So it makes sense for a game studio to release a sequel when a fan base is already there and its guarantee to sell.

A GREAT game with an original concept was Giants: Citizen Kabuto, and that's one that I hope is remade sometime soon for next-gen. It wasn't a very well known game, but holy shit was it fun.

The writing was great in CK.
if you enjoyed that game you may want to pick up another one called "Armed & Dangerous" that was released about 2-3 years after Citizen Kabuto. It was made by the same studio and the comedic writing was done by the same person. Kinda like Monty Python meets Call of Duty.

Motherfucker, we get it, WWII was a huge event. It doesn't mean you have to make 500 fucking games for it.
Move on to Vietnam at the very least. Hell, even then you could get away from the Thompson, the Sten and the M1

I still want Nam or Korea. I still think Men of Valor (Original XBOX) was one of the most under rated games of its time. Tired of this WW2 shit.

How about the US-Mexican war? It will never happen, though. I'd like to fire my musket into one or two of them as they're mowing the lawn or selling a bag of oranges. (ding ding ding)

That flamethrower is fucking nasty. i love it.
I was pissed when I heard they were going back to WW2 but you know what? Good. I only want Infinity Ward to follow up Modern Warfare. i hope they don't go to the future yet. Do one more Modern Warfare present day thing and then do the future if you want. Let this other company do WW2, it's proven to be fun, we haven't seen enough of Japan as an enemy in WW2 games, and with the previous games engine it will be solid fun. I only want Infinity Ward to touch current time at least for the first two games. After that go ahead. Let them flesh this out more and be even better than COD4. I just hope they continue the modern shit. We all LOVE it. It's great. Then go and do the future.
I really hope this future space rumor we're hearing is a lie and we get one more modern warfare game by Infinity before they do something along the lines of Halo, or fucking every other shooter. What made COD4 so unique was: here was a developer who had the balls to make a game with terrorism as an issue. Terrorists were the bad guys. The Russian thing was still relevant due to the cold war not ending THAT long ago and Russia could very well still be a threat. COD4 was the only shooter that dealt with the issues of today. Every other shooter is taking place in the past, or some fictional outer space faggotry. COD4 and GTA$ are so modern. I love them. MGS4 is probably the most realistic future based game. Everything has been done except, for some reason, the modern times. It's odd COD4 is the only shooter to do it and to do it right.
BTW I would love for COD6 to have the Chinese as the enemies. It would be very real to me.
