Ebay: Dont be a dum dum

I almost fell for this one. I was selling a sony vaio laptop on ebay. I got about 15, 20 emails offering to buy it off the internet via credit card, he was offering double, so i bit. Took the 1500 bucks, charged it, it approved. I asked for a billing adress and a shipping address. The shipping address was somewhere in indonesia, and the billing address was domestic. Feeling something was up, I sent the laptop to the billing address. I get a phone call 2 weeks later, wtf is up, I didnt order this crap. And 3 days later, why the fuck is there a 1500 dollar charge on my credit card. So what this guy did was steal a credit card from soembody in the usa, and he suckers somebody in (me in this case) to send him the laptop in indonesia, gives the stolen credit card, he gets the laptop, I charge this guy, who has no clue about this, and I get screwed in the end. So in the end I got the laptop back from the guy, and somebody else won it, for 900 bucks, aint 1500, but hey, its money

Any of the Asian countries is a big red-flag for credit card and other types of scams. It was a big problem when I used to to work for Gateway years ago.

That is why many sellers on eBay say they won't honor bids from international bidders.

I wouldn't sell a pack of chewing gum to any of those countries.. Espically Indonesia or the Phillepines(sp?) or any other close to 3rd world ASIAN country.


Japan and TAIWAN might be different.

We told you not to do this, Stay in the US and/or Canada. Don't ship to any other countries, I'm amazed that you got the laptop back.

It was really nice of the thief to send the laptop back to you. Usually they take it and run, especially if they stole someone's credit card. Congratulations, I'm glad everything worked out for you. :D

ah, but i didnt. I shipped to the BILLING ADDRESS, so I shipped to the guys house whos card was STOLEN, so I didnt get screwed, if the guy kept the laptop, i wouldnt have credited his credit card

Continental US ONLY . Also, look at feedback. I wouldnt seel any item priced over $50 to anyone without at least 20 sales/buys to their name.
