yea more shitty remakes of old TV show It's a sequel to a popular movie, that complaint's no longer valid for this one.

You have another 20 minutes to change it to the passable "more shitty sequels to crappy action movies" issue.

OK its a shitty remake of a remake of an old TV show. Do any movie company make movies with original post good story lines? Enough with the movie sucked but you got to see it for the CGI.

3 :10 to Yuma was a good movie from last year but it was a remake name a good original movie. Define original. Are we allowed to include movies based on books or true stories or we basing this on solely original material?

Nevertheless, Before The Devil Knows You're Dead, Michael Clayton, Margot at the Wedding and The Darjeeling Limited off the top of my head. If you're allowing me to bring in books and based on "true" stories, I can go into more depth.

In Bruges was pretty good from this year.

And it's not like being original necessarily means good. Juno was horseshit.

What are the movies that ! will want to watch 10, 15, 20 years from now. Where is the next Godfather? Godfather was based on a book.

So are you looking for something at the level of a Godfather masterpiece or just looking for a good/great movie? Because if it's the former you're probably looking at very few movies overall.

I loved Squid and the Whale and though I don't think MATW was as good, I still really enjoyed it. And, as Mr. Bennington puts it, "it has Nicole Kidman playing with her pussy. I'm sorry it doesn't have a fucking monster destroying New York."

And I too felt Transformers wasn't that bad. Will I ever see it again? Probably not. But while I watched it, I felt it worked.

Unicron as played by Dom Deluise in 2011. And if you think that Transformers movie was awful take a gander at any incarnation from the 90's to the present. They make the movie look like some classy affair.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead was a really fucking good movie. It just didnt get the push other movies did, so nobody saw it. I thought Philip Seymour Hoffman was excellent it. To rule it out and/or dismiss it because you haven't seen it is kinda silly.

Oh yeah, Marissa Tomei gets naked alot in it too.

On topic, I'll watch the new Transformers, as long as you expect nothing in terms of storyline and just knows its a popcorn movie i didnt think the first one wasnt as awful as everyone makes it out to be. No Hero/Comic/Cartoon movie is ever popular on the internet because the nerds ALWAYS have something technical to bitch about.

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an upcoming science fiction 3-D film scheduled for release in June 26, 2009.

Premise
Roberto Orci described the film's theme as the robots confronting "being away from home", with the focus between the robots and humans "much more evenly balanced". The tone will be similar to the first film, but "the stakes will be higher", (with a more global sensibility), and there will be more focus on the science fiction elements. Orci also said "we'll be better at modulating [the humor] this time". Structurally, the plot will be "more organically interconnected in that TF1 had the structure of 3 story lines coming together at Hoover. TF2 will have a different structure."

Transformers
Peter Cullen voices Autobot leader Optimus Prime. He will retain his alternate mode of a blue Peterbilt truck with red flame decals.

The voices of the other Transformers are unconfirmed

Bumblebee, the Autobot who befriended Sam and had an alternate form of the fifth-generation Chevrolet Camaro. Mark Ryan voiced the character for his two lines at the end of Transformers, as for most of the film his vocal processors were damaged.

Ironhide, the Autobot weapons specialist, will retain his GMC Topkick form. Jess Harnell voiced him in the first film.

Ratchet, the Autobot medic, will retain his Hummer H2 form. Robert Foxworth voiced him in the first film.

Arcee, an Autobot motorcycle with a feminine personality and appearance. Arcee was dropped from the first film, as the writers felt there was not enough time to explain her "gender". Orci stated the issue could just be ignored in the film. Arcee has been redesigned from the concept art used for her toy and comic book appearances.

Starscream, the Decepticon air commander and Megatron's general. He flew into space after fleeing the climactic battle in the first film, betraying his leader. Orci confirmed he will have more dialogue. He transformed into an F-22 Raptor and Charlie Adler voiced him.

Barricade will return after disappearing in the first film. He will still be a Saleen Mustang police car. Jess Harnell voiced him in the first film.

Soundwave, Megatron's most loyal lieutenant. Orci "duly noted" his minions Ravage and Laserbeak would need to appear as well. In the 1980s toy line, Soundwave was a tape deck. The filmmakers had tried to work him into the first film twice, and these roles eventually evolved into Blackout (a MH-53 Pave Low helicopter) and Frenzy (who changed into a CD Player and later into a mobile phone). The latter character was particularly thought to be too different from the original.

Jetfire, a Decepticon SR-71 Blackbird.

Other robots include the Autobots "Stinger"; "Wheels"; twins who combine into an ice cream van; an Autobot Chevrolet Trax; a Frenzy-like character; and a Decepticon Audi R8;. Names of the individual twins and Constructicons will be determined in post-production, as the dialogue can be re-recorded with the animation. There will be some robots who can transform into weapons.

Hasbro stated "a key character from the first movie [would] make a dramatic comeback and attempt to settle a score": Megatron (Hugo Weaving) was among those killed in the first film. Orci confirmed the Decepticons will have whole dialogue scenes to themselves, and before he began writing he had envisioned there being around ten robots on each side. Bay also promised a geriatric robot.

That Soundwave is fan art from after the first movie it first appeared on the Superherohype message board. Clearly. That doesn't fit the Transformers robot template of metallic grey pieces hastily assembled with little bits of color barely visible during their half second shots.

Okay, I'll agree with you there, but I still prefer the cartoon version like the movie from the 80s. Maybe I'm biased just from being used to that as a kid (but a problem I had with the movie, aside from Optimus and Bumblebee, I wasn't always sure who I was looking at)

Maybe I'm biased just from being used to that as a kid (but a problem I had with the movie, aside from Optimus and Bumblebee, I wasn't always sure who I was looking at) They all looked like erector sets that were slightly crushed. Some of them had spikey teeth I think, or that might have just been part of their design. It's hard to tell who is who when you have 5 30-foot grey things crashing into one another.

Nope, sorry. That's the Soundwave from the upcoming movie. (it's been confirmed on multiple sites -- TFW2005, The Allspark, The Arker, et al).

He's a Cybertronian Triple Changer -- Bot, Sattellite, Jet.

Oh yeah, that one. Sorry, I misunderstood, as your quote was with the pics of Cybertronian Sattellite Soundwave.

I'm hoping that he eventually takes that truck mode, as it's a nod to TF: Animated, and it's a much better design.

One thing I didn't like about the first Transformers movie was the choice of Decepticons, I would have rather seen early G1 characters: Soundwave, Shockwave, Thundercracker, Skywarp, etc ...

Autobots need: Prowl, Sideswipe (sounds like he'll be in the new movie,) and Cliff Jumper voiced by Casey Kasem

Pure speculation i read- i dont know if there is any truth to it...

In an attempt to keep the charecters secret, about who would be in the film, they just used random transformer names throughout the filming, and ultimately, they forgot to change some of them in post production.

MTV's Spoilers To Talks Transformers

MTV's next episode of Spoilers will give viewers a chance to get a sneak peak at some Transformers 2 footage including an interview with Michael Bay. From the write-up:

On February 21, at 8:00 p.m. ET, MTV will air the second episode of "Spoilers," a quarterly movie special that will deliver first looks at the year's biggest upcoming flicks, including behind-the-scenes action and exclusive scenes.

Taped in front of a live audience, the second episode will spotlight "Watchmen," and will feature appearances from the entire cast of the eagerly anticipated superhero flick.

Hundreds of die-hard movie fanswill attend MTV News' screening of the film, with the stars walking the blood-red carpet to chat in front of our cameras.

In addition to "Watchmen," the episode will also give viewers exclusive access to scenes from such upcoming blockbusters as "Star Trek," "Land of the Lost," "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince," "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" and more.

I wasn't able to find the last episode of Spoilers so hopefully Transfans will post the footage online for us to watch. Thanks to Josh for the info.

http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_G96gxvrHqrE/SZvnpkltD7I/AAAAAAAAFNg/iAATfzN1_yQ/s1600-h/TF2Poster2. jpg <<remove spaces

Yesterday, a final version of the The Fallen poster was revealed and now thanks to Nige, here is a new poster for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Not sure where it was taken but pretty good looking with Sam and Mikeala running, the Fallen atop a pyramid and Optimus looking bad ass. For whatever reason, the studios often create a US poster and an international poster and this could just be the latter. I guess we will know if it shows up stateside.

Update: I think my poor phrasing above caused some confusion. By "final poster" I was referring to The Fallen face version only where there is the face mostly hidden in shadows, photoshop enhanced version and now as the link above takes you, the full CGI rendered face glaring at you. It wouldn't surprise me if multiple posters are released stateside and elsewhere over the next few months so a final poster in the marketing series for the movie is probably a ways off.

I'm not all that excited to see it, but I feel like it's one of those movies that is worth seeing on a big screen if only for the spectacle of it.

Nah. Thats the Constructicons as Devastator. Unicron was like the size of a moon. If you remember when he transformed in the 86 movie they came out of his eye. He would look much larger if they did a Unicron. Probably only in space.

Heres a list of who's in this one.
http://www.filmschoolrejects.com/news/transformers-revenge-of-the-fallen-robot-roster-revealed.php

* OPTIMUS PRIME: The Autobots’ leader - alternate form: Peterbilt truck.
* IRONHIDE: Weapons specialist - GMC Topkick.
* RATCHET: Medic - Hummer H2.
* BUMBLEBEE: Friend and mode of transportation for Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) - 2010 Chevorlet Camaro.
* ARCEE: A female Autobot - Megan Fox’s hot-pink motorcycle.
* JETFIRE: As in the original, this fighter plane crash-landed on Earth a long time ago, and he will become a reformed Decepticon now fighting for the humans. His alternate form is the SR-71 Blackbird, the outdated but still-sleek Cold War spy plane.
* JOLT: the original toy was a Decepticon, but in the movie he’s a good guy - Chevrolet Volt plug-in hybrid.
* SKID & MUDFLAP: a.k.a. “The Twins” - Chevrolet Beat and Trax concept cars.
* SIDESWIPE: A candy-apple red Lamborghini in the original, joins the cast this time as General Motor’s silver Corvette Stingray concept car.

* STARSCREAM: Formerly Megatron’s second in command, he escaped at the end of the first movie (see photo); F-22 Raptor jet.
* SCORPONOK: The mechanical scorpion that attacked the American troops in the desert.
* THE FALLEN: an ancient robot, sort of the Transformers’ version of Lucifer. He’s one of the original robot aliens, and his defiance and arrogance led to his banishment into another dimension. The screenwriters say that The Fallen holds the key to life on both Earth and Cybertron, the Transformers’ home planet.
* SIDEWAYS: The Audi R8 seen crashing through a building in the trailer.
* SOUNDWAVE: A cassette player in the original toys; his alternate mode will fly. According to the screenwriters, this evil communications officer will appear as a orbiting space satellite.
* RAVAGE: A four-legged, cat-like robot (seen in the trailers and pictured above).
* THE DOCTOR: A spider-like droid that transforms into various implements of torture and has a not-so-nice encounter with star Shia LaBeouf.
* WHEELIE: A small, radio-controlled truck.
* DEMOLISHER: One of the Constructicons that transform into construction vehicles.
* DEVASTATOR: A giant robot formed by the Constructicons joining together; individually, they are: Scavenger, Scrapper, Hightower, Longhaul, Rampage, Overload and Mixmaster.

They totally ruined it by trying to make it "real". As dated as it is, the cartoon movie from the 80s still holds up. The "live action" Transformers just looked like piles of parts moving around. There was barely any identifiability. If it wasn't for Optimus and Bumblebee (only because he was a yellow car), I have no clue which character was which (except Megan Fox of course)

Soundwave as a Satellite is a totally acceptable change. A Satellite can be imposing. A fucking boombox isn't. Both deal with communication. Sondwave managed the spies... a Satellite is more spy-like than a fucking boombox.

Gotta agree with this... You know it's Optimus Prime because he's red and blue. You know it's Bumblebee because he's yellow. Ratchet should've been white, not yellow. Ironhide should've been red, not black. Jazz should've been painted white and blue. The Decepticons have no physical personality whatsoever except for Barricade and possibly Frenzy. They should've taken a chance and added some red and/or purple with Starscream.

The humans in the films are insufferable but the robots are cool.

The jews the action hero, the black guys a computer hacker, the girl wants the christ killer, the soldiers all act like will smith, and the robots are the only ones who act like normal people. Its bizzaro world.

BTW, he's an Army Ranger in the movie.

And as for Ant's little rant...what??? Soldiers can't act human? Don't know alot of people(soldier or not) who'd be a little scared to do something like slide under some monster robot and fire into him while the robot is being pummeled from all sides. I still remember the audio of the shootdown of two Libyan Mig-23s back in 89 and I remember the Tomcat pilots having potty mouths.
At least he just screamed and didn't have some corny one-liners or act all ghetto like Will smith did.

Couldn't agree more "No you didn't shoot that green shit at me" took me outta that movie. Josh Duhamel was great in transformers 1 and I didnt consider that to be an overly cheesy scene. Its instinct to go for the groin area when outmatched.

Soldiers aren't trained to act human, there trained to kill in the most efficient way possible and I'm pretty sure killing doesn't involve action clichés and screaming while you do a extremely risky and unnecessary type of attack. The robot was already being shot down and he just had to dive in for no god dam reason.

Don't get me wrong, I thought Transformers was okay. Better than I expected it to be actually. It was just a good but overall typical action movie. Nothing special or unique about it. I will see the sequel but it's not like something I'm gushing over.

And those robots looked like giant metal things hastily moving in the final battle.

It was basically a Jerry Bruckeheimer-Micheal Bay movie with giant robots thrown in. It had every plot point from their movies in it. I also agree the final battle scenes were a little hard to follow.

I kinda agree that it was unnecessary. They were beating on that robot pretty bad.
Thing is that the F-22, A-10 pilots and the AC-130 & E-3 Sentry crew was probably close to the real thing. In fact the guys in the Sentry scene ad libbed lines they would actually use in a strike to make it sound more genuine.

Funny thing is that if he didn't scream no one would have believed it. Cliches in action movies are a staple of action movies. Still rememeber a movie awhile back about a special forces soldier who's daughter gets kidnapped and all the cliches in that movie. Little movie called "Commando". How good would that movie be without the cliches?
It's usually the stars in the action movie that get all the cliches just to spice up the character and make the audience relate more to the character.

And to be honest, that scream was the only real cliched line from that character and if thats it. That ain't too bad compared to Arnold's "Commando" or Will Smith in "Independence Day".

Didn't like the first one due to a Pissing Bumblebee, Prime saying "My Bad", the whole American Pie Masturbation interlude, too much focus on Humans, Ledouche and his "OOPTIMUUUUUUUS!!!!!!!!!!!!" over and over, the lack of personality put into the Auto/Decep, The fuck scene on top of Bumblebee at the end, etc, etc.

The 2nd one? Ledouche screams more, Megan Fox being there for no reason but because Bay thinks she has a tasty ass (Bet it tastes like an envelope, her tattoos look like shit, her neck is double the normal size, and she has the figure of an 11 year old boy [Oh Uncle Paul]), Bumblebee cries, the shitty lines ("It's not my War." Wow Im glad I have way lower standards. I admit when Bay was attached to direct the first one I was skeptical. I enjoyed it more than the original one in the 80's that killed all the characters in the first 15 mins. The first reimagining had a good story, paid homage to the mythology and had awesome music. I could also tell the robots apart only ones who really looked similiar were Starscream and Megatron. Also cannot disagree more about meghan fox, Ive banged a few good looking chicks and none come close to her. Also when did Bumblebee cry?

Bumblebee cries in the trailer for #2. When I saw the first one, I liked it after I left the theater. Then realized how absolute SHIT the dialogue was, how ass the acting was (vapid cunt megan fox. acting ability of a wet bag of hair), along with a bunch of other valid complaints. A) To each their own.

B) Her bra is pushing her chest up so hard I can hear it screaming. Not only that, but could she arc her chest up and out any more? Doubt it.

C) She is so goddam thin it'd be like fucking bag full of antlers.

D) Feminine and petite? I point again to the same figure as young asian children. I dig a size 10 to a size 14. Guilty as charged. I always thought the women on the cover of your typical chick magazine looked like ass, and did nothing to turn me on. What the world considers average, I consider hot.

E) That picture couldn't be more airbrushed and polished. Nice birthmark she has. Oh wait. That's gone. Nice scar there. Nope, brushed away. Oh nice mole then! That invisible one the computer took off.

Nobody is saying that she has to be a fatty pig fatty. All we are saying is that we wouldn't mind seeing her return to the body she had when she was Two and Half Men.

As for the thread in CE, many of us were saying that all 3 girls in that photo were fuckable. Not just the 12 and the 14.

I cannot express how pissed I was they killed Optimus. However the scene wehn hot rod grasps the matrix and Primes voice utters "Arise Rodimus Prime" still gives me gooesebumps. When You've got the Touch Kicked in I lost it. Awesome scene. Optimus prime was resurrected later on anyway during the red rage episode that was infecting all the humans and Transformers.

That depends on ones definition of fatty. If we're talking the beast that was used in the movie "Feed" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Feed_(film)), then no, that does nothing for me except causing me to goof on that mess. If we're talking 5'10 and 170lbs, and also works out while maintaining a nice cup size? I'm all in.

I'm guilty of disliking the pedestrian, run of the mill, slim/trim bar star. If I had the choice? I'd pass in favor of what I prefer. I was on a desert island? I'd have to make do.

There's not really a middle ground for it. You either dig it, or think it's tripe.

Did I mention how Jetfire farts out a parachute?

The movie is going to make a killing, which stinks because there are those that remember the original with fond memories. Of course that will get railroaded by those that think Devastator's big brass balls are funny as hell, and how the action sequence's are top notch.

I'm pleased you enjoy how I type, iSpeakEloquent. And yes, the acting is indeed ass. Shia screaming out "BUMBLEBEEEEEE!" or "OPTIMUUUUUUUUS!" with an outstretched hand, reeks of the "joy" that was the last Xmen movie.

But, to be redundant, that won't matter since it'll make 1/4 of a billion dollars. Then TF3 will be announced, and people will blindly bend over to watch another movie that's shit, but because it's shiny, they won't mind.

Blech.

Over the top and garish. Great visual popcorn flick, but some shit was just way over the top. Too much pandering to the under 25 crowd with awful humor. The language was too "street". Some of the dialogue by both the robots and humans had me cringing, but the young kids in the crowd were eating it up. More and more, I look like the old fart at the midnight screenings. I wondered if any of these kids ever saw the G1 cartoon in the theater last night?

Two things made this movie watchable for me, though: Optimus Prime being a fucking badass, and Megan Fox running in slow motion repeatedly.

I had some discussions with people on another board who actually had a point, and asked questions, not just made blanket, "boy this movie must be stupid because its not the original cartoon- its not what im used to!!!" comments.

one guy is obsessed with porn internet guy. had sex twice in his life at the age of 32, so is obsessed with fake shit... and this was my response to his inquiry why someone would see this movie...

You know how you watch a porn for a specific girl, and there are all the scenes of her pretending to "catch" the guy jerking off, and the shots of his face, and the fake giggling? Well thats what any scene with a person in Transformers is.

You sit through that shit because you know you are then going to get 5 minutes of POV BJ, a little doggy style action with bad dialouge. In transformers those scenes are transforming robots and exploding buildings.

I watch it. I get what i need out of it, and i feel a little ashamed afterwards... but i know ill come back and watch it again.

I liked the movie but I had a couple problems

1. A lot of the Transformers you never knew who they were. If they would have tightened up the story a bit they could have said who some of the characters were. I would have cared more for devastator if they didnt just bring him out and then have him shot with the cannon.

2. What happened to Wheelie?

3. they must already have a plan for a sequel because of Starscream and Megatrons retreat and also the fact that they didnt even have to battle Soundwave.

4. Was I the only one that thought before they air dropped Prime that they were going to give Bumblebee the Matrix?

5. Did anyone see that atrocious preview for the new M Night movie? The Last Airbender...

It had Independence Day Syndrome just like the first movie, but worse. On the one hand it tries to be serious, making references to terrorism and 9/11 and showing multiple shots of dead soldiers, and on the other hand you have two racial epithets of Autobots making dick and shit jokes, you have John Turturro's amazingly irritating character AND now a younger idiot clone of him that is the "I'm afraid of everything that happens" guy. Be one movie or the other. Because when you're not, the film is a fucking mess. This movie is almost three fucking hours long by the way. I got 4 hours of sleep for work today to see that confused piece of shit.

- Action was too close up, couldn't tell who was doing what.

- Too much Megan Fox. I'm in the seat to see Transformers, not a piece of Tennessee ass.

- Bumblebee pissing on a Turturro. Really? That was funny? Was it?

- No depth of the Bots or Cons respectively. Jazz died? So?

- Prime saying "My Bad". Shut the fuck up. Peter Cullen I hope your tongue falls out.

The greatest hackers in the world are a super model and a black guy.

The super model falls for the ugly jewy kid, neither of which needed to be in the film.

Almost every human is a piece of shit, the one saving grace of the film is that there were actually some good robots. To bad that if you saw it in theaters or on TV as well the camera is so close to them you can hardly tell what machine part is what in fighting scenes. Pan the fuck out, I can't see who the hell is punching what.

Jive-talking twin Transformers raise race issues

In this film publicity image released by Paramount Pictures, twin robots, Skids, AP – In this film publicity image released by Paramount Pictures, twin robots, Skids, left, and Mudflap are …

LOS ANGELES – Harmless comic characters or racist robots? The buzz over the summer blockbuster "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" only grew Wednesday as some said two jive-talking Chevy characters were racial caricatures.

Skids and Mudflap, twin robots disguised as compact hatchbacks, constantly brawl and bicker in rap-inspired street slang. They're forced to acknowledge that they can't read. One has a gold tooth.

As good guys, they fight alongside the Autobots and are intended to provide comic relief. But their traits raise the specter of stereotypes most notably seen when Jar Jar Binks, the clumsy, broken-English speaking alien from "Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace," was criticized as a caricature.

One fan called the Transformers twins "Jar Jar Bots" in a blog post online.

Todd Herrold, who watched the movie in New York City, called the characters "outrageous."

"It's one thing when robot cars are racial stereotypes," he said, "but the movie also had a bucktoothed black guy who is briefly in one scene who's also a stereotype."

"They're like the fools," said 18-year-old Nicholas Govede, also of New York City. "The comic relief in a degrading way."

Not all fans were offended. Twin brothers Jason and William Garcia, 18, who saw the movie in Miami, said they related to the characters — not their illiteracy, but their bickering.

"They were hilarious," Jason said. "Every movie has their standout character, and I think they were the ones for this movie."

In Atlanta, Rico Lawson said people were reading too much into the characters. "It was actually funny," said Lawson, 25, who saw the movie with his girlfriend in Atlanta.

That was the aim, director Michael Bay said in an interview.

"It's done in fun," he said. "I don't know if it's stereotypes — they are robots, by the way. These are the voice actors. This is kind of the direction they were taking the characters and we went with it."

Bay said the twins' parts "were kind of written but not really written, so the voice actors is when we started to really kind of come up with their characters."

Actor Reno Wilson, who is black, voices Mudflap. Tom Kenny, the white actor behind SpongeBob SquarePants, voices Skids.

Wilson said Wednesday that he never imagined viewers might consider the twins to be racial caricatures. When he took the role, he was told that the alien robots learned about human culture through the Web and that the twins were "wannabe gangster types."

"It's an alien who uploaded information from the Internet and put together the conglomeration and formed this cadence, way of speaking and body language that was accumulated over X amount of years of information and that's what came out," the 40-year-old actor said. "If he had uploaded country music, he would have come out like that."

It's not fair to assume the characters are black, he said.

"It could easily be a Transformer that uploaded Kevin Federline data," Wilson said. "They were just like posers to me."

Kenny did not respond to an interview request Wednesday.

"I purely did it for kids," the director said. "Young kids love these robots, because it makes it more accessible to them."

Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman said they followed Bay's lead in creating the twins. Still, the characters aren't integral to the story, and when the action gets serious, they disappear entirely, notes Tasha Robinson, associate entertainment editor at The Onion.

"They don't really have any positive effect on the film," she said. "They only exist to talk in bad ebonics, beat each other up and talk about how stupid each other is."

Hollywood has a track record of using negative stereotypes of black characters for comic relief, said Todd Boyd, a professor of popular culture at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, who has not seen the "Transformers" sequel.

"There's a history of people getting laughs at the expense of African-Americans and African-American culture," Boyd said. "These images are not completely divorced from history even though it's a new movie and even though they're robots and not humans."

American cinema also has a tendency to deal with race indirectly, said Allyson Nadia Field, an assistant professor of cinema and media studies at the University of California, Los Angeles.

"There's a persistent dehumanization of African-Americans throughout Hollywood that displaces issues of race onto non-human entities," said Field, who also hasn't seen the film. "It's not about skin color or robot color. It's about how their actions and language are coded racially."

If these characters weren't animated and instead played by real black actors, "then you might have to admit that it's racist," Robinson said. "But stick it into a robot's mouth, and it's just a robot, it's OK."

But if they're alien robots, she continued, "why do they talk like bad black stereotypes?"

Bay brushes off any whiff of controversy.

"Listen, you're going to have your naysayers on anything," he said. "It's like is everything going to be melba toast? It takes all forms and shapes and sizes." Comment?

$55 mil opening day. Damn. Popcorn movie juggernaut.

Again, as a popcorn movie, it did its job. ILM fucking rules when it comes to special effects, so much so that I almost want to work for them. As cinema, it might have been the most insulting, piece of shit brain killer in ages. As a 30 year old man, the movie was so out of my demo, it's insulting, especially since I should be the demo because The cartoon is 25 years old.

The poster said that they took all of the missteps in the first movie and amplified it was spot on. It's like Michael Bay toned down his first movie, but because it made $300 mil, he figured he didn't need to be reigned in this time and made it the loudest, cliche driven Michael Bay movie ever.

Toss Up: Who makes more cliche-riden movies? Michael Bay or Roland Emmerich?

Your review like many others gives me the Impression he did what Lucas did with episode 1. I'm 32 and hate when a movie like Shrek has better dialog for adults than an action movie. In my opinion Emerich is worse, maybe 2012 will be good. Wonder is Spielberg worked with Bay on Armageddon which along with the first Transormers was good.

I will be fair. The first half of the film is watchable. It's not bad. The second half is a fucking plot mess. By the end you don't even really care. And they take too much with the resurrection of Optimus that you KNEW was going to happen from the second he was killed. There is like ten minutes of Shia running in slow motion and screaming and then he "gets killed" as well and the entire time you know it's a work in some way. But the way that he's brought back is fucking retarded, the ghosts of robots tell him he's a man. At this point if you aren't asking yourself why you're still sitting in the theatre, it's because you've had a severe misfire in your brain.

Did Bay make Bad Boys 2 as well? The Island wasn't anything special, but I also didnt think it was terrible. I just don't expect anything mentally stimulating. If I'm going to watch a Michael Bay movie, I expect to just disconnect my brain for 2 hours and watch things explode. Like you said, the Rock was retarded if you take the plot seriously, but it was fun. Not everything has to be a masterpiece of cinematic achievement to be enjoyable on some level. When I go to see Transformers, I wont expect anything more than robots and explosions and cheeseball dialogue, which, I'm sure is exactly what I'll get.

Dude, this is easily one of the dumbest things I've ever seen posted on the board and this is Wackbag. Holy shit. Of course it's a movie, but that doesn't mean people have to like it if sucks because it comes out in the summer and is centered around special effects, and it certainly doesn't make it good. I'm so damn sick of people settling for films that suck. Don't be gentle with the damn thing, if the movie sucks, SAY IT. Most of these films that people say are "OK", they would never watch again in their life, because in reality..IT SUCKS! Films like Star Trek and The Dark Knight come out, have a plot, a decent enough script, and the people in it know how to act. Yet, pieces of shit come out where the acting sucks ass, the script is nonexistent, and plot...HA! Just because it's a summer movie and there's special effects doesn't mean it gets a pass. Sorry, but even for a summer movie, for me it has to have some other, even minor decent aspects beside the special effects. And, shut up about the opinions thing, everyone is entitled an opinion about a film they see, anywhere, and you'll always hear it, especially on this board. If this forum didn't exist, you wouldn't be able to say anything on this board or even say the thing I'm quoting you on.

Although the 15/70 film and cameras are more expensive, there are now more companies making cameras that shoot in this format. I think IMAX started licensing the tech or something. This might eventually drive down costs.

IMAX is the only reason I go to theaters anymore. Getting a blu-ray rip of a movie (downloading 10 gigs on FIOS is not that bad) and playing it on my projector and sound system is a much better (cheaper, looks + sounds better) alternative then taking the chance to sit with savages at the theater.

Megan Fox runs around still acting like a Lobotomy Patient, same as she did in the first movie. Shia screams "Optimus" or "Bumblebee" for the movie. Prime gets an ax to the heart in the first 1/4 of the movie in the forest battle, but gets brought back by Shia using the matrix and Jetfire's spark, then kicks the shit of the Fallen on the pyramid. Speaking of Pyramids, the navy uses an experimental laser to kill devestator. Shia's mom gets high on pot brownies and that takes a good 20-30 minutes of movie time. Sam dies from Megatron shooting him, but comes back after talking to those in the Autobot afterlife. Multiple dog fucking scenes. Skids/Mudflap act as shitty and annoying as you've heard (car-car binks is thrown around alot). Megatron loses a hand and part of his face but lives and runs away.

For a mindless, convoluted storyline, make a mint even though it's shitty in reality summer movie, it does it's job. Lots of explosions, action shots that are too up close, Megan Fox showing her body and complete lack of acting ability, and a juiced up soundtrack.

i was so disappointed in this movie, I went in with zero expectations and it was still shit. There were a handful of scenes that were really good. If they cut out 75% of the film and added Megan Fox completely naked and pussy lips spread then the movie would've been the best ever..but all we got was autobot heaven....blech.

The two twin "negro" autobots totally ruined the movie. Not that it was that great of a movie otherwise. Why does Hollywood have to force "comic relief" characters upon us in action movies. There were plenty of funny parts without these ass hats. The movie was a total disappointment.

How come there can't be a middle ground? How come it has to be "the movie is based on a toy and therefore has to be shitty" or "what did you expect? An Oscar winning script?" A lot of people liked the first Transformers and that movie wasn't anything particularly special. People going into TRotF are not expecting an intricate character study. Giant Explosion Movies can have their pluses and can even be good. It's like you're trying to rationalize liking the movie by either a) saying it was based on a toy so I don't expect anything nor should I or b) the people who dislike the film are "elitists" for no real reason.

There really wasn't much difference to me between the first and second with the exception that this one actually had more Transformer scenes in it. Both of the scripts were relatively weak.

It was a movie based on a toy is a valid argument since there really is no relevant back story to cultivate from. Even the cartoons that came of it was just infomercials to see more second-rate Go-Bot toys. There aren't any actual well-written stories out there to build off of like the case of Spider-Man and Batman.

And the elitist faggots were already out in full force before I even showed up in the thread.

You can dislike the movie without talking down to the people that liked it like they are fucking rubes especially those who went in with low expectations.

Uh no. I didn't expect Citizen Kane. I also didn't expect a brain ****. It wasn't just the shitty story, I could care less. When I see piles of dead soldiers dramatically floating in the ocean back to back with two racial epithets going, "We ain't much for no readins, Sam" and dick jokes, I have to wonder how anyone could fucking tolerate that unless they weren't raised to know better. You think I'm a film elitist? For fucks sake, one of my favorite movies is DOOMSDAY. This movie had total ID4 syndrome. It doesn't know if it wants to be gritty and real or just goofy, so you get to see Marines get torn to shreds and lines like "this is the worst attack since 9/11" pared with dogs humping each other and John Turturro's ass. And for fuck's sake, he was Jesus the Bowler. What the fuck.

Saw it and it was terrible compared to the first one. The interrogation with Witwicky was a direct ripoff of the interrogation of Neo in the Matrix, I cant remember the line but it sounded like Agent Smith. What happened to developing Witwicky's friendship with bumbelbee, who all of the sudden cant talk at all. Not enough dramatic shots of lebouf with a low camera angle pointed upwards, beyond awful. It was ridiculous in every way. Part of devastator fighting in 2 places at once, bumbelbee cant talk but the Flav a Flav twins can. It ripped off the Keanu reeves interrogation scene in the matrix down to Agent Smith(Megatrons) awful lines. Enough with the 360 degree scanning with the camera. I saw it today.

And you know what?

I ENJOYED IT.

There are a ton of problems with this film. But in the end, it's a Michael Bay special effects extravaganza about giant alien robots fighting one another. That's all you were EVER going to get, and as a summer blockbuster popcorn movie, it does it reasonably well. The story's bizarre (and nonsensical, but then again, you should know that it was going to be nonsensical anyway going into it - it's giant alien robots who transform into things, it's not fucking King Lear you're watching here), there's too much cheap humor, and there's both too much and too little characterization going on, but still, in the end, I was entertained. Even with the flaws.

Oh, and "Grumpy Oldtobot" Jetfire fucking ruled. Too bad we only get to see him be badass for like 60 seconds (supreme badass of the film was Prime, bottom line), but that was a choice 60 seconds. And he killed Scorponok! Which begs the question, where the hell was THAT little fucker hiding for TWO FUCKING YEARS?!?!

By the way......I'm surprised liberals haven't screamed bloody murder about the film yet, given how the smarmy National Security official completely attempts to stop the military from doing its job of fighting the Decepticons, and insinuates that the Autobots are to blame for all of the death & destruction going on. What makes that significant is that it's EXPLICITLY stated that he's acting on the orders of the president - and yes, they ARE talking about Obama. And that also includes him talking about how the president wants to try to exhaust all "diplomatic options" in engaging with the Decepticons. I lauffed.

If you had to pick a single scene that exemplifies Michael Bay's utter disdain for story and continuity, what would it be?
When five Decepticons sink to the bottom of the ocean to retrieve Megatron's corpse. A submarine tracks five "subjects" going down, and when they get there, one of the Decepticons is killed to give parts to Megatron. 5 -1 +1 = 5, right? No, because the sub somehow tracks "six" subjects coming up. Not only is this very basic math, this is the simplest of script errors. It could not possibly have been more than one page apart in the script. And yet Michael Bay either didn't care to notice or didn't give a fuck. "Math? Math is for pussies. My movies are about shit blowing up, man."

Oh and I loved the schwoogie illiterate autobots...

One of the best comments:

Transformers
Transformers 2: ROTF
Transformers 3: LMAO

I have not seen the first two, but I am looking for to LMAO, or at least LOL.

My fav part is this:

And why couldn't an Autobot translate these symbols?
Because Bumblebee is mute and the Racist Twins are poor black robots from the slums of Cybertron who never learned how to read. It's a sad commentary on Cybertronian society. Like The Wire, actually.

I saw that one, but that guy's wrong. 5 robots, minus the one they junked, plus Megatron, PLUS the tiny "Doctor" robot that came out of one of the other Decepticons. So yes, there really WAS six robots coming up.

autobot heaven was right up there with the jive talking robots....the useless plot line of the roommate is a close second (which Bay says will have more to do in the 3rd flick)

Is there even going to be a 3rd one? I heard somewhere that Bay said he didn't want to make one because they take too long and he wants to focus on other projects.

It was exactly what I expected it to be. There was something resembling a plot, but it got lt lost halfway through the movie. There were giant robots destroying the shit out of each other. There were a staggering amount of explosions. There was a really hot chick, who kept getting the camera panned at her beautiful bosom as she ran. This is what I expect out of a Michael Bay movie. It was good mindless action for two and a half hours.

Sure there were a lot of plot holes, juvenile humor, robot heaven (it's where all calculators go to die), but I kind of expected most of that. The one thing I didn't expect was having trouble recognizing whether a robot was a Decepticon or Autobot, while they were fighting. Bay could have rectified that particular mistake.

Take too long? My biggest complaint with this one is that they rushed it. Most franchises take 3 years between releases. Xmen, Spidey, Star Wars, Batman, etc all take 3 years to write, produce and post production. They did Transformers in 2 years with a 5 month writers strike thrown in.

Bay could easily do something else before making Transformers 3.

They did state plainly in the movie that it was an ancient language.

Yes because Hollywood just gives up when a director leaves a franchise.

Actually I never had a problem with Bay as the director. I have been a fan of some of his past movies that he did with Bruckheimer.

Truth be told, of all the directors to do a Transformers movie Michael Bay probably is among the best choices. Doesn't make the movie good, just makes him the right man for the job.

In the next movie, I'd like either more Autobots that talk like white people (did Ironhide say anything?), less Decepticons that just speak in gibberish, and that microscope Transformer just to see what Michael Bay can do with him.

Perceptor.

I was looking at some of the complaints and one struck me. The whole constructicons fighting while devistator is formed thing. You know, I thought that was on purpose. I thought it was a nod to how the Decepticons in the cartoon always had way too many constructicons and reflectors.
