I've been on a Woody Allen kick recently, he's one of my all time favorite actors/directors/authors and I've been re-watching all my DVDs of his films, (Manhattan, Annie Hall, Crimes and Misdemeanors, etc.). When thinking about this today when listening to R&F, it made me remember Ron giving someone on the show, (Dave, maybe, I can't remember), a Woody Allen book, that he really liked. But, I can't remember the title, I own a lot of his books, but I knew I didn't have this one, and meant to pick it up, but never did.

Can anyone help me out?

Thanks

Was it "Without Feathers?"

"Without Feathers" is a legitimately funny book. Couple of great stories and a one act play called "God: a play" that we did in high school, and is really funny.

It may have been, but I thought it was more of an analytical work, about his life, career, and films, but I honestly can't remember. Damn, my shoddy memory, I have a photographic, and usually amazingly good memory, but I can't for the life of me, remember.

DAMMIT!

glenn, you don't have to like the guy, but even Norton points out some influence that Woody has had on him. Woody took old-time "catskills" humor (one of the greatest old-time joke writers, just ask his beneficiaries like bob hope), added existentialism and intellectualism....then became a legitimate artist who took to moviemaking by his own rules. I've said it before, that I think Louis CK has a bit of that ability in him, minus the overthetop jewyness. but in reality woody's relationship to judaism is not even as close as kevin smith to catholicism in dogma.

I just wonder if anyone could ever come along that successfully bucks the hollywood system the way woody has.

p.s. barnes and noble offers a book of "Woody Allen Interviews" (that's the title too) in a directors series that is probably in all their stores.

Without Feathers is the only book of his I've read.
There's a comedy album out there too, and it's fucking hysterical. And I can't stand his movies.
