Guillermo Del Toro is an amazing director. Ive seen his last two films Pan's Labyrinth and The Orphanage(in sub titles though cause they are in Spanish) his special effects vision is amazing. im really looking forward to this film

Can't wait to see this film, I almost never pay to see movies anymore but I plan to see this. Ron Pearlman is the perfect smartass for the role and I'm glad Del Toro fought for a long time to get him hired. "hes to old" go fuck yourself, fucking jew movie owners know jack shit about casting or what people want.

Yeah i dont get the whole he's too old to play a 60 something year old character bullshit. But this and Dark Knight are shaping up to be the best of the summer.

Those are the only two movies I'm going to pay to see. The other films don't deserve any money. The love guru...zohan....HANCOCK....ugh I hope Hollywood just burns to the ground.

So it's not about Hellboy vs Mythical Fairytale Creatures attempting to take back what they consider theirs ie Earth? Look its pretty simple if you didnt like the first Hellboy you just dont like the Character period, Cause what is in the comics is pretty much what we got back in the first one.

I must say I went into the first movie knowing nothing about the character and I loved it. The most underrated Comic book movie.

I never read the comic till about two years after it came to DVD and I fucking loved it.

I personally don't really care much about mythical bullshit like the other guy was saying I just want to see Ron Pearlman whoop some ass and be the sarcastic ass he was born to play. Its a super hero character with his real life personality, hes perfect for the role. Ron just rules.

quite possibly the worst movie i have ever seen. over the top cheesy ridiculously unfunny jokes. the dude with eyes on his wings looked like it was regurgitated from pan's labyrinth. i highly recommend to everyone not spending money and seeing this game; you will only be disappointed.

I saw it Friday night and thought it was pretty decent. Visual effects were great, very Pan's Labyrinth-esque (especially what the previous poster said about the guy with the eyes on his wings). One major gripe was the Golden Army itself, or lack thereof.

88% on Rotten Tomatoes right now. I might go see this later during the week when it isnt going to be crowded. I might skip it to see Dark Knight, though.

It was visually surreal and very funny too. Great movie and I recommend you see it on the big screen to get the full effect.

I thought it was ok. Visually outstanding and I liked the characters but the story/script could have used some work. Some issues were raised and didn't really come to anything, many jokes fell flat (but that could have been my audience), and the action scenes were somewhat anticlimactic. The best sequence in the movie was the story John Hurt tells to young Hellboy.

Ooo I gotta disagree. I thought young Hellboy was the worst visuals in the movie. Took me right out of it. John Hurt is always great and I liked how they covered the exposition w/what looked like puppets. That was cool! The story was a bit lacking, but this was the best comic book villain of the season (so far).

Saw it last night. Visually stunning. But I think the story could have been edited down a little bit more. There was a lot of different threads that got started, but few got really fleshed out. It teases you in that way.

It does challenge you, because I don't think the villian is purely evil.

Also, the Golden Army is supposed to be only 70 x 70 or 4900 soldiers. Doesn't sound like all that many. In the shots, it looks like much more than that.

I thought it was so-so as well. John Hurt's story acted out in the beginning, was definitely the part that kind of, interested-captivated me the most out of all the scenes and action sequences. Young Hellboy annoyed me to even look at. Even the plant scene, that in the trailer, was built up to be this big amazing scene wasn't that great. I also didn't like the fact that Mr. Del Toro was trying to squeeze so much in, in such a short time, with practically no development of new characters and situations, etc. It seemed like they told the guy, that he could only make an hour and 50 minute flick, and no longer. I think if he had some more time, it would have been far more enjoyable. But, decent summer flick overall, worth a watch, and IMO, better than the original in a quite a few ways.

well the Golden Army are Indestructible. And for a movie that was made roughly with around the same budget the first one was that movie was pretty impressive.

I saw Hellboy II and it was interesting. I'm not a fan of those types of movies but it was interesting, but the ending kind of ruined it. If the princess and the prince are linked together and they fell each others pain or whatever then why wouldn't she just kill herself to begin with knowing what her brother was going to do. That kind of took my away from the whole story.
Also i picked up that "fire" was a symbol and theme.

Good movie to say the least

BTW, if anyone's interested, Cartoon Network is showing the two Hellboy made for TV movies they made a couple of years ago back to back starting @ 8pm. I saw the first one when it premiered and it was pretty good but I havent seen the second one yet. Im going to DVR it, though.
