Hunter really wasn't terribly fond of Bill Murray's take on him.

That's a shame, I liked that movie a hell of a lot more than the Depp piece of garbage.

I know there are plenty of people, who either hate Depp's performance or hate Murray's. But, I'm such a big HST fan, I loved them both. I think they bought brought their share of good things to his character in film, when adopting the persona. I immensely enjoyed and own, both, "Fear and Loathing" and "Where the Buffalo Roam", and they're both two of my favorites. But, in the end, I still think on the side of portraying Hunter, Depp got more into the character and studied it better, and why I enjoyed it more, and why Hunter I think did as well, as you can tell from various documentaries.

I didn't really see a whole lot of difference in their 'portrayals', and I saw Fear and Loathing as a movie with a lot of unnecessary CGI bullshit, and hated it.
I think Murray actually had to act, rather than just clench a cigarette holder between his teeth and try and talk around it, while faking that something was happening.
