I don't like top-down view RPGs. Seems the graphics are wasted on the shoulders and head.

If I can't see farther than 50 yards, it's hard to feel like I'm a part of the world, and RPG's are all about feeling like you're a part of the game, rather than just watching the story from a birds-eye view.

Theres a gameplay movie on the site along with a bit of narration. It runs about 15 minutes long and it shows the Barbarian doing his thing. Looks great.

I agree but the Diablo franchise has such a hardcore following (much like Starcraft) that if they tried to bring it into full first or third person there would be a bloodletting by fans at Blizzard.

I'm not saying they need to change it, I'm just saying I'm not a fan of the genre. It seems like Diablo 3 has such great graphics, but what's the point if you're not looking at the whole picture? It's like lifting up the Mona Lisa's shirt and only seeing one tit.

I will say that during the gameplay video, they showed a closeup, alternate view.

While I'd love to say it looks like more of the same, and the new stuff they add would mean nothing in the long run, it wouldn't matter to any that's a fan with blizzard including myself.

They didn't spend a whole lot of time in art production for the game. All the characters look like miniture world of warcraft players. I would like to see some gameplay before really judging the game though since I never played the first.

Just watched it too, looked good but is this game an MMO or is it a single player with the option to play multiplayer? Also can anyone tell me if past diablo games had monthly payments?

It is a single player with the option to play multiplayer. Also all Diablo game have been free to play on battle.net.

Thanks, so its like Neverwinter Nights with free monthly play but it has a good multiplayer option. I can't afford to play MMO's anymore and I don't have the time to play them either.

I lost my Diablo discs, so I purchased the Battle Chest. I installed Diablo, but I think I also need to install Diablo II soon. It should probably scream on my laptop.

Did they officially say that it would be free to play online on Battle.net? They made tons of money using the WoW model and got away with it, I don't see why they can't do the same with Diablo 3.

Battle.net has always been free, and I dont see why Blizzard would change that now.

Yes. Go to the blizzard store and you make an account. then "add games" type in your cdkeys and then you can download the games from blizzard.

Alright then I'll give it a go since it will be a long time before 3 comes out. I'm a big RPG fan so I can appreciate a good story and character building even if the graphics aren't great. Right now I'm actually replaying neverwinter nights one but in the form of the diamond edition which has all the expansions with it.

Diablo was never about graphical power. It was always about the gameplay. The gameplay still holds up.

I put Diablo 2 on my computer and my girlfriend's computer, she never played through Diablo 2 all the way, but Diablo 1 was one of the only games she ever played before EQ and WoW.

Blizzard has confirmed that it is working on a new massively multiplayer online game not connected to the World of Warcraft universe, according to a post on the official WoW message boards earlier this month.

Reported today by Wired's Game|Life blog, the assurance is music to the ears of MMO junkies jonesing for a new drug from the online gaming world's biggest brand.

In response to questions on the WoW boards about a recent job posting, Blizzard community rep Drysc confirmed that the company "an unannounced next-gen MMO." Anticipating the inevitable turn the thread would take, Drysc adds, "and that doesn't mean it's an expansion for World of Warcraft either."

In January, IGN reported that Blizzard (now part of the recently-formed Activision Blizzard) had plans for a new MMO and that it would not be based on WoW or anything too similar to the company's past projects.
