Are you tired of how slow Visa copies files locally or over a network? I have to run Vista ... for reasons I won't get into. I copied an 8 gig file over a local network and it was going to take 20 minutes. I heard this trick a while ago, but I was just now pissed off enough to try it. You run XP in virtual machines, add your local drives as network drives. You should also see the other computers on your shared network. Use the virtual XP machine to copy files from your local drives and over the network. The 8 gig file only took 6 minutes. Even copying files from one drive to another drive on your machine takes less time. Browsing files on any of the drives is snappy as hell. Vista isn't indexing, collating, phoning home to bill to compare recipes, or whatever background tasks that make Vista so fucking slow. :arrrh:

My file transfer speed jumped a lot after the SP1 update.

Do this:
In vista: Open control Panel.
Open "Programs and Features"
Click "Turn Windows features on and off"
UN-Check "Remote Differential Compression"
