How about they quit fucking around and add useful things instead of worrying about "trophies" that you get nothing for. I play games for the experience, not to "earn" stupid fucking trophies that get you nothing for unlocking them.

the trophies idea is fucking garbage. i dont mind achievement points, but sony is creative enough to come up with something innovative, the copycat shit is sad. and plus, the tropies arent earned retroactively. having said that, theres a nice little rumor out there that psn will start selling ps2 games

most people do acknowledge the in game xmb. the complaint is that this should have come sooner at the expense of all the other unnecessary stuff. sony has been the gaming innovator for the last 10 years. everything they have been doing this generation has been "me too."

do you remember the original ps3 controller? it looked like a boomerang, then xbox released their controller, then the wiimote was released, so sony tried to change their controller, last minute, to compete with the xbox's feel in your hand, with their original model, while adding motion detection to compete with the wii. they got caught with their pants down and had to remove the vibration due to patent issues.

trophies would be cool, but its already been done by microsoft. thats zero creativity, nothing unique or native to playstation. do you think activision is going to make 2 different sets of trophies achievements for the next Call of duty? or any third party developer that makes a ps3/360 game? plus, ps3 is already 2 years in the game, and still doesnt have a better library than xbox, AND trophies arent earned retroactively. adding things like this is taking away from what made them the leader the last 10 years. They have the superior technology on their side, and they need to start putting the resources to it

As a 360 owner, and recent owner of a PS3 (80gb mgs4 bundle) i like the trophy system coming out, i just wish that more games were going to support it. Only a small handful of games will even have em on the 2nd, and popular games that are already out aren't even confirmed to support them via patch - like MGS4, and who knows when they would add it? I wanted to start my 2nd play through of MGS4 but i'd rather get some trophies for it if they are being patched in soon.

No software update is more important than the development of more games. While the XMB and trophy system may be arguably nice perks for current PS3 owners, I dont think these features are going to sell more systems. If Sony is going to start to chip away at that 3 billion dollar deficit, they're going to need more exclusive software. The kind of software that sells the console, the way MGS4 has clearly done.
Hopefully at E3 we'll find out what's coming next from the teams that made God of War, Ico/Shadow of the Colossus, and since Ninja Theory sadly wont be making a Heavenly Sword sequel, it'd be nice to hear that they were working on some new original franchise.
Not to mention we're over due on a status report from the guys working on Infamous.

The team responsible for the firmware updates and all that they entail is completely seperate from any game software development. So take that into consideration...updates features on the system isn't taking away from software devs.

It's not confirmed that trophies aren't retroactive, but it doesn't matter. All dev teams will be getting the opportunity to put the trophy system into their games, or not. For those that do get them patched in, I'll play them again just for the trophy. If not, no big deal.

I think it was confirmed that trophies are not retroactive to prevent lazy fuckers from downloading someone else's save file to collect their trophy. Everyone starts at fresh at zero when the trophy system goes live.

I agree. Who cares who came up with the idea first? Sony will be using their trophy "achievement" system differently from how MS did theirs. If it makes games more replayable and makes games more fun, then who gives a shit where the idea came from? If anything, give MS credit for coming up with it.

Some people were getting bugs that required a bit more than button and settings being changed to get past so they yanked the new 2.40 update till they can devise a patch.

It's a pretty nifty sandbox game. All you do is launch your character with a slingshot and try to do as much damage as possible. I like it but I can see how some wouldn't get into it.

PAIN is a lot of fun and worth the download price. There are plenty of mini games as well as a nice leaderboard to compare scores....lots of unlockables and achivements to go for.

Any game that lets you harm a mime is a good game.

The huge in-game XMB PS3 update that was pulled from PSN last week following technical issues will be re-released for download by Wednesday, CVG has been told. According to customer support, firmware version 2.41, which should be clear of all errors, will out "midweek", although Sony is yet to make an official announcement to confirm that.

In case you missed it, Sony last week was forced to pull the hotly anticipated update (http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=192154) after widespread reports of it breaking PS3 consoles.

The firmware is available to download from various website on the internet, but to be on the safe side you'd be best to wait for the update from Sony.

To those complaining about the "trophy" system not being innovative - who cares? I could not care less if Sony is just ripping off MS' achievement system, because it's just a wise decision to install it. The Xbox achievement system greatly increases the replay value of the Xbox games, and in the past it's actually influenced my decision as to whether to pick up a certain title that's available on both platforms. If Sony has created a similar achievement system, that's going to increase the replay value of its games and possibly even persuade me to buy more of its non-exclusive games.
