Cliffs Notes Version:
JR was giving his farewell to Raw speech. Edge comes in and acts like Edge. Edges little friends(Damnit forgot their names) escort JR out. Edge insults Raw/Oklahoma City. Batista comes out. Gets in Edge's face. Beats snot out of Edge. CM Punk comes out with a ref as Edge is laying in ring. CM Punk cashes in $ in the bank. Punk gives Edge go to sleep. Punk wins World Heavyweight title.

They started out on the right track, the end of Raw last night was pretty entertaining with the title defense and then Cena and Crime Tyme beating up JR's "security."

That's how Edge won his first title. It all depends how they book him now. If they give him a chance to be strong, which he was all throughout the show last night, he'll be a top guy.
They've got something special in Punk, and I really hope they make this a start of being in the business of creating stars.

I share in everybody else's joy about CM Punk winning the title last night. Although, I wasn't ready to jump for joy, until the program went off the air, with Punk still holding the title. Its funny, with CM Punk as the champion, Kofi holding the IC title, and Rhodes/Dibiase being the tag team champs, the model that should have been used for ECW, is being used on Raw.
Cena with Crime Time, I think the WWE must be reading Wackbag's Booking Thread.

I agree about the ECW thing 100 %, but the whole Rhodes/Dibiase thing they need to kill quick. That match sucked and you could hear Crickets when they cut there promos last night. I kinda felt bad for them because they thought it was this HUGE thing and ended up being just 2 guys with Ledgendary Dads who built a tag team 20 years later. Just because you have someones last name doenst make you good.

To be fair, that match probably would have been more interesting if Rhodes/Dibiase weren't facing two jobbers. As for the comparison to David Flair, at least the other two guys actually look like they belong in a wrestling ring.

The crowd actually began to get into the promo at the end. You can't expect the crowd to be going crazy for them immediately, though. You're being unbelievably too hard on them, Topher. Cody has been on the roster for about 8 months, and all he's ever done up to this point is team with Bob Holly and wrestle a bunch of other not over tag teams with no storylines. All DiBiase has done so far is pull a swerve on Bob Holly, who nobody cares about.
That's not going to get ANYBODY heat, no matter who they are. Give them some time to actually do something interesting against somebody interesting.

Haven't watched ECW yet, but Mark Henry has been an entertaining monster for a while, except when he's been out injured, which has been somewhat regular.
Say this about Henry, he signed a huge deal after teh Olympics, and they've saddled him with a lot of crappy gimmicks and roles to play...and the guy comes to work and does his job. If he stays healthy, he could be a fun monster on ECW.
It's not like he gets paid more to carry the belt...least not that belt.
Plus-Henry gives a decent promo. And next to "Biscuits and Gravy" he may have around the coolest music in WWE.

Overall, a decent ECW. Opening segment was ok. Tag match was fun. Atlas Ortiz is green, but I like them bringing up guys from FCW to work in ECW, which is after all a developmental territory with TV...
And I liked that they replayed the Punk title win. If they treat it like its important, that's a good thing.
Curious though-there is now only one belt on Smackdown...actually could be interesting what they do there....

Oh and watching ECW. I want to congratulate Mark Henry for winning the ECW Championship, on his own merit. Oh wait, you only won because the WWE had to cover their asses after an idiot ran his mouth.
Does anyone realize that ever since ECW came back, basically every title change happened because of controversy?
Big Show beat RVD because RVD got suspended for getting arrested for smoking weed with Sabu
Bobby Lashley beat Big Show because Big Sow wanted out of his contract
Then, Vince won the title basically to rub it in Paul Heyman's face that he runs ECW now
Lashley beat Vince, which wasn't really controversial, but most of the title changes were.
Vince took the title from Bobby Lashley because he went to Raw, and because Bobby Lashley helped Vince become a bald billionare
John Morrison won the title cause Chris Benoit went and killed his family, and then himself.
CM Punk beat John Morrison because he got suspended after everyone bought drugs online.
Chavo beat CM Punk, I can't remember why. Did CM Punk get suspended?
Kane beat Chavo cause Chavo was hanging out with TNA guys during Wrestlemania weekend, and didn't Chavo get suspended?
and now
Mark Henry beat Kane cause Michael Hayes called him a n*gg*r

To my knowledge Punk has never been suspended. Perhaps they actually had the MiTB and the Draft title change scenario planned out that far back?

Okay i have to say wow i am pissed that i missed Raw this week.
I still have to watch Raw, i just got home so i will post my thoughts on Raw then but what i do have to say is, First i agree with Commish when he was talking about Ted and Cody, give them time and they will produce. Honestly what was the point in having at PPV with all titles up for grabs when only i think 3 changed hands?
I'm glad for Mark Henry, that he finally won a "major" title.
I am also happy for Kofi even though it meant that Y2J had to lose the belt.
Then i agree with what everyone else has said about CM Punk, it is great that he finally won the big one.
Monday afternoon i was reading im my hotel room and i thought since i new the outcome of the PPV that Punk was going to cash in soon because Raw didnt have a major belt at the time but i didnt get a chance to post it.
It is damn nice to be back even though it will be short lived because I'm headed out again on Sunday this time for two weeks....:icon_roll but i will try and get to a computer.
It is also Damn Nice to have CM Punk as our World Heavyweight Champion

3. HBK Wins in the Elimination Chamber
4. Ultimate Warrior defeats the Honky Tonk Man
5. Shane Douglas wins and refuses the NWA title
6. Goldberg Defeats Hollywood Hogan
7. Mankind Defeats the Rock to win the WWF Title
8. Edge and Christian win TLC II
9. Hulk Hogan Defeats the Iron Skeik

12. Ultimate Warrior Defeats Hogan
I also loved how Cryme Tyme was with Cena on Raw haha.

Why Finlay was moved to ECW-
-- As noted earlier, Finlay was moved to ECW in last week's Supplemental Draft. Officials made the decision to move Finlay to ECW to help young wrestlers make the transition between developmental and the main roster what with his role as a wrestler/coach. The wrestler/coach role was originally earmarked for Chris Benoit last year, but the company had no one to take it over after his sudden suicide.

So i finally watched Raw and it was a really great Raw, i can only hope that they keep this up in the near future. CM Punk Winning gave me goosebumps and it was a great moment. I love it when the superstars show that raw emotion after they win a title.
As i posted earlier give Ted and Cody some time and they will produce i hope that they can really develop into top heels on Raw. I'm glad for Kofi, i just hope that this means that Y2J gets a world title shot soon, they can re-hash the Y2J vs. Punk Feud that they sort of had right after Wrestlemania.
Also this is for Mark, on the WWE Auction thing people are biding on a signed CM Punk Wresltemania Turnbuckle. So far it is up to $252.00 and the biding ends 7/6/08. I thought that people would be interested.

WWE SmackDown Taping Results (07/04) *Spoilers*
07/01/2008 by Ryan Gray
WWE taped this week's edition of Friday Night SmackDown from the Tulsa Convention Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Special thanks to Wrestling News World Readers Andrew Aukerman, Katie, Shawn Bates and Tony Huffman for texting the following results. If you are attending a WWE event in the near future and would be interested in assisting us as a live correspondent, please email me.
Dark Match:
* Vladamir Kozlov b. Trevor Murdoch
Before the match, Murdoch sang God Bless America
SmackDown: (Airing Friday 07/04)
* Michael Cole comes out to ringside to say "goodbye" to SmackDown fans. Jim Ross interrupts him, and boots him out for being a Texas fan. Here comes Mick Foley.
* The show opens with Triple H in MVP's V.I.P Lounge. Hunter calls MVP a power ranger and shows the video of Edge losing the World Championship. He then says Edge got "Punked up."
* Edge comes out and says he is happy for his and Vickie's wedding. He says they should go to Las Vegas. I'm told Vickie is drawing a ton of heat, making it very hard to hear what is going on. Triple H interrupts by saying he would never sleep with Vickie but she is nicer looking than any other woman Edge has ever been with. Triple H vs. Edge is then set up for The Great American Bash pay-per-view later this month.
* Michelle McCool b. Victoria, Kelly Kelly, Maryse, & Cherry.
McCool will now face Natalya for the new diva championship title.
* Jesse & Festus b. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
Festus got the pin for the win. After the match Edge comes to the ring and cleans house on Jesse & Festus.
* They cut to a video segment of Edge arguing with Vickie.
* Jeff Hardy b. John Morrison
I'm told Hardy got the win after hitting the Swanton.
* Umaga b. Funaki in a squash match.
* Matt Hardy b. Shelton Benjamin, Chavo Guerrero, & Ken Kennedy is in a fatal four way match to retain the United States Championship.
* Edge comes out and says this is a bunch of crab. He says he will be WWE Champion at The Great American Bash and goes on to say that he made Vickie, Ryder, and Hawkins what they were and no one likes him because he's a warrior.
Vickie comes out and Edge tells her the wedding is off.
Dark Main Event:
* Triple H & Big Show b. Mark Henry & Edge
Big Show makes fun of Edge and calls him a baby. Triple H helps Big Show. Edge walks out as Big Show & Triple H get the win.
also i read that the wwe will be working on a Batista DVD and it will formatted like John Cena's DVD.

I don't think Mark Henry won the title because of the Hayes incident. I have never understood the fascination that the WWE has had with Mark Henry. However, you can't deny the fact that guy has been with the company long enough, that he should get a run with a major title.
Oh CM Punk wasn't suspended, I think him dropping the ECW title was preparing him for his eventual drafting to another brand.

Kennedy news and hot Mickie article
-- Mr. Kennedy isn't expected to get much of a push despite his move back to SmackDown, reports the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. The feeling is that he'll continue to tread water and pretty much stay in the same position he's been treading on Raw during the past year.
-- The latest issue of WWE Magazine has an interview with Women's Champion Mickie James. They asked her if she ever thought about locking lips with Beth Phoenix the way she did with Trish Stratus a few years ago. Mickie said, "I thought about it. In fact, it seemed to me like Beth was the one playing games. Playing mindgames with her could've been dangerous because she's so mentally tough. And, while she's definitely beautiful, she's just not my type. I don't know if I'd want to give her a long kiss goodnight." When asked about the rumors of her doing a clothing line, Mickie says that a lot of the manufactured clothes don't fit her too well and that she has to buy bigger jeans to fit over hips. "Right now, all I have is two outfits made. I'm shooting for eight. It's in the beginning stages, but it's cool because I own these products and can shop to manufacturers. I find it hard to buy clothes -- they just don't fit me. I'm not tall, and I have a small waist, but I have to get jeans that are bigger to fit over my hips. A lot of girls are like that. Everybody isn't shaped the same. I've got all these crazy ideas and eventually I'd like to do guys' stuff too." Mickie also talks about the "worst feeling" in a match being a wardrobe malfunction, which appears to indirectly explain the reason why she stopped wrestling in short skirts a little over a year ago. She's asked about her favorite wrestling outfit. Mickie says, "I love my denim outfit because it's so comfortable, and I feel cool wearing. I loved the blue and orange one with rhinestones and flowers on the bottom. The pants were a little too big for me and they kept slipping. That's the worst feeling when you're in a match and you know there's nothing you can do about a wardrobe malfunction." They also ask her, "Which Diva's fingerprints would you expect to find on the knife that stabs you in the back?" Mickie replies, "Michelle McCool's. Being on SmackDown, she hasn't had a shot at the Women's Title yet. She's hungry. Or maybe even my dear friend Candice. She'd been out with an injury -- an injury that actually cost her a title match. She definitely wants her shot. But when I'm a Champion, I'm a fighting Champion. So I say, "Bring it on."

Edge is WWE's brightest star
By PAUL HEYMAN
Published: 03 Jul 2008
There's a tangible buzz surrounding World Wrestling Entertainment programming right now. They're shaking things up.
Major talent has switched brands, creating the opportunity for new storylines, new matches, new rivalries, new concepts, new everything.
Young talent is getting the exhilarating "sink or swim" chance to be involved in major moments, participate in the focal points of the show, and even ... perhaps ... break through into the top tier.
Just look at the title holders on Raw at the moment. CM Punk is the Raw world champion. Kofi Kingston is the intercontinental champion. Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes are the tag team champions.
While "new" for the sake of "new" is not good, the statement being made by WWE to its audience is: "We're taking chances, we're trying new things, we're giving the ball to new players and seeing who scores."
Smackdown, where you can see the best tag team in the industry today - Miz and John Morrison - has seen a huge influx of main event talent.
Jeff Hardy, who continues to tickle the main event ivories, is now on Smackdown. Mr Kennedy, who has everything it takes to be a WrestleMania main eventer, is going to announce his name twice on the Smackdown brand.
And while Smackdown brings aboard the best announcer in the business in Jim Ross, still presents Miz and Morrison, gains the services of the most dedicated Diva from Monday Nights in Maria, and still retains The Undertaker, the brand now has HHH as the WWE Champion as well.
Not a bad pickup for a show headed to a new American broadcast network this autumn.
But if you watched Monday Night Raw this week, and saw the memorable series of events that ended with Punk as the new champion, then you witnessed a perfect example of star power at its finest.
Jim Ross was emotional and gracious in his speech. Batista looked like the "Animal" he is supposed to be. Punk played his role exactly the way he should, and the audience ate up every moment of it.
And the proverbial "straw that stirred the drink," the centrepiece of this superb 20 minutes of television was the single best heel WWE has on the active roster, Adam "Edge" Copeland.
A phenomenal worker with rock star looks, Copeland knows how to present the "Edge" character so no one has the inclination to cheer him.
His charisma alone could carry an entire show - and, bluntly, he's had Smackdown on his shoulders for longer than most people realize - but Copeland's portrayal of the scheming, manipulative, opportunistic Edge is played in such a way that you simply want to see him get beat or perhaps more importantly, beat up.
His heat is so grand, you don't just want to see him get beat up, you need to see it. You have to see it. You crave that moment. You'll even PAY for it.
On Monday night, Edge came out with Hawkins and Ryder.
The high-tech, pyro-enhanced entrance elicited a great heel reaction from the crowd. The way Edge "psychs himself up" before coming down to the ring is played up with exaggerated facial expressions and cockiness, but it's very real within the persona he presents.
And people get their blood up just watching up pump himself up.
Edge's heel promo on Jim Ross was delivered with such conviction, the viewer at home felt the angst of the live crowd worrying that once again, Good Ol' JR was going to get slapped around in Oklahoma.
Edge's range was amazing, too. From the frothing-at-the-mouth-anticipation of JR screaming "Edge wins! Edge wins! Edge wins!" to the envisioned-orgasm as he described "the love of my life" - dramatic pause, then emphasis - "Vickie Guerrero," Edge's promo was, as they say, one for the ages.
He had such heel heat by the time he punked out everyone from Ross to Undertaker to the Raw program itself, people were salivating at the mere thought that someone, somehow, someday would just smash this bastard.
Batista came out and delivered a ferocious beating to Edge, and the live audience came unglued.
No amount of punishment would truly serve justice. Edge deserved a heinous beating, and that's exactly what Big Dave delivered.
Only one Terry Funk-like swing and a miss from Edge, and the rest of the physicality was Batista annihilating the world champion.
So when Batista drove Edge's battered body into the canvas with the Batista Bomb, the audience was satisfied, right? The desire to see Edge get his due, suffer his fate, was fulfilled, of course. Wasn't it?
Not a chance. Edge's heat was still intact. That says something about the way he set that heat, the intensity with which he got the audience to believe in his character, to live that moment with him.
Edge, barely conscious, a pulverized quivering lump lying on the canvas, was still worthy of the audience's desire to see something bad happen to that character.
And for that character, things went from bad to worse when " Mr Money in the Bank" CM Punk came out, and hoisted Edge up on his shoulders for that fateful moment before hitting the GTS.
You could see live crowd going nuts not only because they knew history was about to be made, but because they simply wanted to see Edge get smashed in the face again. For Adam Copeland, this is everything he worked for.
This is when the heel gives of himself and MAKES a babyface.
Punk wins! Punk wins! Punk wins!
And just as importantly, Edge loses. See, that's the part that Adam Copeland understands better than anyone else in the industry today.
He's the best heel in the world, because even though he didn't touch one person, he had scorching heat on Monday night.
He didn't slap JR. He didn't shove down Lilian Garcia. He didn't set fire to a Sooners flag. He didn't do anything but deliver a heel promo like a true villain should.
And he had such heat for his words and the manner in which he presented them, that a beating from Batista, and the subsequent loss of his world title didn't even begin to take that heat off of him.
The beaten, battered, humiliated, and no-longer-champion Edge is still the main event heel on Smackdown, and he should be.
People are still clamouring for him to get beat ... or beat up.
When fans talk about the upcoming WWE Title Match at the Great American Bash between Edge and HHH, they actually start fantasizing about the beating Edge might take, or how cool it would be if HHH uses the sledgehammer.
Or if Edge were about to beat HHH somehow, and Undertaker would make his return.
All sorts of scenarios are running through people's minds. People are excited when they talk about Edge. Fans are only too happy to imagine the next defeat or humiliation that will befall wrestling's most hated man.
In about three to six months, when you look back on the 2008 WWE Draft, ask yourself: "What was the most significant move of the draft this year?"
Was it HHH to Smackdown? Was it Batista to Raw? Was it Jim Ross and Michael Cole switching roles? Was it CM Punk being moved to Raw with the Money In the Bank yet to be cashed in?
Perhaps, in a few months, when all the moves have settled in, and WWE starts pushing WrestleMania to the forefront, I think we'll realize the most significant move -especially for Smackdown - of the 2008 roster overhaul was the move that didn't happen.
Edge stayed right where he was.
Smackdown retained its greatest asset.
The single best heel in sports entertainment, with money matches against Undertaker, HHH, Jeff Hardy, Mr Kennedy, and anyone else he steps in the ring with, continued on his journey to the WWE Hall of Fame.
And the ultimate beneficiary of the "non-move" was the show that has been built on his heat.
Adam Copeland is the brightest superstar in World Wrestling Entertainment today.
That is his Edge.

I saw the Heyman thing on another board, and this was my response there:
I disagree. Edge has very little range. He has "gritting his teeth and talking through them", "wide-eyed and scared crapless" and "smarmy, overconfident worm". Plus, he does the same thing to show both frustration and anticipation. He strains his face and harshly runs his hands through his hair.
Edge is good. He's real good. And I'm a big fan of him and I want him to do nothing but continue to succeed. But he's not the immense wealth of talent everybody thinks he is. The honest truth is that he got lucky.
He was pretty much floundering around in the mid-card with nothing going for him. WWE gave him a shot by giving him the MITB, but he was still a mid-card act wrestling other mid-card acts. Then, his actions behind the scenes (cheating on his wife with his former best friend's girlfriend of 6 years) ended up getting Matt Hardy fired. Because of this, the fans went crazy, pissed, in real life, at both Edge and Lita. So to capitalize on this set of unlikely circumstances, they put Edge and Lita together on television and made a real life betrayal into a storyline.
That's what got Edge over huge. And then once that storyline was over with, Edge went on to spend an entire year feuding with the top star in the company, John Cena. Again, a hell of a way to keep your heat up. And THEN, thanks to Mr. Kennedy's injury, Edge got another lucky break and got pushed into a feud with Undertaker and Batista, the two most over guys on the other brand, also the other two most over guys in the entire company.
And now he's paired up with Vickie Guerrero, who has become the most hated heel in the entire company.
Edge's career as a main eventer adds up to being a bunch of lucky breaks in which somebody else was a victim, and he benefited from it. And on top of that, he's been able to leech heat from a bunch of people who were substantially more over than he was.
Like I said above, I'm not denying that Edge deserves to be where he is. He absolutely does. He's always been very good, and he does have the ability to be a top guy in the company. He's just not as good as everybody thinks he is. He's just one of the luckiest guys ever.

A fantastic column by Heyman, I found myself nodding my head, with some of his points. He is a pretty good writer, as well. However, the WWE writing team does deserve some the credit that Heyman is giving to Edge. If it wasn't for Vickie, then Edge wouldn't be drawing this much heat. The WWE writing team built Vicke up, and subsequently some of the heat for Edge, but Paulie couldn't point that one out, could he?
Edit:
Commish got to the Vickie point first, and the Lita/Hardy/Edge, ah well. I do kinda disagree with Edge being where he is here, completely, because of lucky breaks

YOu are totally wrong Edge is the top Heel in the WWE today and Heyman's comments and what he wrote was 100% true. As for what you said the "Lucky breaks" so it was a lucky break when he beat Taker for the belt not counting the times when he cashes in MITB. How about when he Beat RVD for the belt yes i know the whole drug thing but, they wouldnt have given him the belt if they didnt have confidence in him to do so and produce....which he did.
His programs with Cena
His program/s with Taker, Batista
All of those main event feuds.
Edge produces in every match that he is in Wrestlemania, TLC matches or Smackdown matches he produces every time and he has earned his spot atop the WWE

I'm not going to go back and read over the comments from Monday or whenever (truth be told, I don't want to be hit with any remnants of Mark's jizz) but I just wanted to give my take on the whole thing (since I am important afterall).
I'm happy that Punk won but I don't really like the way they had him win. I think JD mentioned him using the briefcase in this manner and I didn't like the idea then and still don't. They make him look weak as the babyface winning like this. And they couldn't even have him beat JBL clean without any antics at all? What was the fucking point of Cena being there at all? Are we going to be treated to an extended version of Cena/JBL? Fuck.
I'm happy he won but they better go out and make him look strong instead of this fucking booking and then wonder why he isn't drawing as well as he should.

Some good points. But he basically pulled an Edge on Edge, so that makes it a bit more ok. To be honest, most of us were bracing for them to flip the belt to JBL at the end of the show so we were just happy he kept the belt til next week. But yes, the definitely have to put him over more unless they're sadly using him as a transition to get the belt to Raw.

So can I safely assume that you decided to read that I disagree with Heyman and then ignore everything else I wrote?
Edge is the top heel right now. Of course. He's just not the second coming of Jesus like so many people (including Heyman) have decided that he is. Was it a lucky break when he beat 'Taker for the belt? Sort of, yeah. 'Taker was set to take another one of his breaks, and he was feuding with Edge, so they had Edge take him out of action. It's not like 'Taker had been feuding with John Cena for the past 5 months and then they decided to have Edge be the one to get rid of him. Edge has been feuding on and off with Undertaker for over a year, and at the time of their ONS match, they had been feuding since March.
His program with Cena. I addressed that in my post. Cena is the most over wrestler in the entire company. Edge wasn't a main event guy until he got the rub from a year long feud with John Cena. Yes, Edge absolutely performed well. But he didn't get over despite feuding with some nobody. He got over because he got a chance to spend a year feuding with the top top top top guy in the entire company.
His programs with Batista and Undertaker --- hmmm, let me check something here --- oh, that's right, the other two most over wrestlers in the entire company. And guess what? Edge had a bunch of SHITTY matches with Batista. Edge had some good matches with Undertaker. Hey, who carried Batista to a bunch of very good matches? Oh, yeah, THE UNDERTAKER.
Edge produces in every match he is in at WrestleMania. Okay, let's break it down.
WrestleMania 2000: The three-way ladder match. Fantastic match. Edge had some good spots. But it was a match with Edge and 5 other guys.
WrestleMania x-Seven: TLC II. Once again, a great match where Edge had some good spots. Once again it was a match with Edge and 5 other guys.
WrestleMania x-8: Edge v. Booker T. Dull match. Definition of average.
WrestleMania 21: Money in the Bank. Very good match. Edge had some good spots. But it was a match with Edge and 5 other guys.
WrestleMania 22: Edge v. Mick Foley. Damn good match. Edge's first true "performance" at WrestleMania. Although he wasn't in there with some scrub. It was a crazy brawl with weapons against the man who made weapons popular in WWE.
WrestleMania 23: Money in the Bank. Good match. Edge had some good spots. It was a match with Edge and 7 other guys.
WrestleMania 24: Edge v. Undertaker. Good match, but not WM Main Event quality. He would go on to have better matches with Undertaker.
So yeah, I'm FAR, FAR, FAR from being "totally off". Edge is good. Edge is very good. I'm beyond happy that he has been given a chance, and I'm really glad that he hasn't been fucked over and is now a true main event guy. I never expected him to get that chance, but he got it, and he's here to stay. However while he is very talented and he's more than good enough to be a main event guy, he is absolutely not amazing. He's not somebody that can carry a company on his shoulders. Heyman is making things up if he thinks Edge has been carrying the company on his back. I guess he forgot about all the other stars WWE has, and I guess he forgot that Edge has been on the B-show for the past few years.
I'm sorry. Edge is very good, but he's not the amazing savior that so many people think he is.

Now that you say that it really does make him look weak and i understand what you are saying. I do like Punk and i hope that he does well and i really hope that he doesnt become a "paper" champion, like RVD was if he held the belt longer or something along those lines. I hope that he can prove the office that he can be a main draw and can hold the ratings because i want him to become a real top guy in the company.
Joey Styles had some good words about Punk also-
Former ECW announcer and WWE.com boss Joey Styles recently blogged about CM Punk:
"I spent the rest of Monday evening hanging out with the new World Heavyweight Champion, clad in his trademark baggy jeans, dirty Cubs cap and worn T-shirt, knowing that this young man will not be affected in any way by his newly earned success. Punk will always be Punk. He's not just a character you see on television. Punk is genuinely that grounded person all day, every day which is why I believe our fans, specifically our younger fans flock to him. Hopefully, his message of drug free hard work will resonate with those youngsters as well. In fact, drug-free hard work is a message that will hopefully resonate with all Americans on Independence Day…and every day."

"the office"? Ewwwww. For some reason, your little attempts at insider lingo irks me.
Anyway, I just went and actually watched the full Raw and not just the part where Punk won and it bothered me even more. I didn't really pick up on it the first few times but Punk rushing the whole process along and trying to hurry it was just fucking lame. Edge got the shit kicked out of him and Punk doesn't think he could still take him even him if he was able to recoup a bit? Lame.
Then the fucking Cena promo was typical Cena bullshit. He goes out of his to put over Punk for being smart to win the title like that. But are we to forget him whining like a little cunt when Edge beat him to win the title in a similar fashion with the first MITB briefcase? So then it was cowardly but now it is smart? Doesn't make sense, John. Then again, that one isn't on Cena since who else can you get Punk over for the hasty way he won the title?
Just fucking bothersome. They better make it up to us over this summer and give Punk his due.

MVP recently did an interview with PNJ.com. The Smackdown superstar discusses his heart condition, the possibility of doing movies, the draft, and much more. You can read the entire interview at http://www.pnj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080704/ENTERTAINMENT/807040311
The Wrestling Observer is reporting that there may be some legitimate heat between Smackdown Divas Natalya and Michelle McCool. The heat apparently stems from McCool trying to "teach" Natalya, who is an 8 year pro, how to correctly do basic ring moves and wrestle the "WWE Style."
We have found some early screen shots of the upcoming Smackdown vs Raw 2009 video game which is due to hit stores this November. You can view the photos at http://ps3obsession.com/ps3images.php?gal=4

Nice double post there PartyRock, even if you corrrrected it later.
I don't know if any of you are watching Smackdown right now, but the opening segment was very enjoyable. Triple H and MVP were vastly entertaining. Hunter's constant references to screwing the boss' daughter to move ahead, and him bringing up his place of marriage to Stephaine (Storyline wise) had me grinning.
Oh and Edge vs Triple Haitch = Spectacular
Edit:
That Women's title is fucking awful. If I took a shit, and it got made into a belt, it would be better looking than that Divas Title.

The opening segment, had me laughing pretty hard with all of Triple H's references. The one line he had about Vicki being a big step up from the other girls Edge has dated was pretty good also. I'm definitely looking foward to Triple H vs Edge, although with the "marriage" supposedly being off, I wonder how old cankles is going to figure into it.
Its funny, that new Divas' belt kind of looks like a glass sex toy.
Natalya looks much hotter with the dyed red hair.
Overall it was a pretty good Smackdown and the show hasn't lost a beat, when it comes to having the better matches.

The Hardy vs Nitro match was good, and so was the Fatal 4 Way. I think JR benifits the most from this. He gets to showcase his talent on Smackdown, where the matches are longer than they are on Raw.
Having said all that
Maniac!Edge might be the best thing Smackdown has to offer. I loved him last night.

Maybe I dont watch enough or maybe I'm missing something, but why is everybody so high on CM Punk? I mean I kinda get the fact that he is something new and very different, but is he really that good? Maybe its the WWE in general that makes every match the same 5 high spots and then the pin for all of there superstars that bugs me the most or the way they push the whole "drug free and hard workin wrestler" Kinda reminds me of "Say your prayers and take your vitamins" Brother.
I'm not saying CM Punk Sucks, but what is the big deal?

Ya know what, if WWE decides to give up on Punk, I don't fear for him. In a few years, ROH will have some kind of TV deal, and eventually Punk will find his way back there. It won't be WWE exposure, but he'll get his shot at being seen as good as he really is by a lot of people.

Agreed, but I would really like to see WWE wise up and realize what they have under contract right now. Giving him the BGB is a good start, but let's see where it leads.

Nah, he'll just be one of the many that they dropped the ball on due to political reasons and pure stupidity.
It took me a bit to "get" Punk myself since I didn't follow ROH during his run there but once I did I went back and watched as much as I could find. I enjoy his different style and the fact that he respects the business as much as he does.
I'm going to rewatch Death before Dishonor 3 at some point this weekend to see him finally take the ROH title. I had thought about him and that match on Monday afternoon as I drove by the venue where it was held and was shocked to hear later on that night that he won the title. While I was disappointed with how it went down I am still happy with the end result of Punk being champ.
I, like most of you, just hope they don't fuck it up completely.

I'm off once again this time for 2 weeks. Once again i am pissed that i am missing Raw since CM Punk is champ and also its a new top guy on Raw which is always nice.
So I'll be back in two weeks, hopefully i can find a computer when I'm at camp because that would be very nice. haha
Also i just bought tickets to the Raw at Mohegan Sun in Connecticut, i have good not great seats.(better then my '06 SummerSlam tickets) and I'm sitting on the camera side of the area so I will be their with either some sort of O&A Sign, Wackbag.com or if anyone has a suggestion i will take that into consideration also haha.
So i will talk to you guys in two weeks and take care.:action-sm
Jon P. (PartyRock24) lol
Also as mentioned before, lets hope that the WWE does not drop the ball with Punk and also lets hope that Raw has a big ratings boost this week because of Punk.
And Commish as much as we all love Punk here, i think it is hard to believe that if the WWE plays their cards right with Punk then he will be considered the greatest of all time. He will be up their maybe but not the greatest. haha

Just to play Devil's Advocate:
If CM Punk was so good, then why didn't TNA lock him up when they had the chance like the did AJ Styles and Samoa Joe?
commish13
07-06-2008, 02:13 AM
Punk was in WWE when TNA got Joe.
Punk was in TNA back in 2003-2004, but when TNA decided to pull all of their talent out of ROH because of the Feinstein incident, Punk decided to leave TNA and stay with ROH. Punk never went back, and stayed with ROH until the summer of 05.
Joe was never in TNA until he signed a contract and went there in the summer of 05. He continued to work for ROH as well as TNA until March of 07, because ROH was going to announce a PPV deal, which once again made TNA pull all of their talent.
Plus, TNA is fucking dumb. But yeah, TNA never had a chance at Punk. He chose ROH over TNA in 2004, and then he got a call from Vince a year later.

Yes I get that fact that RVD ruled in ECW and CM PUNK (I guess) ruled in ROH, but I'm talking about now in the WWE. I watch WWE and see the same guys getting over like HHH, batista, undertaker, Cena(Yuck), edge amoung others, but CM Punk isnt one of those guys I see them going with as the future. I guess this is a refresher just in case you didn't watch any WWE tv last week or the first hour of this program.
Hey WWE, I missed a Raw back in August 1998 can we recap that too while we're at it?

Well, he needs to make sure he takes back his "Raw's Biggest Dork" title from CM Punk after Chillax-Gate 2008.
He already did when he said "math-lete"

Mathlete is justifiable since its an actual term used. Chillax is just, uh, gay.

It fits his persona well, and having Three 6 Mafia do your theme doeesn't hurt either.

Well, the number one contender is a bigger match.
I just think it was ridiculous that they couldn't have given Punk someone better. Rey got to beat Santino.
I guess they wanted to show that Punk can handle "big guys".

I'm not bothered by it. First of all, the #1 Contender's match is more important than a non-title match, and second Snitsky has as much star power as Funaki, at this point
Edit:
Steam got to part of it before me

Would've been great if some disgruntled, or just plain stupid, editor pulled the wrong footage and they cut to Katrina footage.
Or if, when they cut to live camera, there was a bunch of schwoogies beating the shit out of a white guy and ****** his woman....

I'm still having a hard time dealing with the fact that there are more than 4 PPVs a year.
I'm still shocked that there aren't 4 PPVs a month
Great. Looks like Santino gets to go back to being a jobber. It saddens me that he'll probably never move beyond that. He's pretty good in the ring and great on mic. I'd much rather listen to 3 hours of his broken-english promos than 5 minutes of Cena
So are Kelly Kelly and the spic going to feud over who becomes the Playboy whore?I hope so...I want it to be Layla, but they don't give it to heels. Kelly Kelly would be hot...I'd like to see her vagina
Mark Henry's song just might be one of the best in WWE right now.It truly is...and Ted DiBiase Jr.'s is just fuckin awful
I'm still pissed Michaels didn't bleed, after that spot with the Jerichotron. They go out of their way not to bleed now...it sucks. "We want more kids to watch!! No blood!!" Fuck off
EDIT: as far as this clusterfuck of an opening promo is going...I do like that Cena & Batista congratulated Punk on winning the title

I don't think that Jericho/Michaels should ever end. They are too fucking perfect at their roles in it.
Cena should have been by the monitor and taking notes once again on Jericho's delivery and how crucial it is.
