I went out and bought a couple of new movies this afternoon. 1 plays fine and the other comes up as a data disc. Has anyone else ever run into this problem? could it just be the disc? If I return it and get the same movie will it happen again?

might be a new movie and has some newer type of copy protection that sony has not put in it's code yet. return it, try the new one. what is there to loose.

Im running the up to date firmware... The movie did come out recently so maybe sony hasn't released a code yet for it..I'll return it tomorrow and see if its just the disc but I doubt it...

Was it a 2 disc set?

If so, the second disc is a DVD data disc that holds the digital copy for your computer, iPod, etc. Sounds like you put the wrong disc in the player.

When I saw the title of the thread, I just figured your potato-like fingers were having trouble performing complex tasks again... Like pressing a button.
Glad to know that wasn't the case, homo. :)
