Cult comic Elfquest is set to get the big screen treatment, with Dodgeball helmer Rawson Thurber in the director's chair.

Created 30 years ago by Wendy and Richard Pini, Elfquest revolves around the Wolfriders, a tribe of elves struggling to survive on a two-mooned planet called Abode while coming into conflict with rival tribes of trolls and humans.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Thurber will write, produce and direct the project.

We hope this scene from Elfquest makes into the finished film.

As yet there's no word on whether the film will be live action or animation.

Um... I'd assume if a live action director is doing it, it will be a live action film. Though nowadays everyone seems to think they can do animation.

There was supposed to be an EQ movie when I was in middle school. That was 1985. I'm not counting on it.

It would be pretty bad ass, though, if they did it right. Especially if they kept a lot of the sex and violence in it. I'd go animated (CGI, prob).
