Showtime is turning to comic books for another new series, and its turning to one of their original series to head up the project. Dexter producer Sara Colleton will oversee the adaptation of the Vertigo comic series The Exterminators to the cable network. Created by Simon Oliver and Tony Moore, the series has been referred to as "Six Feet Under in the world of pest control."
Ironically, The Exterminators began as a pitch for a TV series, but Oliver decided it wasn't exactly network-friendly. The series lasted 30 issues at Vertigo, but upon its cancellation it is now heading to Showtime for a renewed life.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the show focuses on the "Bug-B-Gone" crew and centers on "an ex-con who joins an exterminator company, working with a freakish supporting cast of characters. A mystery surrounding his girlfriend and the manufacturer of an insect poison percolates on the periphery, and the insects are much more dangerous than they seem."
