Sadly for Deadwood fans (myself included) HBO made it clear today that there is almost no possibility of ever seeing the once-promised TV movies that were intended to wrap up the storyline from the acclaimed series.

HBO's Richard Plepler noted that following Deadwood ending, series creator David Milch had moved quickly onto the short-lived HBO series John From Cincinnati and now is at work at a new HBO series, Last of the Ninth. Said Plepler, "that's really where he's put his energies. I think it's safe to report to you that the likelihood of the Deadwood movies happening is slim to none."

We think we know what Al has to say about the Deadwood movies not happening. Hint, it starts with a "C."

Asked if a script was ever completed for one of the movies, HBO's Michael Lombardo said, "We had never even gotten that far in terms of the process. It was really more of a discussion stage and it's never gone beyond that." He added that as time has gone on, the logistics have become incredibly difficult, with several of the Deadwood stars now series regulars on other shows. Summing up, Lombardo said of the Deadwood movies, "It did not really come together and coalesce."

Gonna miss Al and Sheriff Bullock. Such an amazing show, shame they're not gonna finish it, they should have forgotten about that bust of a show, John from Cincinnati, and finished Deadwood, although I did enjoy John from Cincinnati, slightly.

This was the first I heard that this would be Deadwood's last season. I did some searching to confirm if this is true, and sure enough, it seems like this will indeed be the last season for Deadwood.

Now... I was about to get all piseed off and go on a puppy kicking rampage, until I read a little further and found out that Deadwood's director, David Milch, is shifting his attention to "John From Cincinnati, a surfing-themed drama." Oh, well then. In that case, I feel much better. A surfing drama? Hey... how can that possibly miss? Sounds fabulous. I'm sure it will be MUCH, MUCH better than Deadwood. A surfing drama? C'mon... that sounds like pure gold.

FUUUUUCK!

I fucking hate Hollywood! No... what I do is I haaaaaaate Hollywood! Scrap Deadwood for a fucking surfing drama? I hope that the knitters go on a rampage this summer and Reginald Denny every single Jew director and producer in that entire town. FUCK! FUCK! FUCK!

Somebody bring me a puppy... NOW!

I loved Deadwood, but John from Cincinatti was great as well. So many quotable things such as "Dumping out", "Mitch Yost should get back in the game", and "I got my eye on you!"

Boo for canceling both!

They should get the director and cast talking to Rockstar games... I for one would pay a lot of money for a decent Deadwood/GTA style game.

Just sayin'.... To me DW was one of those shows where the cast seemed like old friends as opposed to just actors on a TV show. I could watch it over and over.

Unfortunately this is typical of HBO. This would be why Showtime has surpassed them with good original content.

No surprise here although Im still pissed about it. I wasnt exactly holding out hope but Im glad that theyve pretty much told us that they arent happening at this point.

Ah, well, at least the suits at HBO were smart enough to greenlight another pilot from David Simon and Co.

From the very start, when they first announced the Deadwood movies, it was plain to see that enthusiasm for this project was zero and it was never going to happen. If the head guy had moved on to another project, who was going to put it together?
