I used to work w/a guy from Buenos Aires Argentina who played soccer since he was a toddler and could do some totally crazy shit w/a ball, it was like a friggin religion to them. He used to tell us that was really the only sport they had, no basketball, football (US), hockey, etc. just soccer.

For the entire rest of the world soccer is pretty much a religion, it's only the US that doesn't promote it much. I think that's as much to do with TV and advertising revenue as anything else. I'd watch it over Nascar and Basketball... two TV sports that are so full of interruptions as to be unwatchable for me.

We had a guy in our school from South America back in the 70's-80's, that was one of the first in the area to (sorry, don't follow football-soccer) throw in the ball by running with the ball in both hands, land on it doing a front flip and throw it about twice as far as a normal throw in. I don't care about soccer but I was impressed.
