I figured this was tangental enough to Heller to get its own thread. Apparently DC has decided "pursuant" to Heller they'll ban semi-autos and mandate trigger locks... even though Both were decided to be Constitutionally protected by the 2nd Amendment.

Meanwhile the US media is ignoring a flagrant and clear violation of the Constitution. Fucking assholes! If the USSC lets this stand I say fuck it, let's start ignoring all their rulings.

Got links? I trust you, but I still want to read for myself.

The ruling said any common gun used for defensive purposes, such as semi-autos, shall be allowed and laws mandating them to be kept in an unfireable state are unconstitutional.

It'd be like if Louisiana took their kiddie rapers and instead of "executing" them. Just gave them tranquilizers until they fell "asleep" forever.

As my coworker said to me today on our smoke break: D.C.'s really just begging for another lawsuit at this point.

Jesus fucking christ.
Yeah, there will be a lawsuit coming over it, but how long will it take to get this horseshit law struck down? The people running DC are clueless..
Edit:
On top of that, how damned close is this to fucking Facism? Requiring fingerprints, photographing, an EYE EXAM, a WRITTEN fucking test all to register a god damned gun?

The fucked up thing is they're breaking the law with a smile. They're saying that they're following the law while blatantly breaking it. It's like ****** a chick and the entire time telling her how you respect her desire not to have sex which is why you're not proceeding with sexual relations.

It's infuriatingly assholish.

The DC Council is asking far to uppity. They are just stalling as long as possible, then they will make it impossible for the regular joe's to own a firearm.

I would not be surprised if they have some sort of outrageous license and paperwork 'processing fee'. They may try to price out the majority of people, who don't want to pay up. Is their anything in the SC ruling that establishes reasonable paperwork and fee's?

Just pressure your local congressman to kill this.

Because he/she CAN. D.C.'s going to pass emergency legislation for this to go into place, but remember, technically, they're still under the authority of Congress, so if Congress wants to put a stop to whatever horseshit the Council comes up with (with regards to "complying" with Heller), it can have an effect.

Fuck em, carry around bolt-action .308 pistols and .50 Hawken muzzle loading trappers.

And thus it continues-

The people running DC are clueless..

On the contrary. They know exactly what they're doing and that they will get away with it. Liberals don't need to follow the law, and when they break it they don't get in trouble. Period.

Anything bottom-loading is classified as a machine-gun?

Jesus. Get this back in front of a bench as fast as possible. The douchebags running DC have got to be stopped. What is almost as sickening is one comment by some assclown on that news report.
Considering the Bush administration has violated many citizen's 6th amendment right with Warrentless Searches why shouldn't DC be allowed to put in place very tight laws regarding which guns it's citizens can maintain in order not to violate their 4th amendment rights?

DC isn't banning all fire arms and I think that with the stats that have shown that guns in homes are more often used against members of the family or friends then intruders and the fact that many of these guns will end up stolen and used for crimes that this will actually INCREASE the stats of gun violence not decrease it.

Personally I'm glad to see DC put a very tight leash on what guns people can own.

Yeah, taking guns from citizens in a city full of armed criminals will keep criminals out...right...
Keep drinking that kool-aid, douchebag.

I'm a D.C. local, so this doesn't surprise me, I expected them to try and pull some shit to make sure that firearms are still effectively banned in D.C., but Jesus, I didn't expect them to be this blatant and ham-fistedly retarded about the way they did it.

It's very disconcerting. They've practically just begged for the Supreme Court to smack the taste out of their mouth over this.

Or maybe they're just being optimistic and hoping for an Obama win, so that the next time this comes before the Court, we may have a different political demographic on the bench, if you get my drift.
