Twins with different skin colors — one black and the other white — have been born in Berlin, Germany.

Doctors say it is an extremely rare occurrence, but it is possible if genes combine in a certain way.

The twin boys, named Ryan and Leo, are the offspring of a mixed-race couple.

The mother, Florence, hails from Ghana in western Africa, and dad, Stephan, is from Potsdam in Germany.

"Ryan came first, and everything was as usual," said the hospital's doctor, Birgit Weber. "But when Leo was born, I couldn't believe my eyes."

"Both kids have definitely the same father," the doctor added.

Professor VMS: It's actually happened a few times with white mothers who are complete whores/cheat on their husbands. If they've got a load in them from a white dude and a load in them from a black dude, AND the woman double-drops a pair of eggs (the same way you get fraternal twins), AND one gets fertilized by the black dude's load and one gets fertilized by the white dude's load... You end up with a white mom with a black (or half-black, which is black to most people) baby and a white baby.

One of those freaky things that happens now and then. There was a cover for "Bizzarre" magazine about 10 years ago that had a pair of fraternal twin sisters on the cover who were the result of something like that.
