He knows that Fedor is arguably the best fighter ever. He knows that Fedor is fighting this weekend, but he never bothered to find out who Fedor is fighting? I find that hard to believe.
Any half-ass fan knows that the UFC quickly threw together an event, and put it on Spike for free, because even people who know little about the sport want to see Fedor fight, and many of them will probably pay for the Affliction event because nearly every fight has a top 10 fighter (and a few of the fighters are former UFC champs). I admit that the UFC has the best fighters right now compared to other organizations, but this event still easily beats almost any UFC event ever. Any fan has to be aware of this. Sylvia and Arlovski both held the heavyweight belt in the UFC recently, and they're both on this card. Vitor and Barnett both beat Randy, which definitely says something about their skill. Nog is just a 205 lb version of his twin brother (who is currently the UFC heavyweight champ). These are guys that could easily walk into the UFC and take the belt in their weight class, and I find it hard to believe that even casual fans aren't aware of this event. It is huge.

By "yet again" I'm talking about the last time Dana was on the radio show for the interview. The Fedor/Sylvia fight was already announced, and it was obvious that time as well that nobody was mentioning who Fedor was fighting, probably because they knew they would be rewarded for doing so. This is a huge fight. To not mention the fighter who just held the UFC heavyweight title less than a year ago, and get invited to come to UFC events for free any time, is quite a coincidence.

Maybe a little bitter towards the UFC because, like many people, I loved Pride FC in Japan a lot more than the UFC (I prefer the ring, I prefer the knees on the ground, I prefer the rules that allow kicking an opponent to the head when he's on the ground, just the rules in general). When Pride FC failed, I was disappointed. So I'm very happy to see an event that surpasses the UFC, because a lot of amazing fighters aren't signed to the UFC.

back to the other point, I'm not sure about all these HUGE events that far surpass the UFC. The UFC still has the exposure on Spike, with the reality show and all. The network stuff so far hasn't really set the world on fire, at least as far as I can tell. UFC might not be the biggest, but the sport seems to be known as "Ultimate Fighting" in the general public, even know the knowledgeable fans realize this is just one brand of it.

I didn't realize he read the forums. I'm curious if he actually knows who Sylvia is. You would think that if he's heard of Gonzaga, Cro Cop, and Fedor, he would know who the most recent heavyweight champ in the UFC was.

Maybe. But he has been the UFC champ for a while (before losing to Randy and Big Nog). He's a boring fighter and other posters on mma forums don't generally like him despite his list of KO victories. Maybe I overestimate Jimmy's knowledge of the sport, but most mma fans would clearly see something odd about mentioning "Fedor's opponent" but not naming him, when you're talking to the UFC president and "Fedor's opponent" just recently lost the UFC heavyweight belt.

I'm actually a big enough fan that I post a lot on Sherdog's MMA forum, and some people on that forum actually suggested that his friendship with Rogan could be the reason why everyone on the radio show would pretend to know nothing about other organizations even when they were holding HUGE events that far surpassed any UFC events. It's definitely possible, and I didn't think of that but you are probably right.

For a man that is great about getting his plugs in AND other peoples plugs in i found that very odd. At the same time u were talking about the competions card that was on the same night as the UFC event and it was not mentioned?

And to accuditor i dont know why u have this hate for the UFC. Unless u have some financial stake in Affliction i find it odd and ignorant. MMA is a great and growing sport. For sure w out the UFC stepping up a few years back no one would even know what MMA is. UFC is not afraid of any other company they have averaged 400k + in pay per views buys recently (50$ a pop ) so i dont think they are worried about Affliction.
As an MMA fan i welcome other promotions. It benifits the fighters and will grow the sport if its done right (see Kimbo on how to do it wrong). Stop hating the UFC its stupid POV to take.
