i think it's worth mentioning *only for the sake of anyone missed it*, that somehow, this other thread digressed into a MMA argument. http://wackbag.com/showthread.php?t=93903 that said, keep the MMA talk here. apparently people have some rather strong opinions about this fight.

So if it's not a Mexican Mexican, it's okay that they don't know English yet? I mean, a spic is a spic, right? And Brazilians (even black Brazilians) are as spic as Guatemalans and Nicaraguans, right?

Its crap like that that makes it hard for me to get into this. That guy clearly got poked in the eye and he loses the fight because of it.
The Knockout kick in the last fight was sick. That guy was taking an ass whopping just seconds before and dropped him like a stone

reffing is tough, no doubt. but its amazing how badly they can fuck up such an obvious one like this. same thing happened in boxing a couple weeks ago in an important undercard fight. 2 profoundly incompetent decisions.

You really are as mindless as a bull with a cape waved in front of it on this topic, aren't you?
"No brazilians aren't pieces of shit"? Dude, do you think they invented a BRUTAL martial art like Brazilian Ju Jitsu because they're a bunch of civilized, abstemious people? You think Jimmy and Patrice went down there to bang hookers because it's a country full of well-educated, upwardly mobile individuals? It's a fucking 3rd world shithole, outside of very small islands of incredibly wealthy (relatively speaking) people. Kind of like, you know, the rest of Latin America.
You don't hate Silva because he's a guy with skills you like. Which is fine. For you, politics is purely PERSONAL. Your thinking of political topics begins and ends with what effects you. Which doesn't make you any worse than most other voters, of either political stripe.
Not to go all Dr. Phil, here, but it's pretty clear you get as pissed off about this with me because you know you're factually wrong and being a jackass, but you just can't get yourself to admit it.
That's it for highjacking an MMA thread for politics. I'll just leave it at that.

Who gives a shit? Honestly, you're continually trying to play the "I'm the only educated motherfucker around here" role. You're opinion is as worthless as everyone else's around here. No one gave a shit that you went to France or Canada and quite honestly, you should have stayed. But hey, that's my opinion and it's as worthless as yours.
As far as my opinions on Brazilians...their women are some of the most beautiful in the world and the men are some of the most arrogant, self-indulged that I've ever met. Reminds me of you here VMS...sure you're not Brazilian?

He wasn't saying that all Brazilians are great people. I think the message was that Anderson Silva is here legally, is learning English, and is a productive member of society unlike all the illegals who expect everyone to cater to them. It wasn't a fucking political statement.

No you stupid chink you totally missed the point as usual. I've met a lot of brazilians in the good ol usa and they were all great people, all spoke english and smelled lovely. now i've met a lot of mexicans so just reverse everything i just said about brazilians. and oh wait again they're here legally. I'll admit to being a jackass but I'm not factually wrong as usual your talking about something you've read and i'm speaking from experience. so take your degree flush it down the toilet and go fuck your mother. all that knowledge and a lil pecker that must suck...and also tell your sister that next time she needs to use more lube.

Ref missed the final poke to the eye so he thought that the uppercut rocked him. You would've thought he would've changed his mind after the replay as it was really friggen obvious.
Kick to the face was an awesome KO.

That's the problem. I don't think the ref is allowed to change his mind after the decision is made. He stopped the fight because he thought Johnson got hit with the uppercut and called the fight on a tko, but then it became clear it was obviously an eye poke and they can't take the decision back due to the rules. If I remember correctly the ref was standing on the opposite side of the poke, so he couldn't see it.
And I don't know what the fuck VMS is talking about with Silva. He's a very intelligent guy, he lives in Brazil, and he's learning English as a courtesy to his fans. And how does inventing an incredibly smart and effective form of hand to hand combat make a country uncivilized? The U.S. has its own brands of martial arts, though since we were late to the game it's mostly military specific, and we even invented guerrilla warfare. Not to mention most of the important technology for killing other humans. I don't see how you can use such an argument to say Brazil is uncivilized and not conclude that we're far worse.

Or when he went "AHHHHHH" and jumped on the ground. No one takes a punch like that, although it would be hilarious.

Because he obviously just doesnt like Capt. and thought he would have a chance to call him out on some hypocrisy. He has no fucking clue what he's talking about or who Anderson Silva is. He probably felt like arguing his bullshit politics, saw a post by someone he generally disagrees with and in an effort to make Cap look stupid, he made himself look the ass, by calling Jits a "BRUTAL" martial art, without bothering to learn ANYTHING about BJJ, since it's essence is not brutal in the least, its all about using leverage, position and form to gain a dominant spot and then work for a sub. It's not nearly as brutal as the american form of combat. Dropping bombs from 10,000 feet.
And when you are the best pound for pound fighter in the world, you can speak whatever the fuck language you want.

UFC Fight Night 14 peaks with 3.8 million viewers
This past Saturday's UFC Fight Night 14 event, which featured a rare appearance by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva on free basic cable television, scored a 2.1 rating and an average of 3.1 million viewers.
The night's main event, which featured Silva's light-heavyweight debut and a first-round TKO of James Irvin, drew a peak audience of 3.8 million viewers.
Spike TV today announced the ratings for the event, which took place at The Palms Las Vegas.
According to near-official figures, Saturday's three-hour Spike TV broadcast outdrew every other channel -- both network television and cable stations -- with men ages 18-34 (903,000), men 18-49 (1,550,000), men 25-34 (622,000), and persons 18-34 (1,326,000).
Saturday's event, a late booking put together to counter Affliction Entertainment's debut event, also featured notables such as Brandon Vera, Hermes Franca, Frankie Edgar, Anthony Johnson and C.B. Dollaway.
As MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) previously reported, the two highest-rated events in UFC-Spike TV history are UFC 75 and UFC Final Chapter: Ortiz vs. Shamrock III. Each event peaked with approximately 5.9 million viewers.
The highest-rated MMA event on U.S. television -- including network and cable TV -- was the May 31 "EliteXC: PRIMETIME" event on CBS. The nation's first-ever live MMA event on U.S. network TV peaked with more than 6.5 million viewers.

NSAC: UFC's James Irvin tests positive for methadone and oxymorphone
UFC Fight Night 14 headliner James Irvin, who suffered a first-round TKO to Anderson Silva in the July 19 fight, tested positive for methadone and oxymorphone, according to a urinalysis conducted by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
NSAC Executive Director Keith Kizer today confirmed the test results in an email sent to MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Irvin has 20 days to request a formal hearing. If the ruling is upheld, he would then face a likely suspension of six to 12 months and a fine of up to $20,000 -- his full fight purse for the event.
Methadone is a synthetic opioid usually used in treatment of opioid dependence for drugs such as heroin, though it can also be prescribed as a painkiller. Oxymorphone is a semi-synthetic opioid analgesic (painkiller) often used for the relief of moderate to severe pain. The NSAC has approved neither prescription drug for usage by MMA competitors.
Silva and 10 other UFC Fight Night 14 fighters voluntarily submitted to a urinalysis during the event. All but Irvin tested clean.
UFC Fight Night 14, a late event booking that countered Affliction's debut pay-per-view event, took place at The Palms Las Vegas and aired on Spike TV. Irvin headlined a UFC event for the first time, and his fight with Silva peaked with a remarkable 4.5 million viewers.

Is he a junkie? Or did he think that heroin and its lesser versions were just good training aids? Maybe he figured Silva never fought anyone who was going through dope shakes and that would help his chances.
