Opie and Jim, you were totally right in your instincts to go after Phillipe. He's a pompous art faggot that has had his ass kissed for decades for a skill. It's not art, it's a skill (I'll be it impressive).

But with awful lines like, "I don't believe in God, but he believes in me" in reference to being lucky he doesn't plummit to his death. For that attitude alone, Phillipe deserved the Ramoning of a lifetime.

Just a suggestion, because if you think a guest has a certin attitude, know that there are a lot of listeners that pick up on it, too.

Phillipe Petit is an ass...

He came off very stereotypical as a rude Frenchman.

You could always make an animated version where he does get slammed. Perhaps take audio from later in the show and interlace it with the interview?

Wow, and I thought I was being nice by holding that one back.

I was serious about the animation though, I think it would be funny.

My favorite part of the show is when they attack guests. That feeling that something horrible is happening live and you're experiencing it as it unfolds, shifting in your seat because you just feel uncomfortable, it's fantastic.

They should have fuckin destroyed that guy. What a smarmy bastard, i couldnt stand him with his shitty attitude. He disgusted me, i wished they smashed him, and i hope they do it in the future to any guest.

Gene Simmons should have been smashed from the get go for telling them how their interview would be done couple weeks ago.

Now this French pig is on being pompous and arrogant to host's that are giving him nothing but credit and kissing his ass?

WTF are they afraid of? Why bash a guy when he leaves do it to his face it's much funnier for the audience. Also it show you have a pair.

Never getting a guest again? They can't ALL be One-Man-Star-Wars guy or Corey from Loose Change. Who knows what good guest they'll get for having this crushing bore on the show?

Part of the problem was the frog was so practiced at being an asshole, Jimmy didn't even realize it til later. Then it was too late.

Seems like they only get fresh when a 911 conspiracy theorist is on they seemed to have no problem calling out a former Navy Seal trained killer in Ventura but some makeup wearing shit rockstar and French man hugging fag they get all quite and bashfull?

I don't get the mentality there?

Look, I'm aware there are some PR's can handle ALOT of people, but are you saying if they slam some french sissy or some other Q-list celebrity, then there might be repercussions that's worth playing it safe?

That being said, if Ant was there, he might of subtly bashed the queer whispering into the mic to get something started. I think being fans of the guy, Jim and Op weren't as quick to start trouble.

Ventura is not a Seal, he was EOD.Ok so instead of swimming up to their house and carving them up hand to hand he would just have to wire their car or front door with c4.

They need to beat people down more especially arrogant frenchies.

They spent 3 segments talking about him, plus other whole segments of the show in the past talking about him... they were obsessed with him, especially L'il Jimmy. They were blinded by the image they built up in their heads. Thankfully, they were enlightened by the end of the XM show.

Anyone else notice Nick DiPaolo wasn't having any of him right off the bat? He said something along the lines of "Still like him, Jim?" after a particularly snide remark by Petit.

Agree. But when was the last time they did it? Was it the guy who made toothpick art a while back?

The "smile and nod" act with Gene Simmons made me ill.

He's not the popsicle stick artist. They went out of their way to get this guy. Opie sorta went after him but Jimmy defended him because Jimmy really admires him. I see NOTHING wrong with the interview today, nor telling ONA how to do their jobs.

I see NOTHING wrong with the interview today, nor telling ONA how to do their jobs.If you listen to the whole show, you'll hear that Op and Jim had the urge to go after this guy, but held back and regretted that they didn't attack. This is where I suggest going old school and follow their urge to attack the guest.

And this is all a suggestion of my opinion. I'd never dare tell Op or Jim how to do their job.

Eh, I can see why they didn't. He was a bit annoying but he wasn't that bad. You can't be too surprised that a guy like that is a tad eccentric. I never felt bored or particularly annoyed during the interview except when he dodged the hypothetical, which I was actually interested in and thought was a good question.

If Philipe Frenchy deserved to get a bashing from the boys then Gene Simmons should have been stabbed in the throat repeatedly with some sort of sharp object.

I think the poster that mentioned anthonys absence nailed it.
Ultimately, the reason a lot of the bashing works in a lot of cases, is that they do the good cop-bad cop thing, with anthony almost always playing the good cop.

Anthonys general likeablity makes him seem somewhat sincere when he goes "Opie! thats not nice... sorry *guest* what I really want to know is...". This keeps the guest engaged so opie (and jimmy) can keep it going for awhile. WIthout good cop there, this guy would have probably walked out of the studio at the first jab directed at him- making for a fun, but short bit.
