Cult Rocker Wesley Willis Dead at 40
Wesley Willis, a Chicago street performer who achieved cult status by playing a keyboard and ranting about trivial daily events, passed away on August 21 at the age of 40. According to the Web site of his current record label, Alternative Tentacles, Willis had Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia and had to undergo surgery in June to suppress internal bleeding. It’s not clear if the bleeding was related to the leukemia and an exact cause of death has not yet been identified, according to the label. Though Willis started out in the early ’90s by taking his Punk Rock attitude to the streets, he signed a major label deal with American Records in 1996. Rick Rubin produced several albums for him but they achieved cult status rather than commercial success. Willis cranked out over 50 albums throughout his career, three of which are on Alternative Tentacles. The label was planning to release his latest effort, Wesley Willis Greatest Hits Vol. 3, in October.

I know that the boys would play one of his songs a day for a little bit, and they were scheduling him for an appearance on the show but he was vacationing.
Sorry for the repeat...

his unrelenting drive to succeed and overcome his horrifically poor background, child abuse, racism, chronic schizophrenia and obesity, among other things.
Gawd Damn! I thought I had it bad because I can't find a place to live.
