Anderson Silva’s manager, Ed Soares, was recently a guest on ProMMA Radio and had the following to say regarding a dream fight against Georges St. Pierre:

“That’s sound great, I think GSP is an incredible fighter. But I think GSP needs to prove himself. He still hasn’t had a successful title defense (at 170 lbs.). I don’t really feel that he deserves (a Silva fight) yet. Go defend your title a few times and then we’ll talk.”

I think GSP is incredible, but he obviously has is off days...don't forget that he lost to Serra.

What, are they going to have GSP move up to 185? I'd love to see the fight, but I think Soares has a point. Before he considers Silva, he should probably at least defend his title once...which I think he has a good chance of doing against Fitch

I agree 100% GSP needs to defend the WW title at least 3 times before there is any talk of him moving up. GSP is not a dominant fighter at all the fact that he got caught by Serra proves that

G.S.P. is really good at times and really bad at times. I would love to see silva stay at 205 and compete in that division.
Who wouldnt love to see silva take on liddel, forrest, or wanderli silva?
I think the spider has the best chance to become the first person in the UFC to hold two championships in two weight classes at the same time

Having one fighter holding 2 belts would be a disaster. If Silva did win the LHW title and had the MW title both of the divisions would suffer because the title would maybe get defended once a year which would mean a fight every 6 months. Once 1 fight was over they would have to start training for their next fight and that is assuming no injuries. Titles are defended every 9 months or so now.

I never said that would be a good thing. Im just saying that he has the best chance of doing what nobody in the UFC has done before. I also think silva would have better fights at 205 than at 185

Exactly, both are dominant fighters but Silva doesn't seem to have those off days. Anderson definitely has the mental edge in this one and I think he would crush GSP like he has everyone else since he came to the UFC.

gsp has to beat fitch and alvez then we'll talk about this. silva has okami? I think silva needs to move up to 205 to face any real comp

I'd like to see them bring Filho over from the WEC but I doubt that will happen

ufc owns wec after okami there really isn't anyone at 185. I wouldn't doubt it.

Rumor is, if GSP wins against Fitch, we'll a GSP / BJ Penn fight in December, which I agree with the rest of this thread, GSP is not ready for Silva, and a fight against Penn would be the fight I'd want to watch rather than GSP get his ass handed to him by the Spider. He's looked great his last couple of fights, but we can't call him consistent as of yet.
