They are off the www.wedg.com site. I have sent them a comment in our contact us link.

Here is what I wrote:
I am responding to your decision to remove the Opie and Anthony show. I know the issue was not because of ratings. O&A have a great following in Buffalo, WNY, and Ontario and now they are gone. I have been an XM subscriber for almost 4 years and when they came on WEDG I made sure when I was listening to 103.3 in the morning to support your station and sponsors. So I and many other fans of the show now will list who your sponsors are and make sure we ban buying there products. This Nazi like attitude of telling people what they need to hear and content control is going on across the country and it needs to come to a stop. iPods and satellite sales just went up in Buffalo.

The noose just got a little tighter for terrestrial radio. Your industry does not understand they dying to the many alternatives available because of too much content control. You need to hire lawyers that will fight for you not help lose listeners and sponsors.

This sucks, the bbboys are almost off terrestrial and apparently someone has been writing to inform Howard and Mel each and every time ona say anything to rip those two or other Sirius hosts, doubt if they will be on Sirius when the buyout goes through...

I feel for ya brotherman.
When they were dropped in Pittsburgh over a year ago I was pissed, sad, disappointed and hurt all at once.
Understandably so, Pittsburgh has never been a hotbed of O&A excitement but it was a refreshing alternative to the other morning shows. The market is not very big (compare d to NYC, LA, etc) and it is one of these towns where unless you are the exclusive station covering the Pens, Pirates or Steelers in the morning, then you have very little chance of gaining listeners.
Also the whole station flipped formats so all of the talk talent was dropped... So I imagined it was nothing personal involving the bbboys.

(did I even have a point to make???)

The XM/Siriius deal worries me a great deal more. It sounds like the boys will have a home on FM just based on their success alone in NYC and Boston so it is not like they will be out of a job. If the XM gig is not renewed, no more FM simulcast from 6-9 nationwide or replays in th afternoon and weekend which will really blow.

I wouldnt be so disgusted about the edge dropping ona if they had at least told us the truth,to blow smoke up our asses and tell us the listeners had chosen this is absurd.Like I told them in my email ,the reason that shredd and ragan are popular is BECAUSE they dont play music. With music they are just another hacky afternoon drive show. The music that the edge started playing is crap that I stopped listening to 10yrs ago.Buffalo already has a classic rock station, that one sucks too!

With ona's xm future in question, and my sub almost up,whats a pest to do.My inno took a dump on me this past wk,cant listen online at work,I guess its the replay for me.good thing my ipod is loaded up with ona stuff or the day would be completely ruined

A. The Edge sucks balls. NO ONE removes a show if it's doing well. No one. Def a big lie. Like listeners called up and said- remove ONA... I wanna hear Rage Against the Machine, Chili Peppers and Metallica even more than you already overplay them. Fuck them.

B. On the other hand, I say good- the boys got too comfortable with all that money and quite frankly I couldn't stand listening to them once they did the deal to go back to FM. Not to mention after listening to them tear down the "5th wall" on FM... only to go back to it lacked integrity (which the show had been about up to that point). On FM, the shows became weak and no better than the other morning shows they ragged on.

Hopefully getting booted off FM will let them go back to being natural instead of having to abide by FM formula. The original XM shows were addictive... although I can't fault them for going after the dough (as much as I don't like the newer shows).

I understand my opinion won't be popular (I am on an ONA forum afterall), but it's just what I think.

I actually was amoung the chorus of fans who hated the FM move the first year or so. Now, I think it is the best portion of the show on many days. Granted some of the censorship shit on what they can or cannot say is absolutely inexcusable and the commercial load, while not good, is not bad either when half the commercial time is spent with an XM clip. However, it is a much more focused show those first three hours with topics and guests. And bottomline is that funny is always going to be funny. They are all funny people no matter what restrictions or frredoms they have. Jimmy is hilarious when he is working clean just as much as when he has no restrictions. Alot of times he can be funnier when he does not have the verbal crutches of dropping fucks and cunts in every rant.

People tend to view the XM-only era with the same rose-colored glasses as those of us who have followed them from NEW. While they had some absolutely amazing shows, they also had shows when there was no direction to it and they would just fill time with nonsense. Even now with their being so much uncertainty with their future at XM, there have plenty of shows where they don;t do anything when they come to the XM side except try to get some things out of the audience that show, get some gross-out shit with Patti or the staff, or just hope something comes up to fill the time between 9:20 and 10:50. It is still more times than not entertaining, but on the whole, I think they bring more during the FM side now.

i posted the letter i got from the edge(as a member of the cyberclub) in another thread.evil jim said this was because the listeners demanded it.the year of you008. they were untruthful(opiespeak)about the reason why ona were taken off air, hence the blow smoke up our asses crack. If the edge had just said that this was a shitadel decision,It wouldnt be so infuriating.I personally dont like to be lied to or patronized..hope your gonna be happy listening to some hacky douche morning show.I for one am done with 103.3

If the ratings were high in Buffalo it would seem that the company has made a really horrible decision dumping the boys. Hopefully when they see that the ratings in NYC and Boston and hopefully Cleveland are very high with the new Arbitron method for determining ratings they will make the smart decision and bring the boys back with a better contract.

Smackdown had good ratings on CW & they weren't renewed because advertisers that were buying other shows did not want to buy WWE & there was very little crossover between WWE & other CW shows.
Seems like it might be a similar situation

I agree with pretty much everything you said here. I didn't listen on NEW, but from the bits I've heard in "worst of", what they do now is way better. I think the main problem, to be honest, is the complete lack of show prep, which is kind of what the other guy was saying. I know it's become a sort of running joke that they make everything up on the fly, but even if it's not completely organic, some of the written impressions Ant did on NEW were great.

I don't think they should script out the entire show or anything like that, but if, for example, you have a hypnotist booked, think of some things you could do with the staff if the whole Patty admitting childhood memories thing doesn't work out.

That's cool man. I get that a lot of people like to cling to certain "era's" because they don't like change. The only reason I look back at the XM-only era as my favorite is because the show had a certain feel to it. It was like hanging out at a bar with friends. There was an honesty with the shows because there were no restraints. Obviously, going back to FM changed everything from content to the flow of the show.

Not that I had to- but I just wanted to reply with the reason I feel the way I do. I don't disagree with you that even the XM side has become a shell of it's former self.

But- the boys will get passed this. They know what they're doing, and I am sure in end it'll all even out.

As a valued Edge Cyberclub member, I wanted to write you directly about the change we've made in mornings at Rock Radio 103.3 The Edge. As of 9am this morning, The Edge will no longer carry The Opie and Anthony Show. There are many reasons for this decision and I will share some of them with you. We have been very serious in our "You-Thousand Eight" initiative. Much of our music, contests, weekend themes and other programming have been driven by you. As part of this plan, we've been overwhelmed by two major factors. First, we are bombarded with calls and emails asking us to be 'more local' in the morning. Even hardcore fans of O&A have expressed those sentiments. The other concern shared by many of you is that since O&A and Shredd & Ragan don't play music, The Edge hasn't felt like the 'rock station' that it used to be. First of all, everyone here at The Edge has a great deal of respect for Opie and Anthony. You will hear some people say that the show failed here and that's why this is happening but that couldn't be further from the truth. O&A were successful in Western New York and we remain honored to have carried them for the last 2 years. Part of our plan two years ago was to grow the station by putting Buffalo radio legends Shredd and Ragan in afternoons. The move of that show has been a tremendous success. By adding O&A to our line up in mornings we created compelling radio that Buffalo embraced. While our plan was indeed a tremendous success, it is now time to move to the next level and the future of rock radio in Western New York. Starting this Monday, I will go on the air in the morning dealing you the rock music you demanded. You will have direct access to me. I will answer any and all questions. We will also create an O&A forum at wedg.com for you to share your thoughts on this decision as your opinion matters. Feel free to call me Monday at 716-644-9EDGE. There is a lot of negative press about radio in the 21st century but understand that Buffalo is different. I'm from South Buffalo and I've known these three words my entire life. 'Buffalo expects more.' With that being said, we're now poised to give you more. It is with mixed emotions that Opie and Anthony depart, we must now look to the future and the opportunity we have to produce a Buffalo based morning show that can belong to our community; a morning show that will not only entertain you, but give you the content control and Buffalo material that you expect from us. We will invest in our morning show and our ability to be a 100% Buffalo radio station. I look forward to telling you all about it in the coming weeks. I hope to see you out at Edgefest 2008 on Saturday! James Kurdziel

I've spoken with some DJs at the Edge and they insist this is a bigger move by Citadel to get rid of Opie & Anthony. The local jock said 99% of the people at the station want O&A back but "corporate" will not allow it. This does not seem very good at all. I hope they land on infinity, or fuck, even come to 91.3 (college radio station). Buffalo needs O&A.

Also, FUCK YOU CITADEL.

Btw, Rock 93-7 in Lafayette, LA is probably next on the chopping block if the Citadel source is correct. Sorry Louisiana, we will miss your drawl and sister-fucking.

Hey douche, if you live in Buffalo, your opinion does not count. You're too stupid to move the hell out of there.

So, all the songs that if you wanted to hear you already had on your MP3 player is better than something that's different and live (almost) every day?

Hell, even Hoo-Hoo Howie would be better than All The Music That Roookkkkxxxx....

Really? I don't know what I'm talking about and am a Troll?

Idiots.

I LIVE not that far away from Buffalo.

I WATCH Buffalo news.

I READ Buffalo news.

I WORKED in Buffalo (and quite glad not to anymore).

I do have an idea what I'm talking about.

And when was the last time that Mr. Opie lived in Buffalo? Was it when the vacancy rate of homes was skyrocketing? Was it when the mayor of Buffalo was covering for his son?

So what is it that you heart about Buffalo? Is it the sewage stink after hockey games? Is it the irritating way the roads are layed out? The empty and rotting houses?

How's that murder rate, did it finally go down after record highs?
