Artie Lange? Seinfeld? Chris Rock? Breuer? Woody Allen?

I think it might actually be Chris Rock. He could only be trumped by Dave Chapelle. Then again, if they try to pull the Obama card it could get ugly. Artie Lange is a wild card, Breuer would be treat but not a surprise, and just throwing in Seinfeld and Allen in as wishful thinking.

Post your speculations here, faggots.

I've been thinking Jim Breuer.

I never knew Woody Allen was a comedian. Do you mean Woody Harrelson? the guy from Cheers who played the bartender after Coach (or whatever his name was) died? I thought Woody Allen was a director. I met him when I was really really young. He directed a movie in my neighborhood, and I went with my mom to see him make the movie, and we met him. I don't really remember it, though.

Woody Allen did stand-up in the late 50's early 60's. Woody Harrelson is just a pot smoking bed wetting liberal douche whose father may or may have not been one of the men on the grassy knoll. Easy to confuse. :)

I also thought Dice.

If it ends up not being him, I'm having trouble picturing him visiting again. Not because of animosity, but it seems awkward and I don't see a circumstance for him coming on the show.

07-27-2008, 04:25 AM
I've been thinking
Dane Cook, Larry Cable Guy, or Chappelle

each of them would be a situation where they probably contractually can't be advertised, because it could affect ticket sales for any big gigs in the area (that people could pay less ). Chappelle is unlikely; the only thing that got me thinking about him is the fact that he's been on the record as hearing the O and A show is fun. Larry had indicated he'd be interested. Of course, Dane is close with "Ol' lil' Slugger t-shirt" .

edit: now that i read your other posts, the Breuer thing would make a lot of sense.

However, I'm guessing it's Dane or someone equally white.

I also think Dice is a good guess, but there are probably still enough haters out there that it wouldn't happen at this point. Dice needs to be on the show a few more times first to win back the haters who haven't let it go. Breuer on the other hand is still the lost golden boy of the O&A show. People would freak out to see Breuer on stage with O&A. Lock it up and bet the house boys and girls, its Jim Breuer.

tysonpunchinguterus
07-27-2008, 10:26 AM
I don't think it'll be Dice. That just seems like it could get ugly fast right now even though he was on the show to somewhat clear things up with everyone.

My first guess was Dane Cook and my 2nd guess is Bruer. Dane would be the bigger name, obviously, but Bruer would probably be the one most people there would prefer to see. I could see them not promoting Dane on the card ahead of time just to keep his fans from getting most of the tickets and not "getting" the rest of the group (aside from Bobby), but I can see them not announcing Bruer just to have him be a suprise for the fans there or not announcing him ahead of time because of the uncertainty of the merger and how it might look to Sirius execs if they got word that one of their hosts was appearing on a show being held by XM guys when there was still a chance that the merger would be rejected by the FCC.

Dice
I said this in the original thread about this that Anthony will do ADG & Dice will come out to confront him
that would be funny, if that happened

The draw back with Dice is that some fans might still have things against him so he will get booed and as they have said they hate it when the comedians get booed. I think there is still to much heat following Dice.

That leaves Breuer, it could happen, it would get a nice reaction from the crowd and considered the whole merger thing, i think it is possible.

Who knows, those are my two guesses.

Why would he do an O&A show?

He can hang with Norton anytime & see's Nick all the time

In case you missed it, he doesn't even like the boys

Hence the idea of this being a surprise. If it was obvious or likely, it would just be another comic. While Breuer would be a surprise, I wouldn't be shocked if it was him. Same goes for Dice.

Again, I said it wasn't likely, but I wouldn't rule it out. And I'm sorry...but when did Artie say, "I don't like Opie and Anthony?" His employer is Howard Stern. He's not going to speak highly of a rival radio show.

Even if he did say it, how many times did we as fans think bridges were burned only to see something or someone we never thought we'd see/hear again? Dice in studio is a perfect example of that.

And you're right. He can hang out with Jimmy anytime, and even do his HBO show this coming fall. But yeah, no chance it's him...

I'm probably in the large minority that hopes people from the O&A and Stern camp can come together (even just to be cordial) when the merger is finalized. I know real life isn't like wrestling, but to me, Howard has been like a heel for the past 10 years and O&A were the faces. Seeing the heel turn face would be very interesting, as a radio listener.

That being said, I know these are human beings and some of this shit between the two shows runs real deep so I'm not holding my breathe. I also have no faith that Howard or anyone associated with his show has the class or the fucking balls to give any credit to O&A. I'm just adding speculation to a speculation thread.

You don't see the difference in Artie doing an HBO show hosted by a long time friend that he always speaks very highly of & him doing a full-blown O&A event who he never spoke highly of?

Even though Norton is third mic there is a huge huge difference

I completely see the difference. Jim is 3rd mic but he also facilitated Dice's return to the studio (the same person who bashed O&A worse than Artie ever did).

I'm just going to back off because it's probably not Artie. My point is that I wouldn't be shocked if it was him because stranger things have happened and there has been significantly less tension between the two programs recently.

I remember listening to an old tape and I think Patrice and a few of the other comics were saying Colin wanted to be on the Traveling Virus and was disappointed he wasn't booked. I was just thinking about why he hasn't been on the show for a couple months and thought maybe it was to throw people off for this.....that, or the rotund old man is busy throwing together his own Happy Endings.

After today's open invite from Op to Breuer to do the show on Sat. it makes me think that the mystery guest is someone else entirely (unless that was a staged invite and he's already been booked).

I was sure it was Jim before that.

I've got to go with Dice.

Or maybe Artie Lange.:D

I don't think its going to happen, but Ehh maybe op contacted bruer, and he said yes. That's the only thing I could see possible. But yesterday on his show on sirius, he was talking with nick dip, and mentioned how he never got into the radio war thing remained cool with both stern and opie and anthony. He did state that he thought his best spot was on stern thou. But, that he thanked opie for everything. He said that Op contacted him to do a show on the channel. He said, he was honored, but he wanted to craft a show first, and felt there was no way he could follow a strong show like O&A, and that when stern arrived, he was nervous. He thought he was gonna get blasted for being friends with O&A, but everything was cool.

Mark from New Jersey called and he mentioned that Op put the invitation out there for the virus tour this weekend. Jim said, he has kids now, and does not know if he would be able to do it, but it meant a lot to him, and he thanks opie for the invite. He also mentioned it was great that everyone is under one roof now.

Other callers called in and thought it was cool that he never got into the radio wars, and remained friends with both shows. It also showed, there are a lot of O&A fans that tune into Sirius. They will defineatly be resigned. But, I don't think we will see him at the virus show. I hope I am wrong thou!

Yep also remember a few other points:
If he was the "surprise" Opie wouldn't have tipped his hat the other day by inviting him
Also when a "surprise" was announced the merger was not done & Breuer was pretty open about being a team playyer with Sirius

agreed Breuer sounded pretty thankful of the invitation, but did not give an answer yesterday, and the tone was almost as if he could not do it. But, who

Yep, it's Dice for sure. Aside from the hints that it's a Jersey Legend and Opie is "getting the band back together", this is something that Dice would do. He did the same thing on the Gene Simmons roast with his surprise appearance.

Dice likes to think that he is still Mr. "I can sell out the Garden", so he is expecting a huge "HOLY SHIT IT'S DICE" moment from the audience when he comes out on stage.

So was there a comedian at PNC that caused an eventual douche in the audience to start booing in an attempt to recreate the Bill Burr Philly moment? Had to be some basement dwelling fuckface that felt it was his right to boo senselessly because he paid for a ticket.

I hope when this happened that the pests heeded Opie's words and ate their own. And if I'm wrong and everybody behaved themselves? Well, you Jersey people are all good eggs!

Yup, it was mike birbiglia, and it was bad...

So awkward, he's a funny guy but lead off with an ok joke, and the sharks attacked. He kind of handled it well at first, then the wheels fell off.

I'm a "texter" and I've been "getting ready" for the past fucking week and haven't heard shit!

Was there any goof factor to the car giveaway, or was it legit?

They gave out the secret word to text during the commercial for the ford company sponsoring the giveaway. That way, it was given to someone listening to FM

Did they light it on fire and roll it off the stage at him?

A bit surprising. After Friday's show, I would have put money down on it being Mike DiStefano. Very few of his jokes went over during the XM Black Sabbath interview, and he even got a decent number of boos from the bleachers.

Did Birbiglia fight back, or did he just eat his balls and finish up his set?

the poor guy tried to fight back and went down to the crowd and tried to work them but couldnt convert anything. He eventually returned to the stage and asked the crowd if they liked jimmy norton.......and when everyone erupted.....he dropped/smashed the mic and walked.

Honestly, unless he knew how to work the crowd like Vos, he did the right thing. It got to the point of no return. His normal set is good, its the crowd that douched him.

He ate his balls. He when into the audience and started asking people why they were booing him. When that went nowhere, he asked the crowd if Jim Norton was funny, the crowd cheered and he threw the mic to the ground and walked off.

It was painful to watch, he never had a chance. He really needed to go on earlier in the show. Otto and George did not have a great set, a lot of really old material, but the crowd was at least respectful because he is a great friend of the show.

Good. So the Virus tour went from about 3 dates in '06 to 8 dates to '07 to ONE FUCKING RELUCTANT DATE this year. Add in fuckface fans that booed comedians as an add-on benefit to an animation festival, and you'll be waiting a long time before the boys pull together another fun event featuring comedians in the future.

Great job "anti-pests." You're really making us look like quite the dedicated fanbase that does the right things for the good of the show.

I felt really bad for Birbiglia. The car giveaway was a clusterfuck, and O&A tried to save it by having a ton of girls flash on stage. All the girls refused and I think that pissed off the pretty drunk crowd. Then Birbiglia comes out on stage and an already hostile crowd just pounces on him before he could do any jokes.

If he would have come on after Breuer, before the car giveaway stuff, I don't think the crowd would have been so harsh. He did the right thing walking off stage. The people that were booing were never going to give him a chance.

Other than that everyone kicked ass. Norton and Bob Kelly killed.

His cracker joke was old, the crowd smelled blood and since they booed the people trying to win the car a few minutes before, thats all it took. I do believe if he would have done his Bill Burr impression, he might have saved it. He looked like he was thinking "OH SHIT SO I'M THE GUY WHO WILL BE BOOED TONIGHT"

I gave O&A and Jimmy credit. Honestly, if I were them, I would have come out and said, "We're tired of you douchebags pulling this tired old gag already. The show is now over, fuck you, and good night."

As someone else pointed out, there may never be another virus tour, and this is exactly why. Because of the "haters".

Oh, btw, line of the night...the guy that gave a "fuck you" to the stripper on the left. Man, what a dud she was. She was nowhere to be seen for the second half of the show. :action-sm

And there was no Meet and Greet afterwards. It just makes you wonder....going from many dates to one, and with the birbiglia thing and O & A not really looking THAT enthoused about the show, was this their doing? or K-Rock's doing? I mean, it just seemed like the spirit from last years and two years ago's shows just wasnt there at all....

i posted this in the other thread but ill guess ill put it here too since there is no official thread for the show.

1-The village sucked, clown, sword swallower and some annoying douche giving away tickets to the stress factory...oh and 7-9 dollar beers oof.

2-we all got offered upgrades from the lawn to seats on our way in

3-no big intro, no dru boogie

4-Vos came out through a portable toilet, was his usual on stage self, did well

5-Mike Destefano was awesome, one of those guys where u hear the same material but it still funny, punching the jamaican woman in the pussy is always funny.

6-Bob Kelly killed

7-Otto wasn't as good as Jones Beach last year (which i think might be his best set ever). He was still good though, although i think he tries to get the crowd to turn on him cuz he's weird like that, it hasn't worked though

8-Patrice stole the show...i think him and burr are the 2 best comics working today (i see a lot of comedy im not just saying that as an o and a fan)

9-intermission was REALLY long or at least it seemed like it

10-o and a come out and introduce Jim Breuer (thats how u spell it btw), he was ok, he didn't kill as everyone has said, big ovation but his usual long winded stories took the life out of the crowd a little bit.

11-The car bit started....oof. bad cameras bad planning, anthony drinks too much

12-Greg Giraldo comes out, has a start where the first booing starts but he killed it with a good joke and finished strong.

13-car bit sucks again as do the cameras, girls suck, o and a are kinda killing the flow of the show at this point then they throw mr. birbiglia to the wolves

14-Mike Birbiglia is not the right kinda of comic for this kind of show whether he was a regular or not. Even Brian Regan would get booed. Bad placement for him too. Most people knew he would be the one to get booed so he should have been set up better but they set him up as the 2nd to last comic after a failure of a bit and after 2 comics taht didn't do as well as the 5 guys before them. He threw down the mic at the end in disgust. Oh and i love how when he was asking people in the crowd why they were booing, no one could give him a legit answer.

15-Norton came out and was good

16-end show, birbiglia did come out with them all at the end but for whatever reason was next to club soda kenny the whole time discussing something. the merch lady said there was no signing so we all left.

birbiglia is not an O&a comic. simply put, he is a good comic, but it is obvious that he just does not work; I am sure he's a good guy and he seems it but after tonight's debacle, watching him on stage frightened me because of those who were booing showed me that he just doesn't work. The whole time i was just sitting there saying, for the love of god please just tell a joke (which he never did) too awkward. Then when he left he asked the crowd if they liked jim norton, UHH I dunno mike what did you expect a resounding no? Bad job. And yes I am a loyal fan for years not one of these tampon "haters" which i know will come up. And on monday, opie will give his speech on siriusxm about how the new york area sucks for events. Hate to be a "Tampon" again, but the tristate area molds the O&A show and for the exception of birbiglia, PNC gave proper positive feedback. Tonight was an extreme hit without mike b and obviously cbs with the whole mustang bit and the prude krock girls, (why were they even invited? c'mon we are talking about cbs radio a 1-2-3 count was never going to work on those Staten Island whores. Anyways, bottom line, great show with breuer there, nice "surprise". Thanks O n A.

Nevertheless, he wasn't even given a chance. The incessant booing started after one joke. Someone else here said it was an old joke of his. Well, I never saw him before, so it wasn't old to me.
Why people can't give a guy 10 minutes without booing is beyond me.
I really don't think Otto and George are all that funny, I think he's (they're) raunchy for the sake of being raunchy (I have the same opinion of Bob Saget, btw). We get it...George likes to talk about cock. But I don't boo.
I thought Breuer's stories were a little too long and drawn out, but I didn't boo.
I once saw Than open for Jimmy at the Stress Factory...umm....let's just say I think he made a huge mistake leaving the show to pursue comedy full time. But I did not boo him. And make no mistake, I hope he proves me wrong in my opinion of his career move.

Bottom line is that they're (the booing fuckheads) just trying to recreate the Bill Burr incident, and simply cannot accept the fact that it was an "in the moment" one time thing. Let it go already.

Positives....I thought Norton, Kelly, and Giraldo killed. DiStefano started slow but finished strong. Patrice wasn't quite as funny as last year, but still had me laughing. Vos was Vos.

Jim Breuer killed. Aside from the Birbiglia thing it was a great show.
I just wish some of the drunken assholes around me could have kept their retarded conversation to a minimum during most of the comedians' sets.

What's the point of paying for a ticket just to talk throughout the whole thing? I'll never get it.

My feelings exactly. Had a great time except for the asshole Super Troopers

The NJ State Police should be embarassed by those idiots. They almost ran

I missed the asshole troopers. I only saw 2 cop cars. One of which had one guy telling people to get on the sidewalk in a curteous, effeminate voice and the other was beat-boxing. I guess that was before they decided to try and act tough, ha.

No wonder they don't get any respect. They certainly don't earn it.
