I just got finished watching the Warren Zevon special on VH1. It was a pretty good show, heavy stuff. For those who don't know, in August of 2002 he was diagnosed with inoperable, terminal lung cancer and giiven 3 months to live. He's exceeded that and was able to complete a new album called The Wind that comes out on Tuesday.

Many of his friends appear as special guests on the album, such as Bruce Springsteen, Don Henley, Timothy B. Schmit, Tom Petty, Jackson Browne, Billy Bob Thornton, Dwight Yoakam, and John Waite.

I saw a bit of that show. I'll have to try and catch all of it.
I saw Zevon at the old Valley Forge Music Fair about 8
years ago. He was the opening act for Eddie Money.
He put on a geat acoustic set first then was joined by
a couple of guys to finish off his performance.

I missed the first 10 minutes actually myself. But, what I did see made for a good show.

I'm going to pick up the CD tomorrow.

Zevon has always been one of my favorite artists. I watched it, and taped it as well. I found the special to be both tragic, and uplifting at the same time. He refused chemo, so he could be clear, and be able to complete the album. He acheived his goal, and then some. I'll be buying it tomorrow as well.

Mr. Zevon lost his battle with cancer last night. Godspeed, and thank you for the music.

Total bummer. But, he knew the end was coming, that's
why he made the last album. I'll have to pick it up.
They played some tunes on WMMR today in his memory.
God speed, Warren.:wings3:

He was a great song writer and performer.

He will be missed by many.

I was saddened this morning when I hopped into the truck to go to work and I heard 3 Warren Zevon songs in a row. I knew he must have died. Then the DJ confirmed it. He will be missed.

I watched Letterman tonight figuring he would take time out of the show, because I knew he and Warren were friends, and Warren sometimes filled in as bandleader when Paul Shaffer wasn't there. He played one of the songs from his show back in October when Warren was on (as the only guest). And at the end of the show he said: "Goodnight Warren. We'll see ya."

The band also played some of Warren's tunes when they came back from commercials, etc.
