She's got a herniated disk and fluid in her spinal chord. So she gets operated on tomorrow. Anyone have any experience with a dog that has it done?
Two years ago she blew out her ACL and they fixed that so from what they were saying it's the same kind of confinement and she'll need therapy for this.
it blows. it sucks. I'm sad.

That sucks man....I feel for you and your pooch.
I had to bring my dog in to have her teeth cleaned and they had to put her under. I felt soooo fucking bad for that dog, she just wasn't "right" when I brought her home. She was clearly out of it and looked exhausted but she would not lay down....she would just stand by me all day. Wherever I went, she would mosey along and just groggily stand there. I was dying inside. Mush for two days then back to normal.
Doggies fucking SLAY me.

ass fucked doesn't even begin to cover what my vet does to me........ i get pink socked every time i go in the fucking place...... but my old lady wants to go there, i choose my battles, as it is i bought a stapler and a supply of penicillin and tetracycline, and arethromycen im sick of paying 200$ every time one of them impales him self on something......
there was a little more to duncans visit than just a teeth cleaning, that was 100$, then the extraction 40$ some fucking 50$ horseshit, the rest was medicine and anesthesia ect..... they nickel and dime the shit out of it..... what ever the toof had to come out, he keeps getting shit caught in between two of his teeth and it starts his gums rotting, his mouth smells like a toilet and its not good for him. so the 500$ although not really something that i want to pay for, in the end it will make us all happeyer, what is funny is he is still trippin' he was drooling and his pupils were HUGE, then he tried to piss and fell over......:haha7:

Good luck with your pooch sir.
I just plopped down $600 today to remove a cyst off of my long haired ankle biter. Little fucker's still stoned. Amazing the money and vet visits I'll go through to make sure my dogs are as healthy as possible, but I delay going to the doctor till I'm nearly impaled with pain.

My Baby Bully had a tumor grow between his L7 and the disc causing the disc to herniate and he was slowly becoming paralyzed. The tumor grew kind of like an octopus and took several hours to remove. He ended up getting half of the L7 and the base of his sacrum shaved down to fit the now deformed disc back in. He was immobile for about 10 or 11 days after and couldn't control his bowel or bladder. However he slowly regained all of that and now except for the fact that his tail is crooked at the top and only wags to the left he is back to being a crazy Bull Terrier like it never happened.
He cant do steps or inclines but that is a small price to pay rather then him be paralyzed. I will suggest that your pup come home on a morphine or fentynal patch as Bully had 45 staples in his back and was in a great deal of pain. This helped his rehab because it knocked him out so all he wanted to sleep and let himself heal. He had his surgery in 05 and we have never looked back. The surgery was done in Valley Forge PA at a hospital called Metropolitan Vet. They were awesome & all the drs. teach at Penn
Hope all goes well.
The white bull terrier is the one that had major back surgery and you can see the only result was his tail crooks to the left!

2 things..first, dogs instinctively will hide their pain, that's why it's really important for owners to keep on top of healthcare...
2nd...as far as pet dentals go-
You need to brush your dog's teeth, no shit, you should do it. They make doggie toothpaste. You can also floss using crayola kid flossers, and use dental chews. They are specially formulated treats to clean teeth...that will save you $$ in the long run and keep your pooch healthy.

It's amazing that all of us crude assholes love our dogs so fucking much!
We'd laugh at an AIDS patient getting splashed by a car driving through a puddle....but if it was a poor homeless dog, we would adopt the dog. And some of us would follow the driver home and kick him or her in the dick or cunt.

I will agree. Baby Bully is a lunatic. Even with 45 staples in his back he wanted to play. The morphine patch eased his pain & I gave him ace everyday to sedate him so that he actually laid still and allowed his body to heal. He was in the hospital for 5 days and when he came home he just wanted to jump and play. Some vets think pain meds hinder healing but if your dog is hyper fuck it they need a little something to take things down a peg....

Bullys back surgery ended up costing $9,775.00 after the MRI and all of the fees while under the gas and the hospital visit. So we didn't furnish the den for a while.......

I got a call from the surgeon @ 1pm.
She came through the surgery "with flying colors". They got everything out of her they had to. She was just waking up from the surgery when the doctor called. She'll probably be weaker when compared to before going in but that's because they had to move her spine to get everything out. But in two weeks she'll be wanting to run around and play and be her active self. Which...will not be good because she'll have to be kept calm for 6 weeks.
It was a chronic thing that went on for years. (You couldn't tell anything was wrong or bothering her until the last few weeks. She never cried or whined in pain. She was "normal".) She may be ready to come home tomorrow afternoon but it'll probably be on Thursday because they like to keep back patients a little longer.
That's the update. All went well and we're expecting a full recovery.
Thanks for thinking good thoughts for her

Glad the pup's doing good...here's to a speedy recovery.
And nothing's worse than spending $2500 on a pet only to have them have to be put to sleep anyway...I don't mind spending the money, and would've spent 10x that to save her, but it's a bitter pill to swallow once the tears start to dry...

She's anxious and not eating. She's hording the food they're giving her (which she does at home) She's not putting weight on her back legs when they've taken her outside. All of this is normal and makes perfect sense. Doesn't make it any easier to not get upset hearing she's upset. They told us to not come there cuz it will only make her feel worse when we leave and she's stuck there.
Surgically she's fine. She may get to come home tomorrow...they may keep her a few more days. It will all depend on how calm she can get. I'd think when she gets feeling back in her back legs the calmer she'll be. I'd freak out too if I went to sleep and woke up sore and no feeling in my legs.

I had a dog who had what can best be described as a stroke. When she was at the vet's, I had to come in a couple times a day, sit in the kennel, and feed her by hand. She would only eat if daddy fed her.

The legs should get stronger in time. Back surgery is very tricky. I have a friend who had back surgery and had no feeling in her legs for 10 days. Pretty scary but it gets better. Nerves shouldn't be touched but sometimes it happens.

Bully started to feel his back legs again about 10 days later. He was also a head case at the hospital without me so they let me take him home. Once at home I just kept towels under him since he had no bowel/bladder control and tossed them as he went. His back surgery looked like it hurt so bad. He looked like the Frankenweenie Bull Terrier with the 45 staples down his back.....
