I recently bought a home with a central air system. Where I grew up, central air was only for rich people, so i know nothing about them.
Any routine maintenance i need to do now that summer is coming to a close or when the spring rolls around?
It's an older system ~ 20 yrs old.

No pleasure, no rapture, no exquisite sin greater than central air.

make sure you change the filters in the return vents once a month especially during months of heavy usage.

I thought only trailers didn't have central air.

I had no idea was a condenser or a compressor was until we got our house last year. This might help.

Not in the Northeast. Lots of places don't have them. It really sucks to be in one of them when a heatwave is going on. My relatives from New Hampshire bitch and moan about how cold the AC is everywhere here in Texas. You go from about 105 degrees outside into a nice chilly 68 when you walk in some place. Ahhhhh, air conditioning.

20 years old?
Replace it immediately for like a 50% electric bill savings. Seriously.

Same here. Now I know all about a Handler, expansion valve, SEER ratings. Also know about horizontal, updraft, and downdraft placement.
