Actor Matt Damon speaks out on the Republicans' choice of hockey-mom Sarah Palin for VP. Damon compares her rise to a 'really bad Disney movie' and says it's crazy that this woman could become President.

He's got a problem with a hockey mom facing down Vladimir Putin, but thinks a douche like Obama could pull it off? I'm not thrilled that Palin is a religious right wacko, but I think she's got more balls than Obama.

...she's facing down Vladimir Putin and she's the hockey mom, using the ya know folksie things she learned at the hockey rink.
Are you fucking serious? Folksie stuff she learned at the hockey rink? What in the fuck has Hussein Obama learned to face down Vladimir Putin from being a community organizer? He sure as fuck didn't make Chicago work because it's still one of the most violent cities in the nation WITH their stupid gun ban (which he supports) because only criminals have guns.
Fucking get real. I like youre Bourne movies fella, but your elitist shit about how not an average person can be president is ridiculous. I guess you have to be making a certain amount of money and be part of the upper caste system to be considered for presidential candidacy. FUCK YOU, how ya like them apples?

The last two elections should've taught you that the Hollywood left has no bearing on how people vote when they go to a polling location.
Let Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Annette Benning and Scarlett Johnanson support who they want. Most of them are still entertaining so that's all that matters to me.

In Hollywood, someone who is famous has to pretty much hide the fact if they are a Republican. I've read alot of articles that talk about how they end up losing work and other types of backlash they face if it is common knowledge.

GIBSON: You said recently, in your old church, "Our national leaders are sending U.S. soldiers on a task that is from God." Are we fighting a holy war?
PALIN: You know, I don't know if that was my exact quote.
GIBSON: Exact words.
PALIN: But the reference there is a repeat of Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words. But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side. That's what that comment was all about, Charlie.
GIBSON: I take your point about Lincoln's words, but you went on and said, "There is a plan and it is God's plan."
PALIN: I believe that there is a plan for this world and that plan for this world is for good. I believe that there is great hope and great potential for every country to be able to live and be protected with inalienable rights that I believe are God-given, Charlie, and I believe that those are the rights to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That, in my world view, is a grand -- the grand plan.
GIBSON: But then are you sending your son on a task that is from God?
PALIN: I don't know if the task is from God, Charlie. What I know is that my son has made a decision. I am so proud of his independent and strong decision he has made, what he decided to do and serving for the right reasons and serving something greater than himself and not choosing a real easy path where he could be more comfortable and certainly safer.
Wow.

Wow.
What are you wowing? It reads to me like Palin schooled that guy. She explained exactly what any intelligent person knows she meant. Her quote is taken entirely out of context. So much so that the media is blatantly omitting parts of the quote on purpose.
The full quote is verbatim is :
"Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That's what we have to make sure that we're praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God's plan."

close, but not there. It's the uppity right wingers who get up in arms over a differing opinion(well represented in this thread), and the moronic lefties who praise his word as gospel due to agreeance. If it weren't for those two groups of rubes, we'd be spared the soapboxing of celebrities.

Way I see it, the only reason the dude even brings up god is because he thinks it'll get the rubes in the south and midwest on his side. And if not, at least he's not claiming that we're in Iraq by god's direction.

I'm just pointing out that the guy you said you would rather vote for had been a member of a church for 20 years. And his Reverend promotes racism and the whole basis was built on a divided America...the White America that destroys this country and brought terrorism on ourselves and black inferiority. "God damn America", right? I would think that's much more dangerous than the typical god loving politicians.

I don't need a belief in imaginary characters to have a good life on earth. Thinking outside of the box is what I'm doing. I don't have to be afraid that superman, jesus, or allah will punish me when I die in order to provide my wife and sons with a good life or to respect my fellow man. This has nothing to do with my life turning out "bad". I got plenty of money, a house, a couple cars, a family and friends I love. What does eating the corpse of christ every sunday or fearing being burned in fire for all eternity have to do with that?
Thanks for the affirmation that I'm no better or worse than all of you cultists who only behave yourselves because god told you to. I was worried about that one. How about this: religious cultists, no matter what their stripe, stop trying to nose their way into the lives of people who are strong enough not to need fairytale scenarios to lead good lives. It's not my fucking problem that you folks are out there grasping at an afterlife because you're scared or because you want to see grandma again when you die. Amen

Wow Rob...you really told us. Oh...sometimes I eat the "corpse of Christ" on Saturday night. I like to sleep in on some Sundays. Did someone have an encounter when they were younger that forced them to sleep on their tummy for a week?
I'm not trying to teach life lessons dude. Just responding to what's being put out there. I get that you wanted to use a norton line, and that your churches have got the market cornered on pederadsty. I never had to worry about it cause I wasn't a part of one. Great way to put over your religion though, by saying how they fuck little boys. You sure showed me the error of my heretical ways.

Amen
You are delusional. I'm not even talking about us being "cultists."
You entirely missed my point that we are all people and it doesn't matter if you choose religion or not. Let people have their belief systems because as of today you can't stand on a soap box and prove that there are no other beings, or greater beings, that have or have not sparked life on Earth.
When you can prove it then you will have a point to tell people they are stupid for believing in a greater power than man.

People can have whatever fucked up beliefs they want dude. I don't care if another religious sect pops up who thinks they have to stuff mashed potatoes up their ass nightly or the terrible space thunder lizard will come from the sky and punish them for their transgression. My problem is the beliefs of all these wackos intruding in my life. There's no official religion in the US, but shit if I don't have to hear about god and jesus every fucking five minutes from political hucksters.
That sopabox thing works both ways slim. You can't prove that there's an old biker living in the clouds just like I can't prove there's no higher power.

Not that it matters, but Palin has never said God created dinosaurs 4,000 years ago. That was a joke on a blog:

This was also debunked on CNN, which may be why nobody knows about it:

We're not supposed to ask about Obama's church, right?

Shit. I thought the fact that his church was brought up 8000 times by the right meant that it was time to bring up her's now. Just so they both look like assholes right?

of course not....and not to mention the fact that Obama was married in that church and his kids were raised listening to wright's preachings about our glorious nation
give me a fucking break..."I never heard him say that stuff before"
20 years in Wright's church and he NEVER heard that?

We'll get to see the video in mid October - at least that's when I expect the Clinton's to leak it.

Well...that's a tough question for him.
Yes, he admits that he did attend Wright's church and heard his preachings...in fact, he liked it so much that he even listened to it on tape. But he left the church and abandoned Wright conveniently after questions were being asked and accusations were being made.
But the question remains...did he ever consider leaving the church after hearing about 20 years worth of anti-white, anti-American preachings from his good pastor Wright? Well...let's let him answer that...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU2Yv-rnJEo&NR=1
So, there's your answer.
He did hear some very controversial anti-American/racial nonsense in his church...but take comfort in knowing that he would've left the church and abandoned the good Reverend had he actually heard any controversial anti-American/racial nonsense in his church. Rrrrrrriiiiight. Hey how bout that Sarah Palin and her crazy whacked out kids huh? :icon_wink
