Hello my fellow Giants fans! What a great victory today, they were dominate, although Eli seemed a little off today. Brandon Jacobs is fucking money, just keep giving him the football.
I am a very happy fan, seeing the defending champs at 7-1, with the best record in the NFC. Now, here comes the test, the second half, and a lot of division games ahead, including those hated Iggles next week.

Totally agree, what the fuck is the NFL thinking about? The same with the NHL, who want to outlaw fighting. Are these leagues fucking for real?
The game is nothing like it was 20 years ago, hell, even 10. They need to stop with the bullshit, and let the men play fucking football again. I am all for protecting the players, such as the horsecollar and face mask penalties, but, a legitimate tackle of a QB?

During the Packers/Titans game Moose said something along the lines of "they try to protect the safety of the players especially the quarterbacks". What kind of shit is that? How about everyone is treated equally. Obviously, you need to worry about the late hits on the exposed QBs as well as unneeded shots to the head, but come on. Too much ticky-tacky shit gets called.

What a complete domination. At no point during that game was I the least bit nervous. I am finally getting some props from people who during the offseason were trying to convince me that the DLine wouldn't be able to get pressure with out Stray and Osi. I tried to tell them about Kiwi and Tuck but they just laughed. God I love to say "I told you so." 7-1, Fucking Beautiful. Go Steelers tomorrow. A 2 game lead in the division would be sweet.

Goodell finally sees the tape of the Tuck hit, and then rescinds the fine.
The NFL has rescinded a $7,500 fine levied against Giants defensive end Justin Tuck for a hit on Cowboys quarterback Brooks Bollinger on Sunday.
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell saw the play for the first time Friday, the Newark Star-Ledger reported. Goodell told Ray Anderson, the NFL's executive vice president of football operations, that the fine was too high. Tuck had planned to appeal.
"Not every penalty deserves a fine, and this is one of them," NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said.
Tuck was flagged for driving Bollinger into the turf in the second half. Replays show Tuck wrapping up Bollinger the moment the quarterback released the ball, then partly releasing his grasp on their way down before landing on Bollinger with his full body weight.
NFL information manager Randall Liu, quoted in Friday's New York Times, said Tuck was fined because "he unnecessarily drove the opposing quarterback to the ground."
NFC East blog
"Our job description is basically to destroy a quarterback, but you've got to pick and choose how to do it," Tuck said Thursday, according to The Times, after announcing he would appeal the fine. Tuck had 2½ of the Giants' four sacks in a 35-14 victory over Dallas.

Good game. So weird that Eli has gone 5 games without exceeding 200 yards and they are 4-1 in that time. Amazing what a good Defense and a great running game can do. My only gripe is they ran that stupid fucking inside handoff out of the shoutgun 5 straight times, and got stuffed each time, then on the biggest 3rd down of the game they run it again. Fucking baffling. Just take this POS play out of the playbook, even when it "works" it yields 5-8 yards.

I don't think this team will look past anybody. That's not how they are. Especially because you guys are looking really good recently. Coughlin should bring up the Super Bowl and the ass kicking that you gave us in front of the world, and if that doesn't work he should bring up that joke that was the '04 game, in Eli's second start where he had a quarterback rating of like 4 I think. the Ravens may have a great run defense, so we may very well see Eli going to the air more. it will be interesting to see how Jacobs, Ward, and Bradshaw fare against them. the best rushing combination against the best rushing defense definitely sounds like a big matchup. i don't think the Ravens D has ever faced such a constant rushing onslaught like that. that's the beauty of having three great RB's, they can keep the rush going all game, chipping away at the defense until they break through.

well there was that one pick in the Super Bowl that he was credited for, though it wasn't his fault. and that pass that just glanced off Asante Samuels' fingers that could have cost them the game. yeah, Eli can't seem to go a game without making a mistake or two, which worries the shit outta me during every game.

Point Differentials (NYG and TEN are really pulling away):
1 - NYG: +122 (#1 scoring offense, #6 scoring defense)
2 - Ten: +113
3 - Phi: +71
The Giants are AVERAGING 172.7 rushing yards per game. Let that sink in. thats just fucking sick. 2nd in the league? Oh, the Falcons who are averaging TWENTY YPG less at 153.4!
Giants are averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Falcons are 2nd at 4.4 YPC.

Jacobs to have MRI on "ailing knee" ("http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2008/11/jacobs-to-have-mri-on-ailing-k.html)
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs has some swelling in his knee and will have an MRI later today, but Tom Coughlin sounded “hopeful” that Jacobs would be able to play in Arizona on Sunday afternoon.
“There’s a little swelling,” Coughlin said on a conference call a few minutes ago. “He’s walking really well. They’re going to do all the tests. Hopefully we’ll get this under control.”
Coughlin declined to say which knee Jacobs injured, but he said it happened early in the Giants’ 30-10 win over Baltimore yesterday. Jacobs carried 11 times for 73 yards, but nine of those carries came in the first half. Afterwards, Jacobs said he could’ve returned to the game if necessary. Coughlin said that was true.
“Yeah, I think that was the way it was,” Coughlin said. “He came out and was ready to go. You know, we wanted to make sure exactly what this is. So we were cautious.”
Of course, even with Jacobs temporarily sidelined, the Giants still managed to put up 207 yards on the NFL’s No. 1 rushing defense. Derrick Ward rushed 11 times for 41 yards and Ahmad Bradshaw rushed nine times for 96 yards, including a 77-yarder. So it’s possible the Giants’ rushing game could still thrive if Jacobs has to miss some time.
“We’ve been down this road before,” Coughlin said. “Hopefully this won’t keep Brandon out at all, but we have some people that are prepared.”
should be fine, but still it's an aggravation

Pro Bowl balloting update... (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2008/11/its-a-landslide-redskins-domin.html)
It's a landslide! Redskins dominating Pro Bowl vote
There’s some ballot-stuffing going on down in D.C.
With three weeks to go in the NFL’s Pro Bowl fan voting on NFL.com (which runs through Dec. 9), an incredible 16 members of the Washington Redskins lead in the voting at their respective positions. That’s just stunning considering the Redskins trail the Giants by three games in the NFC East and considering there are only 19 positional categories on the ballot.
The Redskins also have four of the Top 10 overall vote-getters — RB Clinton Portis (second), TE Chris Cooley (fifth), WR Santana Moss (sixth) and QB Jason Campbell (ninth). The only Giants player in the Top 10 is quarterback Eli Manning, who ranks fourth with 395,526 votes. And he’s still only second among NFC quarterbacks. New Orleans’ Drew Brees (the overall vote leader) is first.
Of course, fan voting - which has been open since Oct. 13 — only counts for only one-third of the Pro Bowl selection process. Votes from coaches and players make up the other two-thirds. Still, that’s a lot of Redskins. And it’ll undoubtedly remind a lot of Giants about last season when the Dallas Cowboys sent 147 players to the Pro Bowl and the champs sent only Osi Umenyiora.
No respect, I tell ya …
On the bright side, there is hope since 17 Giants do appear in the top five in the voting at their positions in the NFC:
• Justin Tuck leads all NFC defensive ends (198,223)
• Eli Manning, as I mentioned earlier, is second among NFC quarterbacks (395,526)
• Shaun O’Hara is second among NFC centers (170,262)
• Madison Hedgecock is second among NFC fullbacks (90,818)
• John Carney is second among NFC kickers (56,796)
• Jeff Feagles is second among NFC punters (106,723)
• Chase Blackburn is second among NFC special teams players (60,918)
• Kevin Boss is third among NFC tight ends (108,914 … 31,000 votes ahead of Jeremy Shockey, by the way)
• Chris Snee is third among NFC guards (137,481)
• Antonio Pierce is third among NFC inside linebackers (98,265)
• David Diehl is third (92,706) and Kareem McKenzie is fourth (80,156) among NFC tackles
• Plaxico Burress if fourth among NFC receivers (199,605)
• Michael Johnson is fourth among NFC free safeties (42,068)
• Brandon Jacobs is fifth among NFC running backs (174,856)
• Fred Robbins is fifth among NFC defensive tackles (84,143)
• James Butler is fifth among NFC strong safeties (46,488)Sooo...yeah, if you want to do your part and cast some votes...Go Here (http://www.nfl.com/probowl/ballot)

I really don't know how to feel when the pundits start talking about the Giants and using the types of platitudes usually reserved for other teams. I haven't ever heard my Giants talked about in those terms. Not even in '86 and '90. Sure, the Defense had praise heaped upon it back then but it was never like this for the team as a whole. I also don't believe anyone ever thought they were the team to beat in the NFL. Not even the 3 years when they won the Superbowl.

Mike's right, in '86 I'd bet that it was still all about the '85 Bears defense (even though we went 14-2); in '90 the Giants were (13-3) and everyone could/would only talk about the Bills and 49ers. Last season, under no circumstances were the Giants ever once mentioned as a championship contender.
This year, it's strange...they're talking about the Giants with nice laudatory terms, yet all it takes is the Cowboys to beat up on the godawful 9ers and everyone immediately forgets about the Giants. I've never seen it happen like that before

Whoops...who saw this coming?
New York Giants receiver Plaxico Burress suffered an accidental gunshot wound Friday night in a club, according to multiple sources.
Burress
Details of the incident weren't immediately available, but according to a source the wound was not considered life-threatening.
Fox Sports.com reported that Burress accidentally shot himself in the leg and spent the night in the hospital.
Burress, who was not expected to play against the Washington Redskins on Sunday with a hamstring injury, was not at team meetings and did not attend the team's Saturday walkthrough.
The Giants organization was not commenting on the story.
In September, Burress was suspended for a game and fined for a violation of team rules, reportedly failing to appear at a team meeting and being unavailable by phone. At the time, his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said that Burress was tending to urgent family matters.
Burress signed a five-year, $35 million contract this fall after helping the Giants to a Super Bowl championship last season.

Maybe because of things like, Richard Collier being shot and having his leg amputated, Javon Walker being beaten to a pulp and left in a gutter, Darrent Williams being killed, Sean Taylor being shot to death, Will Allen getting mugged and robbed of $100,000 worth of stuff when he was a rookie in New York. Oh, but since Burress is 6'6'' and in the paper everyday, at least he is not easily recognizable and he is hard to spot in a crowd, plus people dont know that he has alot of money and an awful lot to lose, which would make him an easy target. OK, so how come we never hear about white football players being shot? I can pretty much guarantee you won't hear about Eli Manning getting shot or shooting anyone. I'll bet Brett Favre won't be the victim of a drive by anytime soon.
Same thing for rappers. Metallica probably won't get shot and killed by Slayer. Axl Rose challenged Vince Neil to a fight once, and the guy from White Stripes punched someone. But no one from a rock band went out and shot another rock band member. Rappers get shot/robbed/beaten all the time.

Hixon can fill in more than adequately, if not better than, Burress. At least he's shown that this season. Blackburn is a nice player, a hell of a special teamer, but I'm not so sure how I feel about him being the starting middle linebacker for the duration of a suspension :icon_conf

I love all the Fathers of the Year on here who say "He should be home with his kid, maaaan". Come on. The guy is doing what the vast majority of us would be doing, taking some time to hang out with teammates. I'm sure he spent enough quality time with the kid during the holiday and just wanted a chance to hang out, especially since it was most likely after the kid's bed time to begin with.
Yes, it was fucking stupid to shoot himself in the leg. Yes, it was fucking stupid for that dolt Pierce to try and cover it up. But its not like he pulled a Ray Lewis here. Lets let the facts come out, let the disciplinary actions take effect and move on with our lives.

So a few more details seem to be emerging about the bizarre "Plaxico shot himself at a club" story. The New York Post is now reporting that the incident took place just after midnight on Friday at a club called Latin Quarter in Manhattan, while Plax was out on the town with teammate Antonio Pierce. I suggest you read the rest of the story with the Benny Hill theme playing in the background:

Don't know if anyone else heard this but the Fox announcers said that Plax's attorney told the AP (it's gotta be true!) that he will be charged with criminal possession of a weapon, and that he will turn himself in tomorrow morning. Giants WR Burress charged on 2 felony weapon counts, released (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3736356)
NEW YORK -- New York Giants star receiver Plaxico Burress was charged with two counts of felony possession of a weapon in the second degree Monday and released on a $100,000 bond.
Burress, who accidentally shot himself Friday night in the right thigh at a Manhattan nightclub, did not enter a plea, though his attorney said Burress planned to plead not guilty.
Manhattan Criminal Court Judge Felicia Mennin ordered Burress to return March 31.
Defense lawyer Benjamin Brafman argued for no bail, saying: "He has 35 million reasons to come back to court" -- referring to Burress' $35 million contract with the Giants.
Prosecutors also released a criminal complaint that provides a witness account from the club where Burress shot himself, the Latin Quarter.
A witness heard a popping sound before Burress' legs began to shake. It says the person saw a bloody pistol fall out of his pant leg and land on the floor.
A grand jury will hear evidence and make a decision on whether Burress will be indicted. Illegal possession of a firearm carries a sentence of 3½ to 15 years in jail..
Police escorted Burress out of a midtown Manhattan police station in handcuffs earlier Monday, placing him in a car in which he was taken downtown for booking and his court appearance.
Burress arrived to the 17th Precinct station shortly after 8 a.m. ET in a black Cadillac Escalade wearing jeans and a black coat.
Burress was silent but held his head high as he was led out of the police station, where a crowd that included Giants fans hovered nearby with cell phone cameras. He was not visibly limping.
Burress had a concealed-weapon permit issued to him in Florida but records show it expired in May and New York does not recognize out-of-state permits anyway, New York media have reported.
"He is standing tall. He is a mature adult," his lawyer, Benjamin Brafman said. "I think any professional athlete in this situation would be concerned."
The episode set off a frenzy that showed no signs of letting up Monday: Police said the case could expand beyond Burress, with authorities investigating Giants linebacker Antonio Pierce and whether the hospital Burress checked into failed to report the shooting. The NFL is closely monitoring the developments as well.
According to the New York Post, the hospital, the New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center, failed to report the gunshot as required by law after hospital personnel recognized Burress, despite his checking in under a fake name -- Harris Smith.
He also told the hospital he'd been shot at an Applebee's restaurant, the Post reported, citing unnamed sources.
A more detailed timeline of the evening also emerged. Police said Pierce, Burress and running back Derrick Ward arrived at the club with two other people around 11:30 p.m. Friday.
Burress had been allowed to bypass security, even though they knew he was armed, according to a law enforcement official who spoke with The Associated Press on condition of anonymity. The club is said to be fully cooperating in the investigation.
Around 12:05 a.m., as Burress was being escorted to a VIP area with a drink in one hand, he somehow ended up fumbling his gun and it discharged, hitting his thigh. Pierce was with him when that occurred, police said.
It's believed Pierce took Burress to the car and then left with him, according to police. The .40-caliber Glock was found in the glove compartment of Pierce's Cadillac Escalade, but it's unclear who put the weapon there.
Police are trying to figure out what happened in the two hours that followed. Burress showed up at the hospital around 2:20 a.m, and was discharged at 1 p.m. Saturday.
Police said they had to track Burress down by canvassing local hospitals, and he had been discharged from New York-Presbyterian by the time detectives got there Saturday. An administrator then refused to give detectives information, citing privacy rules, police said.
The gun was eventually recovered at Burress' house in New Jersey, authorities said.
Pierce was interviewed by NFL security at the Giants' hotel Saturday in Washington, Giants general manager Jerry Reese said.
Police and NFL security were also probing whether there was a third Giants player who was present or involved, at the very least for gathering more information on the incident, sources told ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen on Sunday.
The New York Daily News has reported that Pierce tried to hide Burress' gun.
"Antonio is working on trying to beat the Redskins right now," Reese said before Sunday's 23-7 victory at Washington. "That's where his focus is and where it should be right now."
Pierce deflected several questions after the game. He wouldn't say whether he has a lawyer and when asked if he is concerned about his own situation, Pierce replied only: "No. I'm fine where I'm at.
"I am not answering any questions about the incident that happened Friday night. If you have anything to say about the Washington Redskins, this game and moving forward, I'll answer it. Anything else, I'm not answering."
Ward said he wasn't with Burress on Friday night, and learned of the shooting on Saturday along with other teammates. He said the last time he saw Burress was "that afternoon [Friday], right after practice."
Asked if he would say where he was Friday night, Ward said: "It doesn't really matter where I was. It just matters that I wasn't with them."
The case drew the wrath of Mayor Michael Bloomberg, who has waged a long fight against illegal guns during his time in office. He called for a full prosecution of state law that requires mandatory prison for carrying a loaded handgun.
"I don't think anybody should be exempt from that, and I think it would be an outrage if we didn't prosecute to the fullest extent of the law, particularly people who live in the public domain, make their living because of their visibility -- they're the role models for our kids," Bloomberg said.
He also lashed out at the hospital, based on the allegation that officials may not have properly reported the shooting.
"It's just an outrage that the hospital didn't do what they were legally required to do. It's a misdemeanor, it's a chargeable offense, and I think the district attorney should certainly go after the management of this hospital. The lame excuse that they didn't know -- this is a world-class hospital," he said.
A call to the hospital seeking comment was not immediately returned.
Brafman refused to respond to media reports about an alleged coverup, other than to say: "I think a lot of what's been in the press is not accurate."
Brafman said Burress is feeling OK.
"If they let him play, he will be able to play," Brafman said. "I think he will be a superstar for the rest of his career."
"My hope is that it plays out well and he can continue his career, because he's a good person I think, with a brilliant athletic career. And it would be a terrible sadness if an isolated incident could ruin a life," Brafman said.
The NFL is monitoring the case.
"This is a law enforcement matter and we are continuing to cooperate fully with the police," league spokesman Greg Aiello said in a statement. "In addition, it will be reviewed under our league policies."
Brafman met with Burress for about an hour Sunday at the player's home in New Jersey.
"I would ask that his fans, the Giants and the media withhold judgment in this matter until all of the facts have been disclosed," Brafman said in an earlier e-mail to the AP.
Brafman is a well-known criminal lawyer who has defended mobsters and other high-profile figures, including hip-hop impresario Sean "Diddy" Combs on a bribery and gun possession charge in 2001.
Giants running back Brandon Jacobs said he spoke to Burress on the phone after Sunday's game.
"I called him and made a few jokes about the situation and his laugh is what I wanted to hear," Jacobs said, according to Newsday. "If he didn't laugh I knew he was going to be down, which he shouldn't be down. It's a mistake that happened, something that shouldn't have happened and that's that."
Before the shooting, Burress already had been ruled out of the game because of a leg injury.
Giants coach Tom Coughlin said he spoke to his players about Burress' situation but wouldn't get into specifics.
"We all are upset about what happened with Plaxico, and hopefully he's going to be fine and so on and so forth. That's our first concern," Coughlin said. "Once that was taken care of, we knew that he was OK, then the guys got right back to focusing on the reason we were here."
Coughlin wouldn't address Burress' future with the Giants, saying only, "Questions of that nature will be discussed going forward, I'm sure."
The team is considering placing Burress on the non-football injury reserved list, which would make him ineligible for the remainder of the season, sources told Mortensen. It also would allow the Giants to recover some money already paid to Burress.
Additionally, a source told Mortensen that Burress has as much as $4.5 million tied to play-time incentives and active-roster status.
Burress caught the go-ahead touchdown pass in the Giants' Super Bowl victory against the New England Patriots in February, following a regular season in which he scored a career-high 12 TDs. He was rewarded with a $35 million, five-year contract, only hours before the current season.
Burress has 35 catches for 454 yards and four touchdowns while constantly drawing double coverage this season.
"I don't think people understand how good of a person he really is," fellow receiver Amani Toomer said after catching a 40-yard touchdown pass in the Giants' victory Sunday. "A good heart. I think he's a good guy."

if Bloomberg is getting in on it, jail time for Plax looks almost inevitable now. i don't think he'll get the 15-year max though, maybe the 3.5 minimum. he's pleading not guilty, but we don't know how Plax will try to plead. maybe he'll say he wasn't aware of the gun laws in NYC and forgot that his Florida license had expired, but that's gonna be a weak argument and i don't see any NYC judge buying it since ignorance of the law is no excuse and he should be more attentative to the expiration dates of his licenses. he might also say he was feeling threatened since he's a high-profile personality who could be a target for angry fans of opposing teams, which makes him look more sympathetic. whatever happens, things obviously ain't looking good for him.

First off, I agree. Bloomberg is an annoying, self important, change the rule to fit me, rich, arrogant man.
Everything I've heard says the gun was not registered in NY, whether or not he bought it in a Wal-mart or on the street it is still illegal to carry said weapon into a night club in Manhattan. Firing a weapon in NYC is a commission of a crime as much as I disagree with that having to spend so much time in the 100's. What if he accidentally shot someone else. Say Antonio Pierce? Something that could actually effect the Giants repeating? Fuck Plax. He's a problem. Go to jail. We will feel it on the field but will be better off without him in the long run. Shockey, Barber etc.
Yeah, I'm not saying carrying to the "club" wasn't a criminal act in and of itself but let's not make him out to be O.J. Simpson going to get his memorabilia back. That's all I'm sayin' really.

But when he says he doesn't have to show up for meetings, or is late for practice without calling and just says just fine me that attitude is me first and fuck everybody else. All the fines and whatnot are where/why I wouldn't be surprised if Dopey had played his last down with the Giants. He's got a roster bonus due a week from tomorrow (Dec. 10th) of $1 million. If they put him on the non-football injury list, I think that would prevent him from getting it. I didn't hear/see what Bloomberg said, but I heard Skip Assholeface on ESPN's reaction and he though Bloomberg was wrong.
One other thing that pisses me off about this is everyone is calling it a shooting. A shooting is "I'm aiming/pointing this thing at you and firing." This is an accidental discharge if I've ever heard of one. He was trying to unload the weapon, dropped it like it was a pass on 3rd & 15, and it wound up going off. Asshats. So what would have happened if when he dropped the gun it shot some innocent person in the head and killed them? Would that make the gun anymore illegal?
The Reg of the gun was up, there is a no-carry in NYC law. I think Bloomberg is an ass too but with cops and kids getting shot all the time, he makes a valid point. Why should Plax skate just cause hes a sports figure and it just so happened that he shot himself?
The reality is that this moron was carrying a gun around illegally with him while he was drinking in a NYC nightclub.

Plaxico Burress' roster spot has already been filled.
The Giants signed DT Leger Douzable off their own practice squad. The 6-4, 305-pound Douzable was an undrafted free agent with the Vikings this season and was cut at the end of training camp. The Giants signed him to their practice squad in September.
The Giants also announced OT Na'Shan Goddard has been signed off their practice squad by the Seahawks. Former Rutgers OL Mike Fladell and WR Micah Rucker (Eastern Illinois) were signed. That still leaves a practice squad spot open because the team signed DT Jeremy Clark off its practice squad on Saturday. I was told they had signed CB Travonti Johnson, but I'm not sure why that wasn't announced. I'll check to see what's going on there.

Burress could face 3-1/2 to 15 years in prison if convicted of criminal possession of a weapon, though his lawyers will likely seek a plea bargain with no jail time and the possibility of saving his football career.
According to the New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services, in 2007, 986 people in the city were convicted after initially being arrested on the charge Burress faces. More than half - 446 - walked away with misdemeanors or less.

His Giants career is not necessarily over:
Without going into detail, Reese said the Giants’ front office was on the same page about Burress’s possible future with the Giants — namely that he had one — provided he was not in jail and provided he had a 180-degree attitude adjustment.

Hixon needs to get his head out of his ass, that drop was one of the worse I have seen this season. The game could have been completely different, had he made that catch.

Yeah, the dropped passes really hurt but regardless of that the defense couldn't fucking stop them on third down. And it wasn't just Westbrook either, fucking LJ Smith was baffling them.

The Tom Coughlin Giants have always played better when their backs are against the wall or people are doubting them. All week people were saying "this team handles adversity well, so they will be fine."
In my opinion they bought into that. Didn't come out with the intensity and emotion needed to match the Eagles and their do or die situation and got bitched. They were too full of themselves here and in Cleveland and had their asses handed to them both times.
Now I hope they put their heads on straight and fucking go on a six game winning streak to end the season like they went on a 7 game streak after the Browns game...

I'm a Giants fan and I fucking hate the Jets. There is just something about the team and their fanbase that bugs me. The majority of the time I hate them more than the CowEagleSkins. If they were in the Superbowl with any of those teams I have no idea who I'd want to win. It would be the equivalent of the '86 World Series where my feeble little mind settled on the Red Sox.
That being said, the fact that someone came in here to taunt after their supposed Super Bowl contender lost to the 49ers a week after losing to a piss poor Denver team is pretty sad. Then again, it is the same fanbase that is enthralled that they can spell the team's name. Its the small victories, I guess.

Yeah, they were dominated, by their own miscues. It doesn't matter, the Iggles aren't going anywhere. :D
I would like to respectfully disagree with you, sir. If the Eagles run the table, and the Falcons lose one game, then we are going to the playoffs.
Of course a little help might be nice from the Giants, if they can take care of the Cowpussies next week.

Its the small victories, I guess.
maybe it's your devils fan mentality of having to hate the big team down the block, but you're a giants fan, there is no reason to hate the jets. Even as a yanks fan i don't hate the mets, who cares, different division, different league. Plus most jets fans come from giants fans that couldn't get tickets back in the day anyway.

This is the first time the Giants have won two division titles in a 4-year span since Fassel's guys won in 1997 & 2000. And this is the first time in franchise history that the Giants have made the postseason four consecutive seasons.
and apparently Jacobs & Ross are both okay. Jacobs' was just the knee that he banged up as per usual and Ross's x-rays came up negative
Ronreddog
12-08-2008, 10:54 AM
Well the Giants Time of Possesion was 38 seconds. That's being pretty dominated.
The total Time of Possession was this:
Time of Possession Iggles 34:54 Giants 25:06
Yes, they did dominate the second half, again, because the Giants' defense was inept, not because the Iggles offense was stellar.
This is where the Giants also lost the game:
Total net yards Iggles 331 Giants 211
No offensive flow, and 4 to 5 dropped passes = Loss
I would like to respectfully disagree with you, sir. If the Eagles run the table, and the Falcons lose one game, then we are going to the playoffs.
Good luck with that. I don't see it happening.

Jacobs may need (choose) to sit on Sunday night (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2008/12/jacobs-may-need-to-rest-sunday.html)
Brandon Jacobs knows the Giants have a big game Sunday night, but he also knows they’ll soon have games that are even bigger. That’s why he and the Giants are being cautious and there’s a good chance he won’t play against the Dallas Cowboys.
Jacobs, who missed practice with an injured left knee, admitted “It’s definitely a tough call” whether he should play Sunday night. He wants to play, but he also doesn’t want to make his knee injury any worse. It’s been lingering since he first hurt it on Oct. 5 against Seattle, and he said “Me going out and playing on it for (eight of the last nine) weeks didn’t make it any better.”
In fact, he said, the pain he felt when he fell on it on Sunday was the worst he’s felt in the knee yet.
“I took a hard fall on it and hurt it a little more than anything else that had happened, but I’m nursing it and doing the best I can,” he said. “I have no idea what’s going on about Sunday. I wish I can be out there. But we’ve got a nice playoff run that we need to make coming up. I want to be healthy for that.”
Tom Coughlin said “We will do the smart thing (with Jacobs), the thing which is medically recommended.”
Considering that the Giants are 11-2, have a playoff spot, the NFC East, and at least one home game already wrapped up, and need only one more win in their final three games to secure a bye, the smart thing might be to rest Jacobs on Sunday night - especially given the Giants’ bad history with injuries on the unforgiving Texas Stadium turf. Also, they have a huge game coming up the following week, on Dec. 21 vs. Carolina - a game which will likely determine home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Plus, a week off might make Jacobs feel a little healthier once the playoffs start.
“Rest would make it a lot better,” Jacobs said. “But I want to be out there. It’s the Dallas Cowboys. Who doesn’t want to play against them guys? I want to be out there, but I need to be healthy, too.”

it also means the Giants’ slumping pass rush now has just six sacks in the last five games. Worse, four of them game in one game against the Washington Redskins. :icon_eek:

Jacobs has a slightly damaged PCL
http://www.newsday.com/sports/football/ny-spglaub115960651dec11,0,7415978.column
Although Jacobs and coach Tom Coughlin have been vague on exactly what the problem is, multiple sources told me yesterday that Jacobs has a slightly damaged posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. It is not expected that he will require offseason surgery; however, the Giants are doing everything possible to make sure the injury doesn't get worse. Thus, the cautious approach for Dallas Week.

Jacobs missed his second consecutive practice Thursday. While he might try to give it a go on Friday, the Giants shouldn't be pushing him. They've already clinched the NFC East and will need Jacobs in Week 16 against Carolina. That game could determine who gets the No. 1 postseason seed in the NFC. Dec. 11 - 12:22 pm et

I sure hope Jacobs' knee is healthy...I'm fine with him sitting out this game against Dallas, but he's may have to get some carries against Carolina. A win this week gets the bye, but I'd much rather have Carolina (or anyone else) come up to NJ in January for the NFC Championship as opposed to having to hit the road. Giants signed CB Corey Webster to a contract extension through 2013. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the deal is worth $43.5 million, including $20 million in guarantees.
This was the last year on Webster's rookie deal, so the extension is five years. Webster, 26, is a physical corner who developed slow initially, but has had only 20% of the passes thrown in his direction completed in 2008. He also has three picks and a league-best 24 pass breakups. Opponents have decided against throwing at him often in the second half of the season.

Highlights from Vacchiano's Blog
• Now that CB Corey Webster has signed a five-year, $43 million contract, I’d make S James Butler my next priority if I were Jerry Reese. Yes, Jacobs is more important, but that’s not likely to get done until after the season anyway. Butler could be a bargain the way he’s playing. He had a fantastic tackle on Marion Barber in the first quarter when he blitzed and was driven to the outside. Somehow, he shed his block just enough to get his right arm out and trip Barber for a 3-yard loss.
• Things I don’t understand, Part II: At the end of the first half, Romo scrambles for three yards to the Cowboys’ 37, setting up a 4th and 7. There are about 20 seconds left on the clock. The Giants have two timeouts yet, but choose to let the clock run out instead. Why not call timeout and force them to punt? Maybe you get a bad snap. Maybe you get a big return. Maybe you get a shanked punt. Any of those could’ve set up a field-goal try. Worst-case scenario, if the punt is deep, you let the Cowboys down it and then take a knee. What’s the risk? That the Cowboys are going to try to run a 4th-and-7 play instead?
• Just so we’re all clear on the postseason scenario: The winner of the Giants-Panthers game Sunday night is the No. 1 seed in the NFC, no matter what happens in Week 17. If the Vikings lose to the Falcons on Sunday afternoon, then the loser of Giants-Panthers will be the 2 seed. But if the Vikings win, then they’ve still got a shot at the 2 if the Panthers beat the Giants (they might have a shot at it the if the Giants win, too, but I don’t know, nor do I care). So if the Vikings win and the Giants lose, then the Week 17 Giants-Vikings game will be a winner-take-all game for a bye.
• I don’t know the answer to this, but I’m going to try to find out: Has any team ever finished an NFL season with 10 straight games against opponents with winning records? I have seen brutal stretches before, but nothing like this. The Giants are 6-2 so far in that stretch, which is unbelievably impressive. They’ve earned every bit of their 11-3 record so far. And I guess if they’re going to get that 12th win and a bye, they’re going to have to earn that, too.
oh, and Jacobs says he's playing (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2008/12/jacobs-im-playing.html)

You were at the game? Tough one to be at. Offense couldn't move the ball worth shit and the defense which played well all game couldn't get off the field when they needed to at the end.
I went one year to that piece of shit stadium a couple of years ago. It was weirdest thing. It reminded me of a movie set. The outside/Concourse/batrooms, etc... of that stadium is the biggest piece of shit you have ever seen. Yet inside it looks cool. They pump in music to hype the crowd which is annoying and the scoreboard and teletron are ancient. The one thing I was pleasantly surprised with is Dallas fans in Dallas are 100% more tolerable than 70's and 90's bandwagon Dallas fans from anywhere else in this country.
I think and have always thought that this Giants team play best when their backs are against the walls. This week that is the case. If they lose to Carolina they potentially could look at playing a week 1 playoff game. Or they can win a fucking home game and take the next 3 weeks off. That is motivation for anybody.

and just like that, the Horn saga is over, as the Giants did not sign him. They did, however, sign LB Nate Harris

a win on Sunday and we can treat the last game of the year as a bye, so the answer is yes! :action-sm

From Vacchianno's blog:
All hands on deck for NFC showdown (http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/giants/2008/12/all-hands-on-deck-for-nfc-show.html)
UPDATE, 12:04 p.m.: The Giants’ practice today inside the bubble is well-attended again. The only player riding the excerise bike in the “rehab” area is LB Gerris Wilkinson. Everybody else is on the field and participating at least on a limited basis.
It’s a amazing what a big game late in the season can do to get people out of the trainers’ room.
Apparently it worked for everybody LB Gerris Wilkinson (knee) yesterday, as all the other injured Giants returned to practice on at least a limited basis. It seems everybody wants to play against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday night.
I’ll give you another update after practice later today, but just to catch you up from yesterday …
RB Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), S Kenny Phillips (concussion) and G Rich Seubert (illness) all practiced for the second straight day.
RB Brandon Jacobs (knee), RT Kareem McKenzie (back), and DE Justin Tuck (lower leg) were all limited for the second straight day.
WR Domenik Hixon (ankle/foot), WR Sinorice Moss (calf), DT Fred Robbins (shoulder) and RB Derrick Ward (ankle) all returned to practice and were limited.
There’ll be much more on the injury situation and this game later because, much like a mailman, neither rain nor snow nor lots of snow and sleet and more snow and … well, you get the idea …

Giants threatening here. they need another touchdown if they hope to...
nevermind, a pass to Boss for the touchdown. they're back in this one, if the defense can keep holding Delhomme of course.
I don't get the not going for 2 thing. A field goal still puts you ahead if you don't make it.

i was hoping they'd go for 2 also. at least if they make the 2, it's a tie game. but whether they get the 2 or not, they will still need at least a field goal to go ahead. what did they have to lose?

and the defense forgets how to tackle. and now we're back to an 8-point game.

yeah, the defense has issues tonight with illness and injury too and the lackluster tackling isn't helping. I'm just happy to see them moving the football on the ground and Eli spreading it around a little now. They've scored more points than the last 2 games combined

Giants in the red zone again, but time's running out. think they'll actually go for the two-point conversion this time?
pass interference against the Panthers. 1st and goal, and Jacobs plows through.

Ugh, I'm really getting sick of Madden. How many more years can this babbling codger keep doing games? At least the past number of years we've been able to get rid of him after Wild Card Weekend but now we are going to be stuck with him during the Super Bowl as well.
He seriously called the two-point conversion attempt a big play. No shit, asshole!

well we got it. Eli just needs to march down the field here and put this one away, or get deep enough into field goal range so Carney has an easy shot.
