In these trying times, most of us can agree on good music. So here's to the guys from the Great White North. Geddy, Alex, and Neil. Thank you for the music.

Well I couldn't find it for some reason. Let's have someone else find it and then merge the two.

Cmon.
I hate unionized trees...
There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.
There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

I've seen Queensryche 21 times and right behind it is RUSH with 19. Always a great show.

I can play a lot of Geddy's material on bass and keys, I used to be in a Rush tribute band but it's been a long time since we got together...people having babies always puts a cramp on being in a band.:)
My friend Dave in high school got into Rush and made me some mix tapes. I wasn't familiar with them. I think the first Rush song that really got me hooked was the live version of 2112 from All The World's A Stage. And then I rented the 'Through the Camera Eye' video and got those songs in my head. And my enthusiasm for the band just kinda took off and I was that douchey annoying uber-fan for a number of years that now makes me a little embarrassed in hindsight.
I still love the band, seen them every tour since Roll The Bones, but my passion for them leveled off about 10 years ago and I've moved on to other bands to get into. You can't have just one band for breakfast lunch and dinner. Right after Test For Echo, which was OK, I just started to lose the excitement and the horribly produced Vapor Trails and boring follow up Snakes and Arrows did me no favors either. My heros were no longer infallable.
That being said, three of my favorite albums are Fly By Night, Grace Under Pressure and Presto. It's mostly all good actually, some I just like better than others. I literally can't listen to Vapor Trails without getting a headache, Signals is dull, Power Widows is overproduced and souless and I hate Snakes and Arrows for the most part. Geddy can't compose a good melody anymore or sing very well and Alex's overuse of guitar layers makes the sound too muddy.
Favorite songs: Anthem, Cygnus X-1, La Villa, Afterimage, Presto, Superconductor, How It Is

I don't know why but Presto is probably my favorite album behind Hemispheres. Where do you live?

..that most Rush fans either really love or really hate. The band themselves don't like it too much, Geddy has said that of all their material they wish they could re-record, that one would be it. The only major knock on it is how thin and tinny it sounds production wise, but that's a result of the guitar sound Alex was using and they were trying to strip down the sound from the keyboard synth overload of the previous two albums. Plus Rupert Hine produced it and was more famillar with working with techno bands than hard rock bands.
Really, the only song on it that totally sucks is Red Tide. Everything else is good...Neils lyrics and Geddy's singing are some of the best they've ever done in their career IMO.

I've been saying it for 15 years or so, but I think "counterparts" is their most under rated cd by far. I think it's there best post moving pictures album and most people kinda forgot about it.
go ahead and listen to it and listen to it loud. this album just rocks and even GROOVES a little (at least for rush).

I have very strong memories of Counterparts....it came out the fall of my senior year in high school and me and another guy went after school to excitedly buy it. Pearl Jam also had a CD out that day. I was so jazzed listening to the radio premere the night before, I have it on tape somewhere.
I don't like a lot of the lyrics, but the mix and production are really good. It's bold, loud and in your face without being overbearing and too distorted like parts of Test For Echo and all of Vapor Trails

I think they just released a DVD of their last tour. Support the band and buy it. God knows why they were not nominated for the RRHOF. If Metallica deserves it, then so does Rush.

Jann Werner will not induct anyone into the R&RHOF unless your name is Patty Smith and/or Iggy Pop. Typical elitist hipster.

Not much of a hipster considering who he has let in, hes just a douche, there are plenty of bands that deserve to be let in on influence alone.
Saw rush at red rocks a couple years ago, best concert I have ever seen, I have some pictures somewhere, if I can find them I will post them later.

RUSH never gets the credit they deserve from the " MAIN STREAM" .
Lasting power
Musicianship
They not only are one of the best trios in the world... They are Ironmen of the stage 30 years.... thats un heard of in R&R.
Check your ego at the door and welcome three humble masters of music.
