http://www.theclashonline.com/sites/theclash/files/imagecache/discography_large/sites/theclash/files/albums/Clash_Shea_cover.jpg i am so psyched about this record.I was there as a lil' stoned out kid. .I lost all the people i was with so i found a seat up front and stayed there. The asshole in front of me were heckling the Clash and Clash fans till the Dudes behind me,New York City's own Hell's Angles, beat the shit out of them.Crazy fucking night for a 13 year old.The dudes i lost earlier that knight saw a stabbing...Well awayway here is that show from that night.Rocktober 13th,1982 ..................Back in 82 I waited 9 hours in line to get tickets to see The Who at Shea. By the time we got to the front of the line Oct 12 was sold out so we got tickets to see them Oct 13. They were pretty crappy seats, nosebleed. My friend and I got there during the middle of David Johansens set. Now at the time since I was only 17 I didn't pay too much attention to who the opening acts were. I have to admit that I was one of the stupid idiots who were booing the Clash to get off so The Who would come on. Years later when I started listening to The Clash and realized how good they really were I wish I had paid more attention to them. I bought The Who's Last ( Live at Shea) album a few years later and realized how underwhelming there show had really been. Again what does a 17 year old know?

Listening to The Clash finally Live in all of there majesty and what I missed at that show is just amazing. I can totally understand why The Who had them on. It was a passing of the torch moment. probably an even bigger if less noticed passing like when The Police passed the torch to U2. I think if The Clash hadn't imploded they may have been even bigger than U2 is today??? Maybe? Anyway.

I've been listening to this pure joy of power a week before it comes out on Vh1 The Leak. Now I'm not going to try to disseminate this product. (It's fantastic) But I will point out just 2 things. All of the songs soung great and the production is spectacular. I love this live version of Rock the Casbah. I always thought RTC was just a little commercial, but this version sounds pure punk raw!! And when Joe Strummer rants on the crowd after Clampdown I feel like it's the first time anyone ever gave me the finger where I really deserved it!!

Well 17 is 43 now, Joe Strummer is gone and there tearing down Shea soon. But I'll always have my memory and ticketstub for Oct 13,1982 Now 26 years later I have another great addition to the memory of that great day!!!!.

The Clash is one of the bands I wish i could have seen live. I was too young to realize what they were in the late 70's and early 80's. Noe I listen to them more than the new bullshit those young emo fucks are calling music.

I saw the Clash open for the Who along with Santana at the old JFK Stadium in Philly back in 1982, they were great.

I saw them at the Providence Civic Center on that tour. They were fucking great.
The opening act, Burning Spear, not so much.

The Clash Loved NYC........

Oh yeah. Their time at Bond's and the exposure to early hiphop really shaped their sound from Sandanista onward.

The only band that matters

I find it odd to see some conservatives posting here that they love the clash.
do you even listen to the lyrics?
How can you love a band that wears its politics on their sleeves like the Clash, and then in every other thread bash liberals who voice the same views as joe strummer?
His views were completely opposite of yours.

You can rest assure there are no hank williams jr albums in my collection

Why do we love The Clash? Because:
A) you liberals put entirely too much stock in your stereotypes of us. You need to get over that. Seriously. It's childish. And
B) (To paraphrase a famous quote) Any man who is not a liberal at 18 has no heart; any man who is still a liberal at 30 has no brain.

White riot - a riot of my own :action-sm
