All of my top albums would come from the grunge and nu-metal era.

Kind of tough for me to put a Venom album up there because they really did suck. There was always a highlight here and there, Black Metal and Welcome to Hell were solid, actually the last cd they put out Metal Black was really fucking good......With all that being said I remember an interview with Kronos (Cronos) saying that Venom's sound should be compared with a brick being tossed and I always thought that was a good comparison.
With that being said "Countess Bathory" is easliy one of my favorite tracks of all time.

The only Venom I really ever liked was "At War With Satan". A 20 minute epic with D&D lyrics and an album cover that looked like an ancient book. I still have that on vinyl.

Almost impossible to make a top 10 with all the great classic metal albums that have been released. I know Im gonna wanna take things off this list and put other things in the minute I hit submit, but fuck it.
Entombed - Clandestine
Carcass - Any album except Swansong
Death - Scream Bloody Gore
Megadeath - Peace Sells
Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse
Testament - The Legacy
Megadeth - Kill Em All
Overkill - Years Of Decay
Nuclear Assault - Survive
Hypocrisy - Abducted
Gotta give some love to M.O.D. - USA for MOD because its such a classic piece of crossover. Probably the creme of the crop when it comes to punk/hardcore/thrash crossover albums. Too bad every other album they did sucked hard dick.

The thing you're missing is that they were SUPPOSED to be bad. Super fast guitars and playing scales isn't what makes music good. After all if musical skill made great music, Steve Vai would be the biggest rock star in the world.
Venom broke things down to their most basic, which was refreshing in the days of Van Halen and all that shit.

The best part is when he beats the fan in the head with the mic before they pull him out of the crowd.

Don - I totally understand that. Trust me I am the farthest thing from a metal snob and I do have a ton of respect for Venom. Without sounding like a dick, they were revoltionaries.
They gave you a wall of sound with a fucked up message and horrific vocals. Yet somehow it all worked together.
Witching Hour, Countess Bathory, Welcome to Hell, great shit. I actually need to see if there has ever been a tribute to Venom CD. That could be great....
