I don't mean worst because obviously there are going to be opening acts that suck. I want to know what band you were looking forward to seeing and were really disappointed by.

For me it was Filter on the Family Values Tour in I believe 99. They brought no energy to the table and were really phoning it it. they were one of the acts on the bill that I was really excited to see and really were a let down.

A drunken Aerosmith in the 80's.... to wasted to sing or play music.

Priest/ megadeth//// megadeth was to low and priest was to loud.

Ac/Dc just boring in general .

Alice in Chains with the new black guy singer.... just wasnt the same without Layne.

Lalapalooza 97 was one of the best ever and the worst ever.

Sitting around for 9 hours, listening to terrible bands no one has ever heard of. Korn was a no show. (It was supposed to be my first time to see them) Then Snoop killed it, so did Tool and so did the Prodigy.

I don't want to point any fingers...but ALLEGEDLY richard patrick had a lil' substance use issue at that time...and was constantly fucked up and brought nothing to the stage. I did a few shows around that time (filming shows) and we were filming a show and he made had security pull us from the stage area as we were filming because he forgot that we were supposed to be filming...After he apologized and offered to let us film his next show...in another state...yeah..ok..

Worst show i ever PAID to see was..ahem...No doubt/blink 182 a few years ago at the Tweeter/Greatwoods in Mansfield Ma. No doubt was ok (wife wanted to see them) and I was ok with that as I was going to get to see blink 182...yea except they were for some reason irritated that when you co-headline with no doubt the entire crowd isn't going to be punk fans...So they just started swearing, talking about fucking your mom "Ask your dad if he likes to fuck your mom's cunt" and then they would play songs all out of tune w/ guitar, drums bass and vocals all on a different tempo. It was so fucking awful i left after 3 songs...

Megadeth - December 1997. There was an awesome lineup put together by a local radio station as a "Nightmare Before Christmas" concert (or something lame like that). Megadeth was not bad, but really not all that great. They had absolutely NO stage presence.

The rest of the show was really goddamn good, though, so I don't know if that counts. Jackyl totally owned the arena, and I hated them up until then.

Along the same lines, I saw Kiss with Aerosmith a couple years back, and while Kiss was good, Aerosmith blew. I'm sure the rest of the crowd loved it and all, but I fell asleep at one point. It seemed like they were preoccupied with costume changes, as Joe Perry changed clothes 5 times.

I saw the Black Crowes when they toured with Oasis in 2001. I went to the concert looking forward to the Crowes and figuring I'd be able to tolerate Oasis, who I only knew at the time because of Champagne Supernova.

Oasis kicked ass and are now one of my favorite bands. The Black Crowes - worst...concert....ever. They didn't play even one song that had ever been played on the radio, at least while we stayed. Chris Robinson was so drugged up and incoherent we didn't even bother staying for the whole thing. Terrible, terrible performance of a terrible, 'Fuck you to the fans' set list. Apparantly we missed a jam featuring both bands at the end of the night, but who cares.

megadeth with flotsam and jetsam and another band I think I remember as saxon and korn. Korn got booed off the stage and megadeth played for 45 minutes and weren't really into it. why would they have a wigger band with those other three. this was in fresno ca and korn is from bakersfield and I think they put them on thinking they would get accepted since they were kind of local. F&J were good tho.

notice a trend here? megadeth has let a lot of people down. For a lazy pinko, mustane can sure play the geeetar good.

another one I remember was in the late 70's was ac/dc opening up for either kiss or aerosmith and the got booed so bad with shoes thrown at them and they said they would never come back to fresno and they never have.

A lot of really pissed people.. made worse by the fact that everyone was drinking pretty heavily in the parking lot. Porta Potties were getting pushed over, fights, and stuff set on fire, then the state Police show up and it almost turned into a riot.

Megadeth opening for Motley in I think 99 or 2000. They were depressingly bad.

I've seen Reel Big Fish 3 times in various spots. Some how, as a ska band, they were fucking boring.

NIN the night that Revenge of the Sith opened was surprisingly bleh. The sound was off and the crowd sucked. The next night more than made up for it though.

Bowie when he toured for Outside with NIN. He ONLY played stuff from that album.

Megadeth are pretty awful live...there new lineup on gigantour 2 was pretty good...but the first time I saw them I couldnt hear anything...Dave sounded like garbage.

I'd have to say some of the worst concerts ever to me were a bunch of free nu metal shows I went to...one of my friends liked Korn, Disturbed and Limp bIZKIT Back in highschool...Got to go with him for free...And Korn puts on a good show but the other bands were horrid. Mudvayne opened and I would've rather been dead, Limp Bizkit was one big trend fest...every kid dressed in Jenco jeans with chain wallets just fake moshing and jumping up and down...Didn't help that the music is fucking atrocious as well.

Yeah I kind of missed the topic subject....For worst concert that I was looking foward to, probably Iron Maiden during the 2006 Matter of life and Death tour. They played that WHOLE entire album...from start to finish, I don't mind the album but live? The first 3 songs the crowd was into it by the 4th 5th song and when people realized they were playing the whole album, btw 90% of the people that see them don't know anything but the hits so the whole arena had no energy as they blasted away through all 10 new songs...They even sounded bored. After about the 7th song the whole crowd was sitting down talking lol. But they decided after the album to play 2 or 3 classics and run off stage. I couldve stayed home and jerked off and had a better time. And I got a FLAT TIRE!

OoOOOooOOOOo... Orgy at Caine's outdoor theater in Tulsa in 99 or 00. It was the middle of August and it rained. They didn't get on until around 1130. Because of curfew they couldn't play a whole show. The sound was soooo terrible that you could hear all the people singing besides you as the lame mosh pits blew up everywhere.

What did I expect? It was Orgy.

Nevermore. It was my second time seeing them and they were great the first time. However, this time Warrel Dane was either high or drunk and he was just a mess on stage. They played the whole Dreaming Neon Black album, which I love, but nobody wants to hear a whole album being played. Warrel bumped into his bass player and got some of his hair caught in the head of bass. Then they did the "Battle Angels" encore, and Warrel had this guy sing a part of the song and the guy sounded better than Warrel.

Nevermore did make up for the this performance, when I saw them a 3rd time.

Another would be the two times I saw Rage Against the Machine and the Wutang Clan. Its hard to listen to Wutang Clan, when you got 9 motherfuckers rapping at the same time. The when a song starts up and just as you're getting into it, they start doing another song.

I'm suprised by so many Megadeth stories. The two times I saw them, they played really well.

Between the Burried and Me/the Red Chord. Great bands. Just so happened to be at a terrible venue. The Chameleon Club in Harrisburg, PA. Last August.

Now I hadn't been to that part of PA in years. Fuck I hadn't been to PA in about eight years. Anyway, I was just down there to my best friend's twenty-fourth. He's from Baltimore and major metalhead. So I wanted to drive him up to the show. He was more excited obviously than me for these two bands. So we go eventually find the place after driving all around Lancaster/Harrisburg (Again...I'm not familiar with the area) and the Chameleon Club is this little shitbox of a venue. It looks like it should be shut down for all reason. It was 18+. But we were both well over twenty-one. My friend forgot to renew his license, so they let him in, but the bouncer would not allow him to drink. I tried talking to the two asshole bouncers, saying "Guys, can't you just take his word that he's twenty-four? This is his birthday for christ sake." And the idiot fat fuck in his Steeler hat was like "Sorry, he's from Maryland. Out-of-state. And you can call a lawyer if you want but we'll just say that he didn't have a renewed licesnce. PA law. No excuses."

We then go upstairs to see the show. My boy goes back and meets with the singer for Red Chord. Guy. He tried talking to the guys downstairs and they wouldn't budge. So the set was shortened because the Club has strict curfew laws. This was around eight-fifty-nine. They played one last show and then we just got up and left. On the way out, these FSU type Bouncers come up to my friend as he is walking out. They grab him and just throw him out on the street. I said "what the fuck did he do?" They didn't answer as they told him to not come back. I then said "Is this how you treat concert goers who are just here to have a good time?" One of the idiots said "I don't care. I'm making a judgement call. Even though he might've not been drinking, he is still abusing his privleges tonight. I'm sorry but YOU can come back, but your friend is banned for life. If you don't leave (to my friend) we will just call the Police. Okay? You lost the privelge?"
I then go, well I'm not coming back either. The bouncer was like "Well that's up to you. But thank you and have a good night gentlemen."

We then went into Baltimore for some good drinks. Jack was more bitter about it understandably. But he eventually did move on.

Its a toss up between a Cold show and a Hed PE show.

At the Cold show we stood outside in 20 degree and windy weather. We finally get inside. The opening band was a no show, so instead of Cold stepping up and playing a bit more, it was basically. "Hello everybody we're Cold!! *GUITAR CHORD* "Thank you, we're Cold. Goodnight!"

At the Hed PE show we had to sit through 5 opening acts that no one cared about. When Hed PE came out they would play a song and then the lead singer would spend 5 minutes talking about pot and his political beliefs. SHUT THE FUCK UP AND PLAY A SONG. We got up and left after 3 songs.

I've been to so many shows over the years that I'm sure I'm forgetting a bunch, but I've had two over the last couple of years and both involved scott weiland.

The first was I think two years ago when AIC and Velevet Revolver played Jones Beach. Unlike a previous poster stated, I thought AIC rocked. Maybe because I had no exprections.

VR on the other hand sucked moose balls. No energy, no vibe. Just dull. Scott was fine actually. It was the band/music that blew. Maybe it's drummer Matt Sorum. A couple of weeks later I was watching a recent Cult show on tv with him playing drums, and it had the same vibe.

The other show was this year's STP fiasco at PNC. They went on an hour and half late and there was no flow to the show. It was like they were just picking songs as they went along. Unlike the VR show, the band played well. The set was just very disjointed.

jay black and the americans, he can't hit the high notes anymore...what?

i was at that vr/aic show also at jones beach, aic was awesome again (2nd time i saw them that year) but they only played like 10 or 11 songs. Kill Hannah was a joke. This is my take on VR or maybe on the Weiland version of VR.

They think they are bigger then they are. In their minds they took this monstrous band Guns N' Roses and this mega band STP and mashed them together. They are good but they give off this vibe that they are better then they really are. The first time I saw them was at KROCK's clause fest a few years back. That is my winner for worst show ive ever seen. Chevelle, Jimmy Eat World, Papa Roach, Franz Ferdinand (got booed off the stage so it was worth going), Korn was way better then i expected, im not much of a Korn fan but they were good. VR closed the show but since everyone was there for Korn they played to a 40% of the crowd. After they played It's So Easy, another 20% left. I thought they were ok but no one cared and the whole time Scott was going on like they were the greatest thing ever and you are so lucky that you came to see them.

At the Jones Beach show it just seemed like it went on FOREVER. They sounded good, the songs are good but they played every song. Both albums, 3 GNR, 3 STP songs. It was just way too much.

They probably played for 2 hours but i think after so many songs it feels like 4 hours. You see a band like metallica or maiden, the songs are longer so they play less songs but the show is still 2 hours but it doesn't feel like 2 hours. They leave you wanting more.

my most disappointing show ive been to was Iron Maiden for the Matter of Life & Death Tour. Disappointed at the fans, not the band. I love when an older band comes out with a new album and actually plays it live since that is the point of doing shows to promote your new album. They were amazing, the new album was great, sounded great live, 5 classics the close out were great. However the crowd at Nassau booed and chanted for Judas Priest. I was embarrassed to be an american metal fan that night.

I didn't because I was at the Philly no show and had a good time. I was half expecting the riot, I got my money back, and the fact that I called an ex in the midst of it got me back together with her(short version of the story, went out the night before Thanksgiving, she was showing up later and I wound up making out with some other girl the whole night...we dated for probably another 4 months after that).

Entertaining as usual, and with Sleazy P Martini back for the tour they played Slaughterama as part of the encore. The story of the show was GWAR throwing out the US election process and making the holders of their wrestling title belts the leaders of the world. Oderous and Bone Snapper fought Obama, McCain, and Hillary, killing them all in various ways. Then they fought Bozo Destructo and Sawborg Destructo as the finale. Good times. I still miss Slymenstra. It's just not the same without her.

Las Vegas August 2001. I was seventeen and I was with my family staying at the New York, New York. We wanted to do something nice for my Dad. We bought tickets for all of us to see the NEW Coasters, Martha and the NEW Vandellas, and the eternal Platters. The venue had to be thirty people, and the old people were all still fifties teenagers at heart. So, with Martha and the Valdellas being from the sixties, the bill made sense to me. She came out and tried to energize the old people and she couldn't. My Dad enjoyed it though, though she really wasn't his thing.

Then the Coasters came out and every one in the group is new. No original lineup. They came out and did Love Potion #9. The one that was covered by white guys, which went to #1 and these guys didn't even see a penny. THEN....they broke out their new smash hit...LOVE POTION #10. "Wez not N'Sync o' da Backstreet Boyz oz anything. Wez the real deal guys." And I was so horrified. My Sister who was fifteen at the time, looked at each other and sulked. My Dad loved it again, this was more his forte.

Then...the Main Act...the Platters. All of the original members were there in spirit, since they're dead. So for some reason, I looked at father and he had this gleam in his eye because he's one of those fifties teenagers who grew up on the music, and he didn't care that all the original members were dead and these were stand ins. He was just happy to be there and hear the songs.

So it was more or so something nice for my father.

Back in the late 90's, the first ever "March Metal Meltdown" in NJ. This was supposed to be a three stage, festival in Asbury Park. I went on the saturday. I remember the big acts were Dimmu Borgir, Hypocrisy, Iced Earth, Earth Crisis.

The place SUCKS. Asbury Park is an absolute shithole. The apocolypse already happened, and it happened to Asbury Park. When you try by a rotting stocco of a clown face, it's time to hit the road. Anyways, the venue was a peace of shit. The main stage had the WORST sound set-up ever! The second stage was next to the vendor ally, and since it was just a wide open space, the sound just didn't fill it or have any impact at all. The third stage had seating, and was just craptastic.

One supposed "attraction" was porn star Jasmine SinClaire. This was probably at the height of her popularity, right after she did the gangbang, and was on Stern a bunch, but right before she decided to retire. Now, if you put a porn star on stage in front of a bunch of drunk metal heads... They are going to chant "show your tits", so basically, quick flash and be done with it. Anyways, she said, "I'm not here to show my tits..." which got her booed off the stage.

Anyways, Hypocrisy's second guitarist got food poisoning, so he wasn't there, and Peter tried his best, but everything sounded like crap. He played a short set and ran out.

Dimmu Borgir closed the show and played 2 or 3 songs. There was a curfiew, and the show ran long, so we got screwed out of the headline band. I've seen Dimmu Borgir three times since (once last Friday), and they have been great ever since.

The venue was so bad, none of us wanted to go into the bathroom. After the show, we raced for the NJ turnpike, and the restroom and my five friends and I all peed in unison on the urinals and stalls.

I'm not sure that fest even runs anymore it was such crap.

I went to the one in 2000 and the only thing that had changed, was the city that hosted it. The curfew cut short the sets of Sentenced and Testament. There was a porn star, and I think it may have been Jasmine, but no flashing of the tits. Some stupid band set a table on fire, which set everything back. The venue sucked and it made it impossible to enjoy one band, because you could hear another band playing on the other side of the curtain.

Don't even get me started on the wrestling match they had going on. I went to both days of the festival and they both sucked.

Wow, very suprised to see Opeth mentioned. though not the most mobile / visually appealing bands out there, they sound incredible live. Mikael's in-between song banter is often amusing, too.

Worst shows...wow, I've been pretty lucky to never be flat-out disappointed but some bands have shit the bed when I've seen them live. Some that come to mind.

Alkaline Trio - I've seen them play great, I've seen them play not so great, but the last time I saw them, this summer at Irving Plaza, they were very underwhelming. The mix put the guitar too low and the bass too high. Their set list was too predictable - they have a ton of songs that I love and their choices were too by-the-numbers.

Thursday - A band I have frequently seen level audiences, but I think I've seen them three times when their singer Geoff was sick. Get a fucking immune system!

NOFX - Less talk, more rock!

Nat "King" Cole. February 1965. Cedars Sinai. He was good, but I think he coughed up a lung. Thank goodness for the Beatles. Punching out.

The absolute worst was Ozzfest 2001 when Crazy Town played.

I was a HUGE Deftones fan during the Adrenaline/Around the Fur years and would go to every single show they put on in NYC/NJ/Philly. During a Warped Tour show in Asbury, Deftones kicked major ass but I HATED all 525 other bands that played that day. And it was 120* outside. That sucked. Then I started hooking up with this hot little punk rock girl only to find out from her skinhead older brother later on that day that she was 14 (I was 24)! Yikes!

During a Deftones/Limp Bizkit show at the Electric Factory in Philly me, my buddy, and my girl all broke our noses in the pit.

Sounds of the Underground 2005 had a who's who list of my most favorite bands: Chimaira, Lamb of God, Unearth, Red Chord, A Life Once Lost, All That Remains, Poison the Well... I don't like GWAR's music but their shows are entertaining. Two bands completely sucked the air out of the place. One was Clutch, who I have never been a fan of. The other was Opeth. I have never understood why they are considered so good. I thought they were immensely boring to watch and listen to.

The other day at the Rock & Shock festival in Worcester I was forced to sit through and 1.5 hour set by Children of Bodom who just like Opeth I just don't get. But, I thought Mushroomhead were fantastic and most metalheads hate them so... and at that show Suicide Silence really impressed me, BtB&M were brilliant as always (but sadly no "Alaska", "Selkies", or "Mordecai"), Obituary were better than I thought they'd be, and I missed Carnifex.

I've seen Deftones three times. Once they fuckin rocked the house, but that was sandwiched between two times in which I literally fell asleep during their set.

What they were doing on that tour I'll never understand. The Ramones and Rancid were fun that day, though.

Most disappointing concert I was ever at was back in the early 80s. It was the Black and Blue tour, Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult.

Arrived at the arena for the concert and it wasn't till maybe 30 minutes before show time, they announced that Sabbath wasn't going to be there. There was no word on what happened to Sabbath. They said those who wanted a refund on the tickets had to leave right then and there. Those who stayed would not be entitled to a refund. I stayed. Worst decision I ever made at a concert.

This was in Denver. I can't remember how long after the concert it was known that the tour was cancelled because of Ozzy leaving the band. I never got to see Sabbath with Ozzy, just two times with Dio as the singer and once with Ian Gillan.

Would have to be Styx - Mr. Roboto tour back in the early 80s. Yes I went and yes I was a douche.

I remember seeing a Styx band member being interviewed on a Behind The Music episode on VH1 once where he was describing them being onstage in an early tour date in support of this album and he mentioned "You could feel the hate from the audience wash over the stage when we commenced with the whole Mr. Roboto thing" he went onto say they were in actual fear for their lives up onstage as shouts and objects were thrown at the stage almost continously, as he looks over to see the lead singer in that ambiguously gay robot costume

LOL. I saw them at the Warped Tour in 2002 and they were GREAT! Unfortunately I was so tired of being crammed against doucebags, I missed Bad Religion.

I wasn't really impressed by Slayer or Tool.

WTF, right? It's not that either were bad, but something was off on both accounts. The Slayer show was ok though because Chimaira opened for them and I didn't know they were going to be there. I was a big fan at the time. I wish Tool wouldn't have fucked around with bullshit for 20 minutes between songs... or at least that's how I remember it.

The last show I ever went to was Mortician in '05. I remember thinking "I can do this shit at home" and haven't attended another concert since.

However, I would definitely go to a Pig Destroyer or Frank Black show.

hmm back in 2001 I saw Stabbing Westward play a boring show. The new CD hadnt even come out yet and they played only two old songs. Everyone was not interested at all with the new songs. Plus they played for less than an hour.

Saw 311 a few months ago and it was the first time they had played in Vancouver in many years. I guess I was expecting a longer show cause they only played for an Hour and 15 minutes. With so many albums and me spending over $40 to see them I expect them to play a little bit longer.

For those not liking Opeth, I agree their Sounds of the Underground set was not their best. But their 2 hour +++ headlining shows are some of the best metal shows you will ever witness.

Spin Doctors/ Soul Asylum/ Screaming Trees all on the same bill in Jersey in the 90s (got the tix for free). I was dozing off through most of it (probably just a bad day 4 me that particular day). I think it was GSAC, but I'm not sure, it's been a while.
