I'm looking for a Universal Remote, been looking at Logitech. I'm leaning towards the 890, but been reading some bad reviews about it. If not it then the Harmony One looks a little better, but it'd doesn't have IR.
Recommendations?

I've been using the 550 for a couple years now. Only complaints are that it consumed batteries to the point that I got a set of rechargables just for it, and the screen isnt the easiest to read.
I bought my parents the 880, which addressed both of the issues I had with mine. Both remotes work flawlessly, and are easy as shit to set up.
Granted I'm a casual user, all of my equipment is middle-high end, but the Harmony remotes seem to have all the functionality of a high end learning remote with alot less hassle and cost.

Logitech ONE...I have it...I have had a 560, i have used the 880. I got a One with a discount i had and I love it. Def. Get one that has a cradle charger b/c you will got through batteries fast. The one doesn't have the IR, but I don't need IR. If you need IR then get an IR remote. I find the Harmony One to be more comfortable and balanced in my hand and it has a motion chip so it shuts off when it is at rest for 3 seconds and then turns on when it detect movement.

Honestly there's a bunch of inexpensive solutions to the IR extender/RF anyway on websites like X10.com.
Like I said above, I own the Harmony 550, but I've got my lights and alarm system rigged to work with the Harmony as well, thanks to X10. It's cheap electronics, but pretty open ended as far as what you can do with it.

that 880 is appealing, especially the fact it's half the price of the 890

i have:
the 880 - awesome but i don't like the fact that i always have to hit the help button to get my TV on the correct input.
the one made for the XBOX 360 - my original one. thing works great. no complaints at all concerning this one
the 520 - just like the one for the 360.....fucking awesome, no complaints.
yes i'm an ass and i have 3 different logitech remotes! basically 1 per home theatre in my house

I'm on Newegg right now, the 880 is $177, and it's got a ton of great reviews. The only complaint about it is that it doesn't work with bluetooth (PS3), and it's no touch screen (which I don't care about)

my mom got one about a year and a half ago and it works fine except the charging stand is made poorly. there are threads about this if you search google. I had to take the charging stand apart and do a little modifying on it to get it to charge, otherwise it works great with being able to program it from your comp through USB and all

My main remote for the past few years has been a flying mouse operating operating Windows Media Center. Is there another flying mouse universal remote combination? I still need the TV remote to change inputs, volume control, and turning off the TV.

That sounds like a job for a lower end Harmony. Or just get a higher end Harmony and you'd probably be willing to shitcan WMC as far as your home theater is concerned.

you're never going to finish your basement stupid. you're to fat, lazy and stupid to finish it. I'll just have to keep hearing your girlfriend complain how you'll never finish it.
I was thinking of getting the one the other day.

Silly goose...that is easily correctable in the config screen when you set up the remote. That is one of the great things about the harmony remotes. My samsung HDTV has a ton of inputs and the only way to switch inputs is to cycle through but the harmony knows how to go directly to an input for each device.

i re-did the setup for my 880. it's odd because i have redone it many times and i always had the same problem and now all of a sudden it decided to work properly. i did everything the exact same way i've always done it

Logitech updates the software periodically, adding fixes where they can. Perhaps they gave your 880 a good talking to. Perhaps a bit more than a talking to. Either way, it's been corrrrrrected.
I used to have to sit there an let my Harmony cycle through the inputs on my WEGA, but now that TV has been retired to the bedroom, as my Samsung Series 6 dominates in the living room. No issues, and setting the the remote was a breeze, as always.
Logitech Harmony for life.

you can keep that POS that's $100 more than the 880. The touch screen is too small, the buttons are faggy, and you are a cunt.
Have a nice day stupid:usflag::piss

I have to go get a IR extender so that it'll control the UHF on my sat, and the dongle for the PS3
