The original Fallout 3 was cancelled by Interplay in 2002. The Developers leaked the Internal Van Buren Fallout Tech Demo. It didn't have a lot of clicks and whistles yet, but gave a general idea of what the game would be like. It was basicly the same 45 degree top down view, but it was more 3D and you could spin the view around 360 deg. The fighting wasn't going to be in real time, but it is for the demo.
It is said to be really buggy, but it worked great for me thru the entire demo in windows Vista. You just inzip and run the EXE in the directory. You can get it from this Fallout Fan site or get it from File Planet. Just search for Van Buren Tech demo, or cut and paste the line on the this site.
It seems a bit dated, even for 2002, but I would have bought it.
