There has always been some pretty kick ass tunes on at least one of the channels, at least for today. I agree they need to make the old school rap channel an XL , though. Digging the Alt Nation and Spectrum channels.

But something has to be done about these one band channels. What inspired that crap idea. It's gotta be a tiny niche market for them. Doesn't seem worth it.

Mel s going to turn this into commercial radio w in two years. No ona . no raf. no longform content. censored songs/talk. shitty shallow playlists. almost as many commercials as commercial radio. shitty tech. watch in two years mel will fuck it all.

Yeah I mean don't get me wrong, I'm a hardcore fans of many singers/bands, but even the ones I'm obsessive with, I don't want a whole station devoted to them. I don't find that very exciting....

As far as the other stations I'm glad to see they left all the other rock and pop stations I mainly listen to. I'm just gonna be a confused for a bit with some of the number changes and all that but overall no complaints here so far.

I heard from a fired XM program director that part of their job in the last months were to shrink the playlists to 500 songs. That's all Sirius allows for each channel.

That's just plain ol Communism.

FUck you Sirius XM, this blows. Constant channel loading, everytime I change the channel I have to wait for it to load. Twice today it's lost the fucking channel and gone back to XM Preview. Now you've changed other fucking channel programming, I have to change all of my 30 preset's to something new.

Oh yeah, and not all OEM installed units are updating properly. My wife said the unit in her Audi is not updating properly, every channel takes 30 to 45 sec. to load and some are not loading at all.

Someone shoot this fucking dog.

COMMERCIALS??????????? WHAT THE FUCK, WHY ARE THERE SO MANY GOD DAMN COMMERCIALS FOR OTHER SIRIUS XM CHANNELS?????????? Tried listening to Prime Country, 3 min 40 sec. commercial break for other Sirius XM channels. Damn it, if I wanted 3 fuckign minutes of commercials I would turn on reg. radio.

Customer service should be called customer shit, put on hold for 35 minutes and then hung up on. Called back, put on hold for 10 minutes and disconnected. Finally on the third try, after 19 minutes on hold I was able to register a complaint.

Anyone got "real" Sirius and can verify that Breuer is just off today? He's on the Sirius schedule (http://www.sirius.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Sirius/Page&c=Channel&cid=1104779630869&s=sched), but not on the XM schedule (http://www.xmradio.com/onxm/channelguide.xmc?ch=150) through next Monday. We don't seem to be getting the Wiseguy show either.

Sirius gets Ronnie B.'s Unmasked, though. That's great for Ron!:clap::clap:

Fun fact... Melvin said that advertising revenue from the REAL ADVERTISERS accounted for less than 4% of total revenues. So... not only do you get to suffer through advertisments for WHAT YOU ALREADY PAY FOR, you also get beat over the head with boner cream and gooey, smelly dog pus ads in order that Mel can make some chump change.

OCTANE BLOWS!!!!!! I WANT MY SQUIZZ BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
More and more, this "merger" is looking like it was a last gasp effort for Mel and his crew to retain some sort of relevancy in the entertainment world. I now realoze that despite everyone agreeing that neither company would have survived much longer, IMHO XM would have been fine. It was Sirius that was in real trouble, and Mel Karmazi, like a spoiled baby, simply felt it was time for the ol' "if i cant have it then no one can" game. Now both sat radio companies will be gone, along with any mobile(meaning other than a computer) ability to hear SOME NEW FUCKING GODDAM MUSIC!!!!!!!!!! Even the comedy channels have been taken over by Sirius. Raw Dog comedy?

And I know I'm probably the only one on here livid that The Rhyme is gone, but what's the point of two mainstream rap channels and one non-XL channel but no old school station? This makes absolutely no sense.

Fuck this line up....adding the Elvis channel and taking away the old school rap station is racist....there I said it.

I am so disgusted with this. Squizz is gone; The Rhyme is gone. The Elvis and Grateful Dead stations suck...ditto the Springsteen channel. If it were not for the Virus 202, I would cancel. I can get mainstream rap, edited on two stations in Philly. And WTF is with non XL old school rap? It's just not the same without the cursing. Also one of the new stations (Octane or Friction) has a playlist similar to 104.5.

This blows. :(

Not only has my favorite rock stations been replaced, but the one glimmer of hope I had (Breuer Unleashed) wasn't even fucking on. The only reason at this point to keep SATRAD is for uncensored O&A and R&F. Everything else is basically terrestrial radio. Censored music, commercials inbetween and horrible DJs trying to be hip and fresh.

I didn't have Direct TV, but I understood the importance of it. Same goes for Paltalk, even though some if not most people here hate it. I'm sure that will be gone next. And finally, the last thing to be axed will be CBS. I'm almost certain that Mel or some suit had told them to not "end" the CBS side so that the show sounds like CBS doesn't even exist.

I'm still putting hope out there that something turns around for the better, but if something happens to the bbboys and the buddays, then I won't even think twice about spending 40 minutes on hold for a human being to cancel my accounts.

Tell them that's there's no other show in the lineup that plays the old school west coast tracks. Tell them where you're from and include your name. Request that the show NOT to be terminated.

I love doing the old school west coast show and I hope that you like listening to it. I'd love to continue to do the shows, but I'm gonna need your help convincing the powers that be. By the way, in case you're wondering... this gig is NOT paid. I never did this west coast show for the money. It's all for the love of it!!!

How many "God" radio stations could one listen to?

One is too many. :icon_conf

My parents could listen to them all. The Catholic channel on Saturdays (during college football season) broadcasts all of the Notre Dame games

I turn on XMLM for the first time this morning and fucking Korn is on, followed by something that an emo asshole would consider metal. XM is fucking dead. The boys are the only thing holding me to the service now.

Btw, canceled 4 subs and kept 1. The music quality has also gone downhill. On a good system it sounds anywhere between AM and FM radio.

So, I updated all my presets and gave it over 24 hours, my final opinion; this sucks balls!

My presets includes some of the decade channels and most of the rock channels. Since yesterday morning there been multiple times where I heard the same song across multiple channels. The rest of the time it seems like the music is generic like pop for a particular genre. There is nothing that I'm hearing that makes me think "wow, I haven't heard that in a while." It's regular old terrestrial radio now.

As may have wrote in earlier posts O&A and R&F are the only two shows keeping me sat radio.

I'm now going to go look for my MP3 player and update it.

And I know I'm probably the only one on here livid that The Rhyme is gone, but what's the point of two mainstream rap channels and one non-XL channel but no old school station? This makes absolutely no sense.

here is what they suggest for those of you who lost your favorites

XMX (2)-check out Deep Tracks (40) & Roadhouse (10)
X-Country (12) check out Outlaw Country (12)

Rhyme (65) check out Hip-Hop Nation (67)

Beyond Jazz (72) check out Watercolors (71) & Real Jazz (70)
Fine Tuning (76) check out The Loft (50) & Deep Tracks (40)

NO! There is no classic rap station at all. And Hip Hop Nation is censored.
Outlaw Country is an abomination compared to what XCountry has been in the past. They play fucking classic rock on Outlaw and the DJ's blow.
Beyond Jazz..... a niche and awesome channel, can not be found on those other channels.
Fine Tuning was also niche and was not replaced.

Those channels were in my presets. Now i just have 202 and NFL Network. And lately i can do without one of those............

This totally sucks

I'm still trying to figure out what all the hate is about? I'm happy that I only need XM, not Sirius anymore.

The number 1 problem so far is the goddamn DJ's thinking they need to talk in between every other song. SHUT THE FUCK UP ALREADY. No one gives a shit what you think, if we wanted deejays, we'd listen to Clearchannel's terrestrial bullshit. Play the fucking music.

The number 2 problem is that it is clear that Sirius' playlist is WAAAAAY less than XM's. I listened to Hair Nation yesterday on and off for a total of maybe 2 hours. I heard FIVE GODDAMN QUEENSRYCHE SONGS!!! Seriously, a whole genre of music and they can't mix it up a bit????? I know Anthony was trying to spin this as a positive, but I'd gladly take the few deep B-sides on Boneyard now and then so that it doesn't seem like I have my 50-song Ipod plugged in and set to shuffle.

Yeah I'm pissed and whining, but fuck this shit. I am seriously looking at other options like streaming audio to replace my satellite stuff.

XCountry - Cary Hudson - God Dont Never Change

39 minutes till one of the best channels on satellite radio leaves to be replaced by the shit that is Sirius.
Yep...A sad time indeed. "Outlaw Country" is no replacement, and Sirius-XM should be ashamed. Write to Jon Zellner at jon.zellner@xmradio.com, or the head of country programming, Jon Anthony at jon.anthony@xmradio.com.

As for Squizz, now Octane, thankfully Grant Random was kept. Notice the lower sound quality on the music channels now that the line-up has been merged though...Hair Nation sounds like it's coming from under water, and the repitition is pretty evident. Tuned in during one of O&A's commercial breaks this morning (right around 7:00 AM here on the West coast), and flipped by again around 9:00 PM and both times they were playing the same Motley Crue song, "Looks that Kill". Boneyard was never quite that repetitive.

I don't understand why they wouldn't replace the Sirius channels with our XM channels. It's painfully obvious that the XM channels were better.

As for Eminem's channel, I have flipped to it 6 times since Thursday morning and 4 out of 6 times there has been an Eminem song or a D12 song. I don't have this service to listen to Eminem all the time.

Also this morning I realized that my recorded songs on my Inno have been deleted. Has anyone else had this happen?

Saw this post over at xm411.com and it sums up my feelings perfectly.

The truth is, this merger could have gone pretty smoothly without anywhere near the amount of dissatisfaction if they would not have seen fit to COMPLETELY homogenize the lineups. The whole point of two satellite radio services was that people got a choice. Just because you do a merger doesn't mean you automatically take that away.

They should have given the XM people the good stuff from Sirius, like Margaritaville, but where there were channels that really weren't very similar, like X Country and Outlaw, they should have maintained what they had, maybe kept 10 or so channels unique to each service.

The fact that seems to get lost here is that XM had many more listeners to its music channels. Sirius not only had fewer subscribers, but a lot of its listening went to Howard Stern.

If it were not true that XM's listeners got the shaft here, I don't think you'd see this level of displeasure. Sirius listeners aren't unhappy - why should they be, as they're still getting what they signed up for, plus a few bonuses that moved over from XM. People say, oh, this is a merger so that's what happens. Wrong. Employees lose out in a merger, but customers normally don't. We're the revenue base - the reason they're in business. You don't screw up the product that more than half of your customers prefer.

It's painfully obvious that Mel thinks of XM subs as second rate, probably because we by proxy don't want Howard.

I think this is very true (except for the fellating Howard part). Mel and co. should have looked at WHY people originally chose XM over Sirius. Despite how he wants to spin it (Howard vs O & A) (NFL vs MLB) a great many subscribers compared the music selections and made their choices based on that. Even without O & A I would've chosen XM over Sirius because their channels are not programmed like some fake terrestrial shit. XM was like listening to the cool guy on the block's ipod. Sirius is like FM lite.....too small a playlist, and too much DJ prattle. Thankfully Sirius didn't throw a car commercial in every 5 minutes, but with Mel, it's coming. Mel may not respond to emails or phone calls, but I definitely think he'll notice when millions of subscribers decide not to fund his little "experiment" and move on to other audio mediums.

I did notice a whole lot more talking on Alt Nation when compared to Ethel. Only listened for a little while during 202 breaks but it was a bit scary. Is it always this way?

My first thought was "wow, this is going to blow for parties" I would put on XM in my place during parties and the music would be pretty constant. Now if there are DJs all the time it will break the flow and I will just go back to internet radio or basic playlists in Winamp.

Commisioners Martin, Copps, Adelstein, Tate, McDowell, and Department of Justice,

XM Satellite Radio and Sirius Satellite Radio certified before the merger that customers would not lose choices of channels. That certification was part of the conditions that allowed the merger. They lied. As of November 12, They have eliminated many of the channels that have no counterpart (i.e. Fine Tuning, Boombox, Chrome). Instead we get payola-esque single-artist channels. And, as far as diversity is concered, 75% of the Spanish-language channels were dropped, a clear act in bad faith regarding their promise to maintain diversity. As a result of the merger, consumer choice has been markedly decreased. As a result of the lost channels, the net per-channel cost has risen. The FCC and DOJ should investigate the merged company to insist that they adhere to the conditions of the merger and restore the channels that were eliminated by the merger.

Don't forget the new radios that allow a la carte channel selection. That's never going to happen now because the channel lineups are pretty much the same. So that's two other things they lied about: interoperable radios for XM subscribers (Sirius has one) and a la carte programming choices for us.

And they really need to stop with the shitty one-artist channels. Or at least quit pretending that it's nothing more than a few greased palms between the Sirius XM suits and the suits at the record label of whoever has a new album coming out. I was actually looking forward to the AC/DC channel but I've yet to hear any of the "exclusive" content. The first three times I tuned in I heard Highway To Hell. :mad4:

I agree. I hate the stupid DJs even more than the channel changes. I do not need to know the name of the artist or song.....it's on the damned display. I'm paying $12.95 a month and I DO NOT want to hear someone yakking away.

With reference to Hip Hop Nation being comparable to The Rhyme, it doesn't even come close. Too much talking on there too. I am seriously thinking of ditching XM/Sirius. I already get O&A and Ron & Fez from Audible, and I can hear non-stop music on my MP3.

the new company pitch:

"Sirius sat radio , where you can listen to censored music and talk content, a shrinking variety of music channels, Annoying Rock DJ's that try to be funny, a limited playlist, and more and more commercials. You know kinda like Commercial radio only you have to pay for this one."

Take this (http://blog.tmcnet.com/blog/tom-keating/technology-and-science/sirius-censorship.asp) for what it's worth, since I saw it on a no-name blog:

According to my source, he is a daily listener of Alt-Nation Sirius 21 and all of a sudden swear words, vulgarity, etc. was "bleeped out". He points out that Sprint and Sirius just partnered up to offer satellite radio over the phones. Apparently, Sprint didn't like the explicit lingo and had Sirius censor their own channels despite their subscribers. He also confirmed it by talking with Sirius's customer service.

The blogger then claims his "source" received this e-mail from Sirius:

Thank you for writing us here at SIRIUS. We appreciate your comments about our censored music channels on SIRIUS. Due to our new partnership with Sprint, some of our music programming lineup will now be offering censored music. These channels include:

-Faction // Channel 28

-Alt Nation // Channel 21

-First Wave // Channel 22

-Hot Jamz // Channel 50

SIRIUS remains fully dedicated to providing an unparalleled variety of music programming on our 65 commercial free music channels in virtually every genre. Our channels are designed to please subscribers of every listening preference.

The wording sounds dodgy (I don't think Sirius would use the phrase "censored music channels", among other things), but who knows...

I was at a bar last night, and they had on (I think) Alt Nation. Some cunt was not only yakking, but going on and on about shit nobody cares about. I could live with the artist and title being read, maybe a very little info about the song or album....it's not ideal, but it wouldn't be the end of my world.

But this bitch wouldn't shut up. It got so irritating to everyone that the bartender eventually ended up firing up the DJing equipment there and put on a playlist off of a laptop.

I had a Sirius sub three years ago along with my XM. Had both for about six months.
Sirius DJs were quite tolerable, they talked maybe a minute every five or 6 songs, and they'd throw a fuck or two in every once in a while. They mostly talked about things pertinent to the set that was going to air.

I take it things have changed.

This sucks so bad! The Rhyme and Raw were my favorite channels besides the Virus. Does anybody know if Miss Kitty and Leo G. from Raw were fired?

I don't understand why they wouldn't replace the Sirius channels with our XM channels. It's painfully obvious that the XM channels were better.

As for Eminem's channel, I have flipped to it 6 times since Thursday morning and 4 out of 6 times there has been an Eminem song or a D12 song. I don't have this service to listen to Eminem all the time.

Also this morning I realized that my recorded songs on my Inno have been deleted. Has anyone else had this happen?

And this whole Directtv fiasco just sucks!

Leo G is on hip hop nation from 12-6 weekdays. It's a censored channels and therefore sucks.

Cable gets away with so much more. On regular cable channels i have heard tons of material that would never ever pass on krock. Then take a look at HBO, SHOWTIME, and others. There are words and things that are said, that wouldn't even make it onto xm. I don't get why radio is this BIG DEAL when it comes to using words. Again, as Opie would say "This business just stinks"
You know its a problem when girls can't be naked in a studio, and no one listening can see if they are really naked or not. I would love for them to try the bit. Where they pretend to have a girl in studio get naked, but she really is not naked. Just to see them freak out, and dump out.

Even a funnier bit would to throw a good porn sound into the mix, and they would run into the studio and freak. Wait? is there anyone still working anywhere haha

The thing that I am concerned about is if music channels are being censored because of "the children", how much longer will it be before the complaints start about the language on shows like O&A, R&F and even Howard Stern, and the call to do something about it.

Lazy parents who don't want to take the responsibility are a big problem with things like this. TV has the V chip; inappropriate internet sites can also be blocked. But rather than do their job of parenting, the idiots ruin it for the rest of us adults. What harm can hearing a few curse words do anyway? I'm sure alot of the kiddies hear plenty of that at home

Confusion: Sirius XM fumbles channel switchover
By Ryan Saghir on November 14, 2008 12:04 PM | 78 Comments | No TrackBacks

Sirius and XM Merger

There's no doubt that things must be pretty hectic over at Sirius XM Radio Inc., but Wednesday's channel switchover was wrought with confusion and miscommunication, and I'm amazed the company even let this happen.

If I was management, I would be fuming right now. Heads would be rolling.

The fact is, a small percentage of the nearly 20 million subscribers read Orbitcast. But we were the only ones who knew the channel switchover was coming.

I received an email notification of the new Sirius XM channel lineup on the day of the switchover. But for a majority of subscribers, that was one day too late. Heck, it was one week too late.

Sure, there was some on-air discussion about the switchover, but that's assuming that everyone was listening. A mighty big assumption. Just like it's a big assumption that your subscribers will check their personal emails before jumping in the cars to go to work on Wednesday.

The result? Confusion.

Countless subscribers turned on the radio for the first time only to learn that their presets were messed up. Confused customers turned the dial only to find that the service they were used to (and paying for) is completely different now. Confusion leads to dissatisfaction - not exactly the end result the company was aiming for.

This is Satellite Radio. This isn't Internet Radio. The communications with the customer shouldn't be relegated to an email and a homepage update.

The least the company could have done was to send out a mailer a week ahead of time. A simple direct mail piece notifying that there will be a major restructuring of channels. It didn't need to be specific (though, that would be nice), but at least the channel changes wouldn't have been a surprise.

"But Ryan, budgets are tight, and a mailer to millions of subscribers costs money!"

True, but call center calls cost money too. Forrester Research estimates that a customer call for service to a call center costs an average of $5.50 per call. If one post gets 400+ comments on this subject, something tells me that there was a large increase in activity to the call centers as well. For every unhappy customer who calls, there's hundreds more who don't bother, but are equally unhappy.

The bottom line:
Sirius XM Radio have two revenue-generating "clients" - the subscriber, and the advertiser. If the company was going to do a major overhaul to the ad sales system, I'm sure they would have notified each and every advertiser well ahead of time. I'm sure every advertiser would be aware of a change occuring, even if they didn't know the full details.

The same logic - and respect - should apply to subscribers.

true, i agree

i haven't listened a lot since the switch but what i have heard i liked, i like putting on the classic alternative channel and actual hear a classic instead of something is just old and never heard before. XM was too deep, Sirius was too shallow, hopefully there is some sort of medium here but im sure im asking for too much.

oh and 3 metal channels will rock, hopefully the boneyard goes in a direction like lithium where they play more of the grunge era alternative stuff. Hopefully boneyard will play heavier, non hair metal

The obvious response to this being... "Hello! Exactly!"

SiriusXM's current situation is such that they should be down on their knees blowing their paying customers. The LAST thing they should be doing is giving their subs ANY reason, trivial or otherwise, to be dissatisfied with their service.

If enough of us "90 year old cunts" decide to take your advice and say fuck you to sat radio, then YOU won't have OnA, R&F, Bruer, or music("fine" or otherwise), and then it'll be "This isn't what I'm used to!" time for you.

I haven't heard any of this supposed Howard shit on either platform you speak of, and I've had XM for 5 years and Sirius for 2, so I'm guessing you are talking out of your ass.

Most people that have subs won't care about the changes, will they be annoyed, sure, but they will just find where the channels are now and move on and be happy with it. I pay for 7 subs, 4 of which are for family, and every one of them was a little annoyed, but they found new channels that they like and moved on. Pretty sure most others would be as well. It's just the hate on for Mel (I agree, he's a cunt) that really brought this forward. Would the hate be here if it would've been E-lo doing this? I doubt it.

And as for your rambling threat of if enough people take my advice and cancel I won't get the boys, any of my sports, any of my music, etc etc, so be it, life goes on. But I hardly doubt that the 20 or so whining cunts here about this will make much difference to XM, and even if they lost a half million subs over this (which they won't), it won't cause them to die, there are other things that are working against Sat radio that are far greater than a minimal amount of lost subs due to some programming changes.

But it's ok, stay on your soapbox. It humorous reading the waterhead rants about this shit. The lineup changes have been good all in all, and for the few shit or niche channels that were lost, only the Mel haters seem to care.

You would be surprised at the amount of outrage over this move. For a lot of people that subscribe, they have found it's no longer worth paying for to get censored music and to have many of their favorite channels removed or watered down. As I pointed out, we were supposed to be offered INTEROPERABLE radios, which, while not directly saying it, definitely implied we would continue to receive programming from both sides. Now that particular promise to the FCC is quite moot.

Hopefully Mel has factored in a decent amount of churn to his viability calculations, and Three Hole Puncher nailed it perfectly, that enough of us whiny cunts do cancel, guess what? There won't be a satellite company left for anybody to listen to.

Would I, really? You can't go on what some posters say on XM411, here, orbitcast, etc, as there are what, 20 some million subs between the two platforms, and over 90% of those subs are just the general consumer that won't cancel over this. If they cancel, it'd be due more to the economy than it is to some channel movement. And the more I look around, it looks to be the people the consistently whine about anything just to be heard that are making the noise, and nothing will happen due to those people whining.

I saw the new censored channel list, and so what. Yes, censorship sucks, but it seems to be the trend and it's not going to change.

Okay... how about the people who haven't subsrcibed yet? SiriusXM is going to live or die(and it's looking more and more like die)by their new subs, and since SiriusXM has apparently frozen their advertising budget, they're going to be relying on the word of mouth of their current subs to "spread the word" during the holday shopping season. Now... which would you guess would give a better recommendation, a satisfied customer, or person who's "a little annoyed" with their service?

It's just the hate on for Mel (I agree, he's a cunt) that really brought this forward. Would the hate be here if it would've been E-lo doing this? I doubt it.

While I agree that turning XM into Sirius II totally fucked up a good service, there is really not a lot of sense in stressing over it. Satellite radio is doomed.

With the iPod and other personal music players being available, everyone can listen to what they want when they want it. The only thing any kind of broadcast platform has going for it is live real-time content, e.g. news, sports and talk.

With Wi-Fi becoming ubiquitous and WiMax looming on the horizon, satellite technology is rapidly becoming outdated. You can access literally thousands of channels of either streaming or "podcast" content in the internet. Phones, PDA's even specialized Internet radio receivers have the ability to receive this content and are already in the hands of millions of consumers. So, as accessibility increases, who is going to want to buy a special platform as well as docks, antennas and other peripheral junk? Then pay an extra fee? To get smaller amount of more generic content? And only be able to listen to it outside of a building unless it is hardwired?

You can't tell me Mel does not see this coming. I think the old Jew saw what was coming on commerical and bailed to satellite as a last chance to line his pockets before he retires to his love nest with Hoohoo. keep whining faggots. Jesus fuck, OnA are still on, R&F are still on, you now get Bruer

No, we don't get Breuer. XM subs can't even fucking pay extra for Breuer, that's how much of a cunt Mel is. They are now programming two different Raw Dog channels, one for us without Breuer and the Wop Guys Talking About Nothing, and one for Sirius with those shows.

When canceling your sub, tell them Melvin the CUNT is responsible.

It's just the hate on for Mel (I agree, he's a cunt) that really brought this forward. Would the hate be here if it would've been E-lo doing this? I doubt it.

E-Lo is a smart, smart man. He gave his ticket on this Titanic away a long time ago.

But I hardly doubt that the 20 or so whining cunts here about this will make much difference to XM

The 20 or so whining cunts HERE are the main reason (besides E-Lo) of why you're still able to still listen to O&A and R&F after their suspension in the fallout of Homeless Charlie.

I don't think I'd have a problem canceling if shit goes further down hill. I have plenty of places to download the shows if they get fucked with. These new lineups sound a lot like the shit radio they have in Philly.

So, as accessibility increases, who is going to want to buy a special platform as well as docks, antennas and other peripheral junk? Then pay an extra fee? To get smaller amount of more generic content? And only be able to listen to it outside of a building unless it is hardwired?

Lets see. Anyone who drives to work every fucking morning and/or has to travel across the shit zones of states where no regular radio/wifi is available.

No problem cancelling here either. I'll wait a little bit before cancelling to see if there's an improvement. I don't think people on here are whining. It's justified. You're paying for uncensored content then Mel and his asswipes change things around. No emails to subscribers.......nothing. I'm just glad that I decided to wait and not replace my old XM Nexus with one of the latest portables.

You're deluded dude........this has nothing to do with "liking Mel the Jew". It has to do with a merger of two companies and what we were promised, versus what is being delivered. If you think that you are still getting your money's worth for your newly blessed Sirius radio then OK, Terrific. A lot of us here in the thread think the changes are bullshit and hoping that Sirius wakes up before enough subscribers jump ship causing the whole sat radio business to swirl the drain and disappear. And that is no good for any of us here.

What "Howard shit" are you talking about? Howard's part-time schedule? His wife's scam charity? The complainers?

Okay... how about the people who haven't subsrcibed yet? SiriusXM is going to live or die(and it's looking more and more like die)by their new subs, and since SiriusXM has apparently frozen their advertising budget, they're going to be relying on the word of mouth of their current subs to "spread the word" during the holday shopping season. Now... which would you guess would give a better recommendation, a satisfied customer, or person who's "a little annoyed" with their service?

Yeah... that's it. It's just Mel hate. :icon_roll Only people who have heard of Melvin Karmazi are upset with the changes, right? If they don't know Mel, then they don't care about the changes, right?

Sir... that's utter malarky.

Yep... 20 whining cunts. That's all.

Dude, wake the fuck up. The story is being reported in national newspapers:

http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/columnists/chi-sun-phil-rosenthal-16nov16,0,1422644.column

Yep just Mel hate. The new lineup is fabulous, and everybody loves it except a handful of Mel haters.

The 100+ comments here were left by a few Mel haters, right?

http://newsblogs.chicagotribune.com/towerticker/2008/11/xm-radio-sirius.html

Malarky, sir. You spout utter malarky.

wow, you posted an irrelevant article. Good for you. And sure, there are 100 comments here that are bashing the change, but it's by all of around 20 posters you dumbass.

Again, if you honestly think the consumer anger over this lineup change (which again, I like, and 90% of subs won't blink at) will cause sat radio to fail, you are sadly mistaken. The fact that the Auto industry is hurting, the economy is shit, and Sirius/XM is breaking things that were written into the merger (which is a federal government issue, not a consumer issue), is what will make or break the platform. Again, all that got taken away is some shit channels or some channels only a few listened to, and sure, that may just be the beginning, but who knows. But you all write your letters, send the cock pics, it won't help your cause this time dummies.

I'm sure glad that I have more to do with my life than bitch and whine over a pay service that if I didn't like anymore, I could simply call and cancel. Get a fucking brain people.

the point of what i was saying is that its not like when the bboys were suspended and everyone banded together to get them not fired. Instead its just a bunch of guys saying they are going to cancel. When the suspension happened we tied up customer service, set up rallies, got on tv and newspapers (i for one was in the daily news). This time it seems everyone here is just rolling over and going oh well ill take my ball and trade it in for an ipod.

I for one, haven't had a problem yet with the changes, im not a country or a rap fan. I like metal, by january there will be 3 metal channels. This is more then there was before so it actually got better. We'll see what happens with the playlists but i haven't had a problem yet. I don't how that is deluded but sure whatever you want to say to get yourself to feel better.

exactly, a lot of the things people are bitching about could be a mistake for all you know. I read somewhere that one of the hip-hop stations that lost its xl was a mistake and it will return, ive also heard that some of the other channels that lost it was only temporary. Whats with this "this is different now, bye goodbye goodbye goodbye" attitude. I'll give it at least a chance.

as long as i got the virus, nhl, mlb, now nfl, and 3 metal channels, im fine.

I have been listening to hair nation, in replace of my favorite station the boneyard. It does have good tunes. (If you are into that sorta music) I was really loving in for the first two hours. After that, it was the same song, and the same bands right after another. They don't really dig deep enough. With the boneyard, they would have songs that I have never heard before, and would like. Which I would then download. I am feeling really uneasy about everything lately.. I am still holding a sub because of O&A.. As long as they are on sirius xm, I am going to stick with it... I do download the show, but I pay.. I only download because I can't listen at work anymore.. I would listen at night, but I have things to do.. And, I hate hearing little parts of the show, and missing out on some good material. I may consider audible, because atleast its supporting the show.

you really don't know me very well dummy. I hardly listen to the show as I don't have the time to commit 6 hours to it daily. Since the suspension my listening time to the show has all but vanished. It's not a reflection of the quality of the show, it's just a reflection of having other shit to do.

And there are still what, 60 music channels on the platform? If you can't find something else on there to replace your beloved Lucy or whatever the fuck you listened to, then you should drown yourself.

It's a pay service you stupid fuck, and you have your right to complain. But you also have the option of canceling it, and nothing you say, as stupid as it is, will change it. We get it, "YOU" saved the show by doing the same thing. Well guess what dumbass, this isn't the fucking same. This is the way it is, nothing will change it, and either get used to it, for cancel your sub and dl the show like a lot of other people do.

Nope. I listen to both my Sirius and XM daily, and while some of the changes weren't great, but I'm happy with both my services. And now with these changes, I can cancel my Sirius and keep XM. But again, I didn't listen to Lucy, X Country, etc. Just because I don't listen to the show daily doesn't mean I don't listen to my radios daily.

You admit that you weren't happy with some of the changes, and you also admit that you're not very passionate about the music... you're satisified with music that is merely "fine".

Is it really worth getting angry with people who aren't as easily amused as you seem to be? This is what you reserve your passion for? Ranting and raving at those who aren't as accepting of mediocrity as yourself?

Sirius cuts DJs, re-shuffles channel lineup; beginning of the end?

Posted Nov 17th 2008 1:46PM by Brian White
Filed under: Bad news, Sirius Satellite Radio (SIRI)

Sirius is now shuffling channels, trying to find a better mix that newer customers would be drawn to, as well as eliminating DJs on some music channels to save costs. When the difference between pay radio and terrestrial radio starts diminishing, that is a signal of the end. Sirius can't expect to have lackluster music programming and a lack of actual DJ personality to be perceived as "better" to existing customers, who could turn off satellite forever and create their own music service with a $50 MP3 player.

This article was linked to from Google Finance stock ticker page for SIRI... which is currently trading at 24 cents/share.

Darn... the shareholders can't even trade in a share for a gumball anymore.

What the fuck are you babbling on about beeman?

I already have dropped 3 of my 4 subs like many have already and i already know how to DL the shows for free(aka stealing). Unlike you, i care about other things besides OnA/RaF so again STFU.

When either or both OnA/RaF get booted from sirius or moved to another channel or are forced to make programming changes with in the next 10 months im sure you will not be complaining right? "just cancel and stop whining" right faggggggoooooot?

I had to do a double take before. I had XM Online on and was listening to Lithium. Green Day - "Blvd..." song was on (like I hadn't heard it enough on terrestrial) and then they played a Seal song. Yep...FUCKIN SEAL!!! How the fuck is that alternative rock!? So, I had to make sure that maybe the channel didn't somehow change by itself to like the 90's or The Pulse...but no, it was Lithium.

I then went to Classic Vinyl and heard, what I'm guessing is Carol Miller, talking about the Stones.

This is so far ridiculously worse.

Another idea to voice your opinion would be to FAX the SIRIUS-XM office mutliple times. I am sure they will not like wasting paper because they are "cutting costs" and these would be hard for them to ignore.

I don't keep my radios for 202 you dumb cunt. I keep it for the talk, sports, music, and 202, but it's not the main reason I keep it.

You sound like just another fucking 12 year old faggot that can't handle someone calling you out. When OnA got suspended, I never said boo. They were off, and I found other shit to listen to. Since then I haven't listened daily as I once did. I also wasn't one of the fucktards that were smashing/burning/etc their radios over it.

Before you get all uppity shitidick, think about what you are saying. All that last post of yours did is prove that you are a know nothing douche that can't handle not being right.

All I'm saying is the new programming is great, the merger has been good all in all. If someone doesn't like it, fine, call and complain, that's your right. But to fucking whine about a channel changing names over and over again and whine about how some non-relevant band isn't on anymore is pathetic. Same with this fucking shit of sending cock pics, etc etc. Sat Radio has changed, and this time around, if anything is going to be accomplished by the fans, they have to be smarter than just the fucking 4 year old humor.

The last few days I thought that when Opie said that the jocks have to stop talking like its regular radio, I thought he just meant banter.

Then the last couple hours I started listening to music on XM for the first time after the change.

HOLY FUCK they need to stop hitting the post. I don't fucking pay for music to be talked over with some random babble like they do on the radio so you can't tape it with your old Aiwa cassette player.

Seriously, who let that one go? If my cheif reason for XM weren't O+A, I'd consider dropping it, and if I happened be in a Best Buy and turn on an XM and hear some douche talking over your so advertised music, it would totally turn me off of it.
