I love those type of hybrid bands! I love Lunatic Calm. Vocalist, Synth guy, and drummer. I love the sound of live drummers doing breakbeats with the rest of the band in electronics.

Just got back from Austin last night. It was an amazing DJ set by TCM on Friday night! They slammed some new stuff from their upcoming album "Divided by the Night". One song sounded Daft Punk-ish but in the middle the regular beat would be interrupted by their signature heavy breakbeats. Great time all around. We were in the VIP section where they were partying 3 tables away. I wanted to go up to them so bad and ask for a picture but was too nervous. I was like a little girl. After their set my girlfriend and I got a picture with Scott. I'll post pictures later when I get them transferred from my girlfriend's camera. I also recorded the audio of their entire DJ set on my phone. I'll see how that turned out and if it's worth posting. They played amazing remixes of Trip Like I Do, Coming Back, Busy Child, Keep Hope Alive, Name of the Game, and Born Too Slow. They also played Cherry Twist, unedited, unremixed. Overall one of the greatest DJ sets I've seen.

You gotta love the balls of Sigue Sigue Sputnik selling adverts between the songs on the album and incorporating them in the music.
How about Orgy,
Orgy was a great synth-rock / deathpop band. I'd love if they put out another album. Assuming Jay's quit horse by now.

Anybody else here crapping their pants over the South by Southwest festival in Austin? This year they are going to have "Two big night of electronic music". Check out the killer lineup!
"SXSW will host two big nights of electronic music at La Zona Rosa. The Insiders showcase on Wednesday, March 18 is curated by legendary DJ Pete Tong and features Booka Shade (Berlin), Deadmou5 (Toronto), Late of the Pier (Nottingham), Kissy Sell Out (London), and Rye Rye (Baltimore). The showcase on Saturday, March 21 will feature live sets from Pendulum (London) and The Whip (Manchester), plus DJ sets from The Crystal Method (LA), Kaskade (SF) and Dieselboy (Brooklyn)."
This is gonna be a killer festival. Always been a Pete Tong fan, same with Buka Shade. Pendulum, The Crystal Method (DJ Set), and Dieselboy!! I could care less for Kaskade, Deadmou5 and everybody else. It's still not confirmed if The Crystal Method will do a live show and/or DJ set. My girl and I are planning on getting tickets for this two day event. "Badges" are $300+. If they're that much, fuck that. I just want to see these shows. No other indie douchebags.

Lotus, The New Deal, and Sound Tribe Sector 9 are going to be some of the best "livetronica" you can find.
Lately I've been enjoying 3OH!3, and their debut album "Want". It's hip-hop flavored electronica that walks the line between serious music-making and self-aware parody.
Here's one of their songs, "Punkbitch":

Of course, you might know them better for this single, which Opie erroneously dubbed the "Helen Keller Song":

I might have to come in here one day and just give you guys a lesson. Complete with mixes, bios, video's and shit. Expand your horizons a bit. Good lord you guys like gay electronic music.

Here is a clip of The Crystal Method live at Coachella playing Trip Like I Do. It looks like in this new tour they play "updated" versions of their classics. Loos fucking AWESOME! Can't wait to catch them in Austin! I MUST sneak in a video cam or regular camera to catch some footage. Their overall stage set up is A LOT different. It's more flashy. But they still smash their keyboards. Love it! I've heard two new tracks from their new album. I've heard "Drown in the Now" feat Matisyahu. I've never heard him rhyme, but he tears it up good. I've also heard "Black Rainbows". This is TOTALLY different from their typical hard beats. It has a 4 on the floor dance beat with lush melodies and female vocals. Very different, but it's my favorite song right now.
I was digging through my old cd collections and came across a lost treasure of mine. Sander Kleinenberg's Essential Mix (circa 2000). Great mix. When progressive and electro were good. Also found Adam Beyer live at the Motor City Lounge (circa 2000). One of the greatest techno sets I've heard. Anybody here keep up with Mark Farina?

The way they (and other good electronic bands like the chemical brothers, orbital, etc) play live is they let some machines play some parts (two guys can't play every instrument) but they play as many leads as possible live. Strings, leads, basslines, and other main parts are played live. Drums, bottoms, and other back melodies are "triggered" and looped through a "computer". If the loop isn't triggered at the right time, the song can sound like shit. But there are electronic groups that do nothing but mix and trigger and don't play anything live, like basement jaxx and underworld (to some extent) are known for doing. Those I wouldn't bother seeing "live". except for underworld.
Lately, I've been listening to a lot of Morgan Page. His collaborations with indie singer Lissie are quality. Here's his two most-well known songs, featuring her (plus a remix):
