Default Proposed Washington Initiative Would Require Married Couples To Have Children.

Quote:
I-957 would require married couples to have kids

By Associated Press
OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) - Proponents of same-sex marriage have introduced an initiative that would put a whole new twist on traditional unions between men and women: It would require heterosexual couples to have kids within three years or else have their marriages annulled.

Initiative 957 was filed by the Washington Defense of Marriage Alliance, which was formed last summer after the state Supreme Court upheld Washington's ban on same-sex marriage. In that 5-4 ruling, the court found that state lawmakers were justified in passing the 1998 Defense of Marriage Act, which restricts marriage to unions between a man and woman.

Under I-957, marriage would be limited to men and women who are able to have children. Couples would be required to prove they can have children to get a marriage license, and if they did not have children within three years, their marriages would be subject to annulment.

All other marriages would be defined as "unrecognized" and people in them would be ineligible to receive any marriage benefits.

This kinda makes me laugh. How many men do you think are rushing to sign this thing? "Sorry Honey, but I don't want kids. It's not my fault, it's the law."

I imagine, like most laws, if you are already married then it doesn't apply to you. If not married, tough shit. You are just co-habitating. Go get a civil union.

I hope it goes through because it would discourage marriage.

This country is starting to suck. the only thing that made us better than these savage countries is our freedoms. Those are being eroded by these cunting special interest groups.

What makes this country so great is that we can also go out and protest the government in mass numbers, something these savage countries have done, such as Russia, Ukraine, some Islamic countries, and several European countries.

How come you're not out protesting?

What about people that try to have kids and can't? Does this bill give federal funding to pay for infertility treatments or cover all adoption expenses? I realize this is just a 'statement' bill intended to provoke discussion, not actually put this goofy law in place, but it just shows that some people are so caught up in their silly causes that they fail to think things through. Instead of provoking the discussion they intend, this will just be loffed off as the poorly conceived drivel that it is.

Between this, the Seahawks, the horse fucking, and Nirvana, I wish Washington would just cecede from the union.

Welfare pays for fertility drugs and prenatal vitamins for those looking to conceive.

Just wanted to mention that.

Not for those of us who have jobs, and not all treatments.

Odd, when I'm dispensing Clomiphene and prenatal vitamins on a daily basis and it comes up with a "$0.00" copay, assigned to MNY.

Unless you're gay and want to marry your partner that is.

Amazing how far we've come, and how far the rest of the world has come, yet we have savage, archaic laws that always get brought into question or laws brought forth for appeasement. This is the kind of shit that goes on in Islamic states.

For the most part, Europe doesn't give a shit about homosexuals, marriage, and women in office.

Because fucking a horse is soooo far-fetched, they wouldn't even think of trying it. They don't have to fear fucking a horse.

The people backing this bill are just trying to make a point. In the very unlikely event it even passes, it'll be struck down as unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. Nyeh.

They're only doing it to appease the religious sects to show them they're trying to go for morality.

No, it's a pro-gay marriage group that is proposing the law. The anti-gay marriage people said that since homosexuals can't have kids and marriage is meant as a union for parenthood, gays shouldn't be married. So this is the gay's sacrastically saying "Well then if you get married you should be required to have children to maintain the marriage."
