Default newgrounds.com looking for help to send stuff to the show

this was brought to my attention earlier.... looks like O&A have some friends over at newgrounds!

http://www.newgrounds.com/collection...ndanthony.html

Quote:
Welcome to the Opie and Anthony contest page! After the contest is over this page will remain as our Opie and Anthony content page. Some of us at Newgrounds.com are big fans of Opie and Anthony and are excited that they are now back on the air, but this time via satellite on XM Radio. We thought it would be fun to help them out a little by exposing our audience to their show! So we have come up with a contest where NG users can submit Opie and Anthony Flash toons set to funny audio clips from their show. The winner will receive a Delphi Roady2 receiver with the home adaptor kit, a $170.00 value! The only catch is the winner will have to cover the cost of the XM Radio subscription which runs $9.99 a month, plus taxes and surcharges, and an extra $1.99 per month to hear Opie and Anthony on XM Radio's new premium channel, High Voltage! Keep in mind you can sign up for this service anytime you want, or never if you want to sell the equipment to someone else. Winning won't obligate you to spend a dime.

To enter the contest users will have to go out and find a funny clip from the Opie and Anthony show. You can find these on P2P services like Kazaa, and on Opie and Anthony fan sites, like Foundrymusic. Now that Opie and Anthony are on XM Radio they would prefer if you used recent sound clips from their show on XM Radio. Their older material is owned by their previous employers and we could run into legal problems if they find it on Newgrounds.

When you create your entry we are asking everyone to use the NG pre-loader followed by a screen displaying your NG username. We want to make it easy to identify that you created the entry and our users can clearly link the credit to your NG account. Also at the end we ask you include a link to Opie and Anthony's official site, opieandanthony.com, and you may also display links to your own web site, etc. Also when you submit your entry be sure to start the title with "O&A:" followed by the title of the clip. After submitting your entry send off an e-mail to wade@newgrounds.com and make sure you subject reads "Newgrounds Help - O&A Contest" and Wade will check out your submission and if it's not a total piece of crap he will add it here to be entered into the contest. If your entry scores below a 3.00 or violates any of our terms we may choose to exclude it from the contest, but a score of 2.53 or whatever doesn't mean you're automatically excluded. We'll give everyone about a month to put their entries together. Feel free to enter as many times as you want. We will pick the winner on November 15th, 2004.

Now for the best part, there is a chance Opie and Anthony may pick the winner and discuss this contest on their show! We can't promise this and if they are unable to pick a winner we may select the winner, or try and get some other O&A staff to vote on their favorite.

To give some of you a head start and hear some of the stuff they play on their show, check these clips out:

The Drilldo
Jim Norton goes off on a caller

Below is an O&A clip Wade made a couple years ago that you can use as an example of what we're looking for, but Wade hopes you blow his entry out of the water as he doesn't care for his art skills.

DARTH VULGAR - Darth Vulgar, mother fucker of the universe, tells all your favorite Star Wars characters what he thinks of them!

Thanks for bringing this to the attention of your forums. I just signed up here. I was first introduced to O&A when I came across some of their clips on the web. Then when I heard they were coming to the Philadelphia market I was very excited. I listened to them faithfully until they were yanked. When I heard they were coming back to XM Radio I went out and got myself set up in time to catch the first show.

I'm a bit annoyed with XM's lack of promotion for O&A. Maybe they are waiting for the media to do their thing and then they will do an ad campaign for O&A, after they have some time to get all the bugs worked out of their show.

So I though I'd do what I could to help promote their show by running an O&A contest on Newgrounds.com. We are even giving away a Roady 2 with home kit to encourage our Flash artists to enter. Once we have some cool O&A Flash files we can spread them around the web.

Newgrounds promoting O and A? That fucking rules! I've been a fan of Newgrounds since 99, remembering the origional Portal when there was around 20 flash cartoons. The Who Shot Tupac and the Sloth TV's are still my favorites of all time. Followed Newgrounds religiously up till the huge XIOXIOXIO explosion, then became too overwhelmed. I still check the site out periodically and always have had you guys linked on my site. Jesus I still remember the April fools of 2000 when you guys replaced the page with those horrid flash cartoons, with the Disco Sucks! and the opening page "Ahh re re, liba chili, lalalala" Jeez I still think about that shit all the time. Anyway welcome to wackbag! You guys rule!

Thanks Sexteriyaki. Newgrounds grew so fast it got out of control and was pretty much the wild west for some time. We are starting to get a better handle on things and the site has turned around over the past year. Hopefully we'll continue to grow and be able to expose our 340,000+ daily users to Opie and Anthony if we get some kick ass Flash entries for the contest.

Wade, I've enjoyed you and Tom's site for as long as I can remember and I know countless other people have as well. This is definitely a great way to expose a lot more people to O&A. If XM isn't gonna do it, I guess it will have to be a grassroots thing again. Thanks again!

I hope XM steps up to the plate and starts an O&A promotion. I think they might be waiting until they work out all the bugs and then launch something in November. Maybe there aren't enough Delphi radios on the market to warrant a large scale promotion. Meaning if they do a large scale promotion everyone will freak out because they can't find the equipment, so they are waiting for a larger surplus of receivers to become available. This is just my personal speculation though and is probably wrong.

Unfortunately, many of my toons are political/anti Kerry and they get offed fairly quickly. I guess its time to submit one for O&A. I did a few for The Scott Ferrall Show in Atl before he got canned last month and they even used my audio on the show.
Toons are on "Funny Shit" page

christ...i was already doing this. and i thought I was so original...so much for that. its gonna be close to get this thing in by the deadline, but on the positive side I now have more motivation.

I worked on this show:
http://www.vh1.com/shows/dyn/vh1_ill...d/series.jhtml
so I have some experience with poorly drawn caricatures yelling at each other.

good luck everyone.

That's dope for Flash dude. Whether you make the deadline or not you need to finish whatever you're starting, for me at least .

*coughWADEEXTENDDEADLINEcough*

Hope to have mine out by Saturday night. Won't look as pretty as yours Johnny but I'm hoping for the audio to make people to look past that ...

I wanted to do something more clever audio wise than I'm doing, but I caved in thinking I'll never make it on time. It may actually just end up being really stupid. I really look forward to seeing what everybody else is doing. Hopefully it's more than 2-3 people.

And putting off buying GTA for 2 more weeks so I can finish this is irritating as well.

That's dedication right there .

I'm about ready to start my second one, first one being http://newgrounds.com/portal/view.php?id=200993 .

Like I had said, not to pretty but came out semi decent, I guess =P.

I was talking to Seizure_Dog from NG and he should have at least one comming out, maybe two. He's using some good bits .

I'm thinking they'll be 4 to 5 people all together battling, in the end.
Good luck Johnny =) ...

_altr_... THAT WAS GREAT!!!

I have "Macromedia Flash 2004" installed on this new computer I just got, and you have to help me figure out how to use this software some day. I am amazed by all the creative Flash artists on Newgrounds, and wish I could create these things as well.

Your "Popeye" bit was so good, I wanted to hilight it in Outerworlds somehow, so I looked into the commands that would activate a web browser when you clicked on an image there. I found this new Outerworlds browser edition has a new advanced command for firing up regular web material that turns the main screen into the web material you are calling up.

I know it sounds confusing, but when you click on the image, the entire Outerworlds screen turns into your flash movie. It's like watching your flash presentation on a wide screen TV. Since yours looked so good, I threw up 3 other clips as well...

The only thing you have to realize about this new feature, is getting back to the original Outerworlds screen. It took me a little time to figure out, but I finally saw a small "X" in the upper right corner that you have to click on when yor done watching the movie as illustrated here...

Check it out... it really looks cool in this 3D Outerworlds browser. The "Darth Vulger" one looks down right 3 dimensional with that finger coming right out of the screen!

Thanks altr, for making this, and letting me showcase it in Outerworlds!

OW dope. Nice lil enviroment there. I'll try and be there and drunkenly ramble when y'all in there. Tis a nice set up . Looking at my lil movie through there, I updated it so you don't see the excess "stuff"(off of the "stage", in flash) . Should look better.

Flash wise, PM me any time =). Flash has a learning curve > J-Lo's arse but not as bouncey. With what you had did in OW it looks like you could catch on decently, pending punching walls . Flash a "love hate" program. You're constantly wet dreaming and ripping out it's liver. Tis fun if you like anal sex with Nancy tho.

Anywho, I'm hoping to have the next one out by next Friday. Which prolly means Monday. I'm also gonna have to do more bits, even after NG's contest. Hope no one minds . WHERE YOU AT JOHNNY? Hook it up yo =) ...

Being drunk and typinly yours, and thanks to all who liked me flashing bits,

Thanks _altr_!

OW is still like any chat room, it is usually pretty empty unless people plan to meet there at a certain time. Maybe we can organize some flash discussion meeting time for people interested in stuff like this.

If you stopped by late last night, you probably already seen these updates. Since I had posted last, I had added a few more flash movies listed in the image below...

For those who haven't seen the updates, yet... check them out!
