Not to be an over analyzing ninny but, there is so much more to the film than just what you see on the screen. The entire premise is government control out of hand, and the effects of it. Both in the violence and the redemption. Also it’s a British film so as an American it can be hard to relate to it. Watch it a couple of times and you will probably like it. I didn’t like it the first time that I saw it, but now I watch it all the time,

A classic -- possibly Kubrick's best.

Well I know the dialogue is a little hard to follow... as the author of the book wrote it in Russia in the 50's city outside Moscow coffeehouses...

I really loved the film. It was a punk rock staple of the 80's, where we'd give each other mowhawks and watch Clockwork and drink Old Milwaulkee 16 oz cans. Besides, it's where Jimmy's line "Hello Joe. Find the room comfortable, do you?" comes from.

A clockwork Orange is the GREATEST MOVIE EVER MADE
whatever u consider the 2nd greatest movie ever made, A Clockwork Orange is a million times better. No film has ever come close to the sheer brilliance of Kubricks masterpiece. In any aspect of filmmaking and art, the film is flawless.
True, I saw it at an impressionable time (when i was about 13) but it was a defining moment in my life. I have no respect for anyone who cant respect this genius

I would even suggest that a cheesy comedy like Big Labowski or a sappy chick flick like Ghost is better. And those aren't nearly the greatest movies ever made.
Edit:
Here's some more non-greatest movies that are better than Clockwork Orange:
Alien
Yojimbo
The Godfather (although lots of people seem to think it's the best)
Less Than Zero
Just to name a random few.

Yeah, it is a cheesy comedy. It's great, don't get me wrong, but it is cheesy too.
And Ghost is a great movie. Just because you tend to need a vagina to really appreciate it, doesn't mean it is a bad movie.

Clockwork is not British. It was made by an American living in England. It was made about a vision of the future that took place in Britain, but it wasn't a British picture. It was a KUBRICK picture, which defies country categorization.
By that logic, Full Metal Jacket is a British picture, because it was shot entirely in England.

True, but as you stated it takes place in Britton where as FMJ takes place in Viet Nam and Paris Island. My logic isn’t flawed, also the original novel was written by a Brit, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0121256/ a lot of the language and mannerisms are British, I find that is why some people don’t like the film, I personally feel like you, it’s a Kubrick film and therefore has no real country of origin only a man and his vision. I was merely trying to sway the non believers . Long live ultra-violence!

Well crime in Britain is certainly lower now than it was in the early 80's late 70's. The crime rate is rising again, but nothing like those shitty times on the isles. Europe was full of asses in the 70's though. Well, everywhere was.

Anyone in New Orleans should come on down to the Canal Place Cinema, we're showing Clockwork Orange at midnight on Friday and Saturday. I think a few other Landmark theaters are showing it also check their website to find out where it's playing.

The movie is great, the book is even better. How can you watch an old bag getting bludgeoned and left for dead amidst her cats and think "awful"?
