I downloaded it today and found it great, so I want to sign up for the pay service, however I don't have quite enough cash for the supreme pay service. If I buy a year subscription at the normal rate, can I upgrade it for the $20 more like next week or something? Or would I have to go through a lot of bullshit?

No what they would do is this, force you to pay for a full Green subscription and then when your green year is up, give you a partial year of green according to how much of your current year is left.
