I heard like 2 or 3 "prank" calls in a row on one show this week, one doing a HYSTERICAL

Ramone impression and the other referencing it, bringing the show to a fucking halt.

I dunno if they're Wackbaggers or not (I'd hope the baggers would have enough intelligence to see that R&F is a different groove of a show and if you don't dig it, don't shit on it, cause they're buddy's with O&A), so it's probably some retarded trucker with 3 teeth, maybe O&A can say something on their show, I dunno, seems like Ron is just about fed up with it, and I know I hate how it wrecks the flow.

For sure, that's the OTHER realm of the Ramone calls.

If a listener calls in, and the context of the call is "This call is a joke because I know how bad Ramone calls are" it's funny. It's also great to annoy enemies with as well because it's so unfunny.

Jimmy is the ONLY one who does it well, and as we hear it's material that he and the other writers on the show come up with. In other words, professionals.

Well that's the mindset of some of these people calling into R&F... Some of the fans of O&A, the dreaded "take it too far" breed think any other show other than O&A is bad, and either needs to be either attacked or "helped along"

It's juvenile. And to be honest why I like R&F so much, they simply do a good show.. No extra work involved, no "radio war" no combat time, just a funny fucking show. I love that about them.

To be honest, I really don't mind it when the callers understand the bit, which unfortunately doesn't seem to happen too often. I venture to guess many of them barely know anything about Steve C, much less the fact that Steve from Yellowstone is a parody of him. I know that's a bold statement and all, but every time someone yells, "RAMONE! (insert ANY phrase here) ", I tend to think they missed the punchline.

That really is one of the number one reasons I love Ron and Fez. You listen to Howard and his cronies (Scott and Bubba) both screaming and yelling about how awful O+A are, challenging them to fights, etc. Opie and Anthony, are similar to that, albeit different in that you kind of imagine them having a giant war room like Strangelove with, instead of missile silos, are the location of jocks and reporters who have wronged them. But still, they fight battles, they fight wars.

Then you have Ron and Fez. If you simply listen to them, you'd have no idea any sort of radio battles are going on b/w 101 and 202. They occasionally slip in an anti-Howard line but really, they exist as their own separate entity apart from EVERYTHING. That's their brillance. How utterly laidback and apathetic they are. They see it going on around them and they pretty much don't give a shit. They don't have crazy plans and secret, behind-closed-doors deals going on, they're just happy to do what they're doing. They're content in their lives and it shines through.

It's part of what makes the show such a great midday show. O+A might get you jumpstarted and riled for the day but by the first half hour of Ron and Fez, that anger is gone and all you want to do is light up a joint, put up your feet and play solitare and you feel like you can. And that ends up making the rest of the day so much better.

And, to be fair, I do give credit to O+A for not pulling Ron and Fez into their shit like Howard does with Bubba/Scott.

Ramone calls are funny, but I can see that they don't belong on Ron and Fez. Its a different show.

Even still, I wish Ron hadn't dumped mine....it was a lot better than the other one that got through that day.

I'll be saving my Ramone calls for people I don't like from now on.

It's cute and all how some of you guys go that extra mile when it comes to repeating lines you hear on the show (minus the actual humor and delivery), but when brings the flow of a show to a grinding halt after your attempt to emulate other people's bits doesn't get any laughs, then you're an ass. But hey, you got on the radio, right? Why don't you finish every phone call with "Punching Out", ya non-bit-understanding mother fuckers.

Oh yeah, and start every call with "Miss (insert bomb)" or "Happy Birthday Jimmy"

Keep driving those bit's into the ground after the show has obviously moved on, guys.

I agree. The Ramone bit is funny when it's used in the context of berating some lame guest or attacking another radio show. It's even a joke my friends and I use sometimes when we're hangin' out.

But it just doesn't fit on R&F. Ron handles them like a pro - but what's the point? The caller looks like an asshole and it brings R&F's topic to a halt. I wish Op would give a quick "hey, and lay off the Ramone calls on R&F, would ya please?" one day. That's it, just one casual line like that. Would it fully stop them? Probably not. But at least it'd be mentioned that they're lame and it's generally frowned upon.

I think the original poster had a good point. I don't know why Ant got so mad, but I think pretty much everyone here has been in agreement...
