Week 2 Fantasy Picks
Figured I start a little early this week to allow time for discussion of said picks:
Best QB start for Week 2: Peyton Manning (vs. Hou)
Best RB start for Week 2: Jamal Lewis (vs. Oak), Tiki Barber (@ Phi), Rudi Johnson (vs. Cle)
Best WR start for Week 2: Torry Holt (@ SF), Chad Johnson (vs. Cle), Marvin Harrison (vs. Hou)
Best TE start for Week 2: Todd Heap (vs. Oak)
Best K start for Week 2: David Akers (vs. NYG)
Best DEF start for Week 2: Baltimore Ravens (vs. Oak)
Sleepers:
QB:
-Drew Brees (@ GB)
-David Carr (@ IND)
-Alex Smith (vs. StL)
RB:
-Ahman Green (vs. NO)
-Frank Gore (vs. StL)
-Mike Bell (vs. KC) (Note: Shanahan has said Tatum and Mike will split time evenly. Both are decent starts as Denver runs a lot. I like Mike better, though, because he seems the better and more reliable receiving option in addition to a solid runner)
-Lawerence Maroney (@ NYJ)
WR:
-Eric Moulds (@ IND)
-Marques Colston (@ GB) (Note: Colston has TE eligibility in Yahoo leagues, which makes him that much better of an option)
-Antonio Bryant (vs. StL)
-Troy Brown (@ NYJ)
TE:
-Dallas Clark (vs. Hou)
-Kellen Winslow (@ Cin)
K:
-Michael Koenen (vs. TB)
-Jay Feeley (@ Phi)
DEF:
-Detroit Lions (@ Chi)
-Cincinnati Bengal (vs. Cle)
Busts:
QB:
-Aaron Brooks (@ Bal)
-Chris Simms (@ Atl)
-Chad Pennington (vs. NE)
-Mark Brunell (@ Dal)
RB:
-Chester Taylor (vs. Car)
-LaMont Jordan (@ Bal)
-Cadillac Williams (@ Atl)
-Julius Jones (vs. Was)
WR:
-Lee Evans (@ Mia)
-Randy Moss (@ Bal)
-Eddie Kennison (@ Den)
-Drew Bennett (@ SD)
TE:
-Tony Gonzalez (@ Den)
-Chris Cooley (@ Dal)
K:
-none
DEF:
-New York Giants (@ Phi)
-Jacksonville Jaguars (vs. Pit)

Depending how you use the advice can affect your team as well. When I give sleepers, there needs to be some basic logic used in deciding whether to start one or not.
For example, I like the Eric Moulds matchup against Indianapolis this week. I think he could go for 80-100 yards and a TD.
Would I advocate starting him over guys like Terrell Owens, Marvin Harrison, Anquan Boldin, Larry Fitzgerald, etc? Absolutely not.
"Sleepers" in most cases should only be started if:
1) You have a middle of the road starter who has a bad matchup this week
2) You had an injury and need to make a quick replacement
3) You have no option at a certain position and are just trying to piece it together week to week
4) You need to fill in for a player's bye week.
I could hit on every player I put out there for this week, but if you use the info wrongly, you could still lose in spite of starting some of those guys.
The bottom line is don't bench your stars no matter the matchup.
I have Peyton Manning. I will never bench him this year.
I have Clinton Portis. Now that he's healthy, he won't see the bench again either this season.

No, post it in the thread...take in some advice from others as well if they give it
And it's not that the sleepers are a no go either...it's just you have to be smart about it.
If you're faced with the choice between Anquan Boldin in a tough matchup vs. Eric Moulds in a favorable one, you still take Boldin 100% of the time because he's a bonafide fantasy star.
However, if the choice is between starting Reggie Brown in a tough matchup vs. starting Moulds in a favorable one, you may want to play the matchup there and start the one with the more favorable one because the receivers are comparable production and talent wise.

Don't take this the wrong way but, is this your first year in a Fantasy League? If so remember this simple rule... ALWAYS start your healthy studs. Its the First rule of Fantasy Football and should always be followed.
What are your starting requirements?
Chad Johnson, Reggie Bush (for now) and Fred Taylor (for now) fall into the Stud Category and should be started no matter what on this team.

So far My Sleepers this week are...
QB - Phillip Rivers
Chad Pennington
Alex Smith
Starting Rivers would take king kong balls, but I think that he has a decent matchup. I haven't looked at WR or RB yet I will post them later.

Aizazzle...I've got to level with you...you don't have a great team. Bulger and Hasslebeck are decent QB options, but you have pretty weak RB depth, and outside of Chad Johnson, no WR depth.
It'd also be helpful to know what positions you start each week. How many RBs? WRs? Is there a FLEX position?
Anyway, if I were you, I'd start this week:
QB: Marc Bulger
RB1: Clinton Portis
RB2: Reggie Bush
WR1: Chad Johnson
WR2: Drew Bennett
WR3: Keyshawn Johnson (not a great option at all, but better than Branch this week)
TE: Randy McMichael
K: Shayne Graham
DEF: Denver
And if you have FLEX position (which allows you to start an extra RB/WR/TE), you should start Fred Taylor

Hey, I've got Randy Moss in one of my leagues. I can't decide whether to keep him and hope Oak gets their shit together or trade him while he still has a smidgen of value.

Just a note Deion Branch isn't playing this week so he's a no go no matter what. Depends on what you can get, don't trade him for just anything but it really looks like the Raiders are going to be horrendous this year.
I'm not 100% sold on David Carr being a sleeper start this week. Yes the Giants moved the ball very well against Indy last week but Eli is much better than Carr and the Giants overall offense, including the RBs and offensive line own the Texans. I'd have to be really desperate to start Carr this week.

I'm a Moss owner as well, I a gonna hold tight. Barring a minor miracle, I think his value is going to plummet going into the bye next week. But after that come back with some good matchups in Cleveland, SF, AZ, Denver is thrown in there some where and that could be a down week for him. He'll be spotty the following weeks but I think that he could be a player who gets hot for the playoffs as his scheule starting in week 13 starts to lighten up. He could be a player who is absolute money down the stretch.
Down the stretch Oakland's schedule is: Hou (13), @Cin (14), StL (15), KC (16), NYJ(17).
Those look like some nice matchups right now, you just need to hope that he doesn't have a meltdown and shoot Brooks, Shell, or his O-Line before then.

I'm a moss owner too but don't know what to do! Despite my good roster I got spanked my first week. I want some advice on what I should do this week.
Heres my roster:
Starters:
QB Steve McNair, Bal QB vs Oak
RB Tiki Barber, NYG RB @Phi
RB/WR Eric Moulds, Hou WR @Ind
WR Chad Johnson, Cin WR vs Cle
WR Randy Moss, Oak WR @Bal
TE Daniel Wilcox, Bal TE vs Oak
D/ST Seahawks D/ST vs Ari
K Shayne Graham, Cin K vs Cle
Bench:
Santana Moss, Was WR @Dal
Ahman Green, GB RB vs NO
Carson Palmer, Cin QB vs Cle
Rod Smith, Den WR vs KC
DeAngelo Williams, Car RB @Min
Trent Green*, KC QB @Den
Broncos D/ST, Den D/ST vs KC
Jay Feely, NYG K @Phi
What do you guys think? Bench Randy for Santana? Barber for Green? Should I drop Trent Green or keep him? I don't think with this roster, if played right, I should get spanked or beat for that matter.

Don't panic just yet...
What's your scoring system?
I would lean towards starting Santana and benching moulds over randy and starting Palmer over McNair.
As far as dropping Green, who's available?

but you don't think moulds would have a better game than randy moss who is playing AT Baltimore? I don't know what to shop for right now if I drop Trent. Not much is available. I know my TE position is weak. Earlier you stated that Ahman Green would be a good starter, but should I keep tiki barber in instead? The scoring system is Head to Head Points pm ESPN.com. I was thinking McNaire would have a slightly better game due to their big blowout win and oaklands pitiful performance. Cleveland might be a better fight against *****. But it's a bit confusing because it can go either way.

I think your splitting hairs with moulds (@indy) and moss (@balt). They are both good defenses playing at home.
With Mcnair, if its a blow out, Baltimore will run the ball, while Cle/Cin if its dog fight there's more of a chance that Palmer will be throwing the ball later in the game where McNair will be feeding Jamal the ball.

Exactly. ***** doesn't have the convenience of a Jamal Lewis in the backfield like the ravens. They're an "air-it-out" team. Most are saying Tiki Barber will have an outstanding year picking up where he left off last season. That's the only reason why I'm picking him over green.

Start barber with out a doubt, if your feeling ballsy and want to start 2rb, you can sit moss and start green.

I'm really torn. I just got an offer of Terry Glenn for Moss. Obviously, that's a bad trade, but at least I can get SOMETHING for Moss now rather than absolute shit if the meltdown does occur (which seems likely.) I'm leaning towards keeping though. However, except for maybe Houston, none of those teams are as bad as they were last year.

I wouldn't do that deal right now, it still Randy Moss. If you really want to trade him, take the lump this week, and try to hold off until after their bye. They come out of the bye with Cle & SF in weeks 4 & 5. That's 2 games where he should bounce back, and should allow you to squeeze a little more value out of someone if you really want to dump him.
