Default Question for Mods about SpamBots

Does wackbag get a lot of spam bots signing up and posting crap and I just never notice?
My buddy has his own site for his animation and other flash projects. He has a forum that is getting KILLED with spam bots posting crap. I mod the forum so I go through and delete all their shit and then he deletes their account since he is the Admin.

He thought he had it setup where you have to confirm through email in order to sign up and post. But the bots are still posting every now and then and signing up everyday.

Any help? What is done on wackbag to prevent this?

Image Verification - it is also not 100% effective, but it better than just e-mail confirmation alone. If you're using vBulletin, you can also select to "moderate new members" (I think phpBB also has a similar setting) - that basically makes them invisible until a mod or admin can "approve" the user account. We don't use that here, but it is available.
