Faber is a hell of a fighter and fun to watch, but I saw the replay of Pulver from last winter and he looked really good, so I guess I'm not sure who will win. And you can take that to the bank.

The maeda/torres fights was one of the best fights I've seen in the while, especially the 2nd round. Double ankle lock was great!

The Torres and Faber fights were awesome. They both showed what highly skilled MMA fighters are about.

What started out as an average, run-of-the-mill MMA TV event (wow...who would have though to say THAT 5 years ago???) became something pretty cool with the Torres/Maeda and Faber/Pulver fights. Damn...
Torres/Maeda = instant classic, and holy shit, gotta respect Pulver for that iron chin and iron will. Faber was obviously the better fighter last night, but that was the most competitive shut-out you'll ever see. Well done by both fighters.

The Faber/Pulver fight was great. Pulver seemed to have no energy untill he would get hit then he would smile and come alive.
I was suprised though in round 2 I think it was when Faber rocked Pulver and almost finished the fight, Faber was throwing hammer fists to the back to Pulver's head and wasn't even warned for it.

WEC salaries
http://mmajunkie.com/news/4486/wec-3...top-earner.mma
* Urijah Faber ($44,000) def. Jens Pulver ($33,000)
* Miguel Torres ($28,000) def. Yoshiro Maeda ($6,000)
* Mark Munoz ($16,000) def. Chuck Grigsby ($3,000)
* Rob McCullough ($32,000) def. Kenneth Alexander ($3,000)
* Donald Cerrone ($10,000) def. Danny Castillo ($3000)
* Mike Brown ($10,000) def. Jeff Curran ($10,000)
* Will Ribeiro ($6,000) def. Chase Beebe ($7,000)
* Tim McKenzie ($12,000) def. Jeremy Lang ($4,000)
* Alex Serdyukov ($6,000) def. Luis Sapo ($3,000)
* Jose Aldo ($6,000) def. Alexandre Franca Nogueira ($8,000)
* Dominic Cruz ($6,000) def. Charlie Valencia ($7,000)
All of the winning fighters received "win bonuses" that doubled their salaries. For example, Faber earned a base salary of $22,000 and got an additional $22,000 for the victory. Had Pulver pulled off the victory, he would have been the event's highest-paid fighter with a $66,000 payday.
I would have thought Maeda might get a bigger payday for a title fight.

As technically good of a "boxing match" at it was - I didn't see Pulver trying to win the fight. Especially in rounds 4 and 5. He knew he was behind. He never "went for it". He was content to lose respectably. Sure, he probably wouldn't have pulled off late round knockout of Faber - but - he never even tried for it. I was disappointed in Pulver's lack of desire to try to do anything to win the fight. Did he think Faber was going to get "tired"? Like BJ in their first fight? And somehow with on points in the later rounds?
Other than the suprise early choke out of Cub Swanson -ever since Pulver's got knocked out by Joe Lauzon - he's been a different fighter. He's more concerned with having a "respectable showing" rather than the all out desire to try anyting to win.

this has probobly been said a billion times but the WEC event put eliteXC to shame. i didnt really expect pulver to win because faber is lightning fast. however i was really pulling for pulver. could have been a come back of sorts, but he blew it. everytime he gets hit he has to gesture or make a face. hes more worried about thumbing his nose at his opponant then just putting the beat down. i like lil' evil but i think he may be on his way out.

"nigga gotta eat" i dont blame kimbo. he came to bang. had he punched tha ol' water balloon ear in the first round we wouldnt have given it a second thought. i still think kimbo has the strength and brutality to make a showing. something tells me the next 6 months of kimbos life is gonna be spent on his back in the gym.
