I have a video file which is in .dav format, and I need to convert it to a different format. Anyone have any suggestions? It is a video of 2 assholes trying to rob one of my moms stores.

Isn't there some kind of online converter site? I can't find the bookmark, but someone else must know.

I'm fairly familiar with digital video, but I've never heard of .dav format. I assume it's from some kind of video surveillance system? It may be a proprietary format. I would start by checking the website of the surveillance system's manufacturer.

You are correct. It is from a dvr. I can view it fine with the companies software, but I need to convert it so that others can easily view it. Would screencapping the video like people do with Youtube, Paltalk, etc... be the best option? If so what is the best software for doing that? When I grab vids from youtube, etc... I just use the firefox plugin.

Any Video Converter Professional (available thru all good you-know-what websites....). Best out there.

If you wanna take any kinda file and throw it onto a DVD, I highly suggest DVD Flick (which is free and open source). Works like a charm.

For macs, VisualHub will convert damn near anything. I'm not sure if they make a PC version.

MediaCoder also. Should be able to use any codecs installed on your system.

Can VLC "Video Lan Client" play the file? It can play just about anything. If it can play it, just give the Stand-Alone version of VLC with the video file.

VLC can't play dav files. To play DAV with VLC, you will need download codec pack.

These aren't all spambots. I think it's a new campaign to use real people
    to post this stuff.

Some of them are clearly attempts at creating an algorithm that mimics human users by mining the words already in the thread and putting together almost-human sentences. Not sure which category this one falls into.

Location is the thing. Most of the bots come from
Asia. These come from US locations. This one from
Buffalo NY. My bet is it's some deal where if you go
on to so many sites and manage to spam some thing
you'll get paid. Establish the account, blend in, spam
    away and get cash.

I know a nice way to handle DAV file format. This professional DAV Converter and DAV Player, can help convert DAV files to almost all the video and audio formats on Windows and Mac with 30X fast speed and HD video quality. Besides, the nice DAV Video Converter is a wonderful DAV File Player that enables to freely play DAV files without time and device limitation. The outstanding DAV Converter is a specially designed video editor. It can join DAV files together, cut off the unwanted DAV files, split DAV files, crop DAV files, adjust DAV screen, add or remove watermark, add subtitles to DAV files or remove subtitles to DAV files, increase DAV file quality, increase DAV sound volume, adjust DAV video or audio channel or codec, rotate DAV files, compress DAV files and more.
