Costo... always buy tires at Costco. No reason to buy tires anywhere but Costco.

If you're not a Costco member... Ha Ha. Suffer.

Just bought tires for my car. Got four 70k Firestones for $380. A lot of tire places have a buy three get one free offers. The lowest I was quoted was $320 for 65k from Pep Boys for their in house brand. I love living so politely declined. Everyone else was about 380 give or take 20.

If you have a car you are looking at around 380/400 for name brand. If you have anything bigger then I don't know. Also most tire places have a credit card that is no interest for 6 months. Be warned though that if you don't pay it off before then then its around 21% interest with the 6 months added.

EDIT: you may get name brand cheaper if you have the small car tires. I forgot my Outback has larger tires for a car.

Costco is good. Check eBay and craigslist also since you only need one tire. Maybe someone near you has one or a pair for sale cheap.

I buy from a guy local who sells through ebay but it only works out well for me because I can pick up at their place and save shipping.

Avoid Walmart because they get their own "special" models of tire to sell and they are shit. It will be bald in 10k miles if it doesn't blow out before then.

Cheap is a used tire place, or a junk yard.

Look at the ads. Also, like above said, petboys has some korean tires or the house brand.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it, but you don't really want to buy 1 tire unless the other side as barely any wear...If you have a >50% worn tire and you throw a new one on it could end up wearing out faster...I know you probably don't really care but you should replace 2 if you have worn out tires...and you are supposed to replace it with the exact same tire size/manufacturer/specs....it can be tough to replace just 1 tire...

I always go for the cheapest tire, and then up 2 models...I get mine at sears and buy them via their online store. You can use online only coupons and save like 10 to 15% and set up your install appointment and cut all the people who show up without one...

When I was young and broke the junk yard was the place to get the cheapest namebrand tires. I'd rather slightly used good tires than cheapo new ones. They're the most important saftey component on the vehicle. If you have some more scratch I second Costco for tires. I bought my last set there and you get Nitrogen fill for free.

I gave away a set of 4 steel rims with newish snow tires on them a couple of years ago that I had for my old 93 escort (not sport version :) )

These guys seem to be the cheapest around here...

Town Fair is great...They have been selling so many tires up here that the Mass. stores got jealous of all the business the NH stores were getting (NO sales tax in NH, 6.25%) that the had State tax agents getting plate #'s in the NH store lots of mass cars so they could send them a tax bill when they came back to Ma...Yeah, that's right, they were bill people for not declaring the out of state taxes...

I'm glad the state supreme court took up this case. The DOR is beyond overstepping their bounds. The commerce clause is the rule of the land. The onus of paying taxes is on the person, not the merchant. With that said, I didn't know there was a such big price cut on these tires in NH. Call it the Streisand effect, but I'll be buying my next set of tires in NH.

Why does it have to be new? You can find a perfectly fine used tire for 20$-50$.

Don't listen to the Pep Boys bashing. Their tires are made by Cooper and are perfectly acceptable for a cheap car.

Bur if you are only buying one, just buy a used one at a used tire shop.

Have you tried a bottle jack, cinder block and a lug wrench? Parking lots are full of good used tires, they even have wheels with them.
