    Well B-b-b-b-b-b-boys, it's time......for the banter......

Lets get this year started with some pre-season predictions for the AFC North and AFC Conference Defending Champs.

The off-season was filled with a lockout, a DUI (and a dancing championship), a wedding, a bad ass linebacker telling it like it is, and the most under rated linebacker in the league getting paid.

But now its time for some football.

It looks like the Bengals and the Browns will not be in the mix again, which means its down to the Ravens and Steelers for the AFC North title. As always, I am sure the tools in the media will discount the Steelers and go with the Ravens. Which is fine with me. That hopefully will take the mark off the Steelers back. The team can then relax and keep their eyes and heads in the game. Staying healthy will probably be the nemesis once again. This team seems to grow two years older every year and with age comes injury.

All the games look like very "win-able". With the exception of the first with the Ravens I see very small bumps in the road.........The yearly "trap" game looks to be with the 49'ers in week 15. Games to watch out for of course, are the Colts and Patriots, you never know what the Steelers will bring to these marquee teams. Sometimes they bring the ass kicking and sometimes they shit the bed.

This team could easily go 12-4 or 14-2, and head to the playoffs looking to defend the AFC in the Superbowl.

I'm not so optimistic for this year really. The team doesn't have a good track record post-Super Bowl appearance and the salary cap issue has been a tough one this offseason. It remains yet to be seen what the final roster will look like but right now there just isn't alot of depth. That's to be expected when you have to pay people who have been in 3 of the last 7 Super Bowls. They've done a good job in resigning key people to long term contracts but between the cap problems and the lockout they've been unable to maintain depth or fix the problem areas.

That's ok though. This team will still win some games and compete for the playoffs and could very well win the division. I won't be expecting another Super Bowl run this year. Next year, however, will be a different story. With the rookie wage scale going in place it's going to be a huge advantage for teams like Pittsburgh who draft and develop well. And who knows...maybe by some miracle the team will stay healthy and then they'd be really dangerous.

Baron Batch tore his ACL. It's too bad as he was having a great camp and was really in a position to see some carries this year. Also Jericho Cotchery signed. I'm not expecting big things from him this year but his leadership will only help when combined with Ward and will help the young receivers continue to develop well.

Steelers vs Redskins. Let's see if it stays interesting past the first 5 minutes.

Roethlisberger already getting hit way too much. Nice to see that Mike Wallace is still fast as fuck.

ike Taylor broke his thumb. Arnaz Battle can't catch to save his life. Cameron Heyward looked real good. Other than that it was a typical preseason game. Still work to be done but nothing really struck me as hopelessly bad except for the playcalling of course.

I just watched the first series of the game from last week on DVR. Holy Shit, Tomlin better fix that O-line or this will be a looooooong season. Ben got hit on every fucking play....every single one!

I guess I can recant my opening post. 9-7 record (Superbowl hangover). Lets see what happens tonight.

Why is Bradshaw in the booth? Joe Buck sucks a dick but this certainly won't help.

I'm really only concerned about injuries. The level of play will be good enough for the most part. Last year when the Steelers lost both starting tackles for the year before the season even started people wrote them off and yet they made the Super Bowl. When Pouncey went down in the AFC Championship game people thought there was no way the Steelers could hang in with Green Bay and yet if not for a couple mistakes and the usual piss poor play calling they would have won that game. The offensive line will come together to at least give enough protection for Ben Roethlisberger who actually requires probably the least amount of protection of any QB in the league.

What's with the late low hit on Roethlisberger? Where's the flag? Where's the suspension? Where's the outrage?

Bah there goes the shut out. Warren totally should have picked Kafka off the play before and preserved it. Oh well I'll take what I've seen tonight over all. We're no dream team but we can win games.

It's preseason football. They'll get better.
But people in Philly do realize why they have never won
a super bowl. It's the fast ass that's calling the plays.
They can buy him the best team out there and I still
won't trust him to do the right thing when needed.

Dream team, my ass. Until Andy goes they'll never win.
