This is good for the sport, they should do it more often, but is it wrong to say I'm nervous about the results?
Overeem better not fail, especially when he knows the NSAC will test him randomly twice this year.
in be4 results.
waits for results
waits to find out roy nelson is injecting fast food growth hormone
someone failed, can you guess who?
Oh, for fuck's sake.
Junior is breathing a sigh of relief i bet. The Reem would ruin him.
UFC should just cut the guy completely
So who gets it?
I think so & Cain sits out more time to "heal"
Yeah bec Junior has been ruined before (not) & Reem ruined Werdum (not)
Overeem is not currently licensed in Nevada, so technically, he cannot be punished for testing positive in regards to a suspension or penalty from the commission, but without a license he can’t fight there. If that’s not taken care of prior to the May 26 date for UFC 146, he will be pulled from the bout with dos Santos.
I can't say I'm surprised.
This is why they need random tests.
To prevent cycling.
I expect Valasquez gets moved to the main event and Kongo or Carwin get added to the card.
I don't think so at all
He was just beat in one rd to same fighter
Mir deserves it more
Cain needs at least one victory
That works too.
Maybe they shuffle the whole damn card up.
Reached for comment following news that UFC 146 headliner Alistair Overeem had registered elevated levels of testosterone on a pre-fight drug test – and that his title-fight slot might be up for grabs – Frank Mir had two words.
"Oh, cool," he told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).
Obviously, it was news to him, but the ex-champ quickly thew his hat into the ring.
Before he took a phone call from his manager, Mir expressed hope that he might be first in line if, in fact, Overeem (36-11 MMA, 1-0 UFC) is not licensed to fight Junior Dos Santos (14-1 MMA, 8-0 UFC) at the May 26 pay-per-view event, which takes place at Las Vegas' MGM Grand Garden Arena.
The Nevada State Athletic Commission today confirmed that Overeem's testosterone-to-epitestosterone (T/E) ratio came in at more than 10-to-1, well above the commission's allowable limit of 6-to-1. The fighter is required to appear before the commission should he apply for a license to fight Dos Santos. The conditional license granted for his fight with Brock Lesnar at UFC 141 expired on Dec. 31.
If Overeem applies, he could appear at the NSAC's next meeting, which is targeted for April 24, a full month before UFC 146.
Mir (16-5 MMA, 14-5 UFC) is scheduled to fight fellow ex-champ Cain Velasquez (9-1 MMA, 7-1 UFC) in a title-eliminator co-main event at UFC 146. Among the top-billed fighters on the all-heavyweight main card, he is the only one coming off a win – a submission victory at UFC 140 over Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira in a rematch of a meeting four years ago at UFC 92.
So you could say he's the best qualified to act as a replacement should Overeem be unable to fight Dos Santos.
"I'm excited that maybe now I can get a title shot," Mir said.
However, UFC president Dana White said he isn't sure what Overeem's failed test means for the UFC 146 headliner, according to the Twitter account of Canadian MMA show "UFC Central."
So for now, Mir will watch and wait.
Why are we using spoilers for news info?
I also just got called sexist on sherdog for saying that I don't care about women's MMA.
My opinion has been the same about women's MMA from day 1.. If women want to fight they should be allowed to, in the same division as men of the same weight class. I believe in true equality, not this sexist "women have their own divisions" crap.
Plus, they shouldn't be allowed to wear a shirt if the men aren't.
I think Mir is where it goes, Dana must be pissed
Makes no sense
Also Meltzer said Reem basically knew he would be tested (unofficially) because he was in Nevada & they needed a test
Makes him even more of a fool
Just felt like stickin the tags on due to size, i'd imagine folk that are on twitter follow MMA accounts and may have already seen it and makes it easier to scroll passed
Spoiler tags make it seems like something different that news & NOBODY will know you did it for that reason
Scrolling is a hard thing to do Frankie
You underestimate my laziness, but i'll avoid tags in future
1, 2, 3, everyone act surprised that Overeem tested positive. hate that I won't see the fight but this is why random testing is good.
yea! just found via internet that I PASSED MY DRUG TEST! It was close but I passed. #Nodoubts @ufc @danawhite
I like the cut of your jib fella.
Well maybe brock feels better now, they need to send a hawk with a note on its foot to his cabin in the middle of no where.
Ban him for life overturn every match he's won since going to HW.
So weak. I was really looking forward to that fight. I hope Mir gets the shot and wins.
He hasn't exactly been hiding lately
